Just returned from 7 wonderful days of relaxation I am always sceptical about the room until I actually open the door As I had booked a suite I was expecting something pretty decent but the room exceeded my expectations It consisted of large bedroom with 4 poster bed separate lounge with quality furniture a tv in each room a hallway leading to a very large high spec bathroom The suite had many extras that are too many to mention The breakfast was excellent and the restaurant top quality as were the staff A most enjoyable break well done Castenheiro
We have stayed in Madeira on 5 previous occasions and this by far the best hotel, not only location, friendly and efficient service, the entire experience was wonderful. Unfortunately we do not recall the names of individual staff members but everyone, from front desk, housekeeping, restaurant and bar were amazing. Loved the roof top pool and jacuzzi facilities and also enjoyed a relaxing afternoon in the spa. The spa facilities were complimentary which is a real bonus. My husband is a fan of jazz music so thoroughly enjoyed the trio playing in the bar, accompanied by the tapas buffet. We certainly plan to return.
Excellent hotel within easy walking distance of all Funchal attractions. Very good facilities, quiet location and well maintained. Friendly and helpful staff. Madeira is a beautiful Island with amazing walks particularly enjoyed the sunrise walk from Pico Arieiro to Pico Ruiva.
This is our third time we been here. Location for this hotel is great! Breakfast is great, especiallly fruitsection has great variety. Service is friedly and everything works fine. Pool area on top of the roof has unique view over Funchal ant to the sea.
We chose this smaller hotel in the town centre in preference to a larger hotel in the hotel sector - what a great choice. The room was great, really comfortable and the daily room service impeccable. Hotel staff were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble (including rescuing swimwear dropped from our balcony onto a roof below!). Restaurant breakfast was among the best we have experienced. Pool terrace is great, live music in the bar in the evenings. Great location just 5 minutes from the marina and 10 minutes from the market and Rua do Santa Maria. Fabulous stay, we will definitely return.
Very nice hotel, top location, nice pools in and outdoor, with spectacular views. At the recption you have the extremely friendly Luisa, always having a chat, helping you with whatever you need. and the other Luisa at the spa has golden hands,.. the breakfast is fantastic. A little bit disappointed this time with the dinner. The crocante de queijo was dry, and I do not think you need to add cheese to the paté de foie gras... but still top and lovely restaurant. The hotel has lovely spacy rooms, and a very own style in decoration.
Wonderful hotel, ideally located for exploring Funchal and the island. Staff are very friendly and helpful and the facilities are excellent. The views of Funchal and the sea from the rooftop pool are spectacular.
I stayed with my friend for 3 evenings and it was perfect! Everyone from front desk, spa, room service was very friendly and helpful! I saw Luisa Abreu for a spa treatment and she was fantastic! Very friendly and great massage. 10/10 recommend!
I used the spa today for a massage. 100% recommended, I’ve been getting massages for around 15 years and this was one of the best. Specifically, I’d recommend Luisa - she was amazing. You also get complimentary use of the spa after which is a great deal for the price you pay. The spa is super clean and feels quite luxe, but go here for the massages. I’m staying at a nearby hotel which is really nice - however this hotel looks better. I’ll be booking it next time.
We spent a week in December, for the 4th time. We have also stayed for a week in September. December is so special in the hotel and very festive. A wonderful check-in from Claudia with a welcome glass of Madeira wine. We booked 2 rooms, 1 for single occupancy, 1 for double occupancy and Claudia advised that although 406 had been allocated for single occupancy it was the larger of the 2 rooms, complete with sofa, chair and coffee table. 403 was slightly smaller and had a view of the courtyard, whereas 406 overlooked the road, but had a sea view. We opted for 406 and despite the road there was no noise at all. Claudia arranged for the beds to be changed from twin to a double very efficiently. The balcony caught the sun for a lot of the day, which the balcony at room 403 didn't. Being on the 4th floor there was some noise from above, which is the pool area, but this didn't bother us. Booked a facial in the Til Spa with Jessica and it was wonderful, so relaxing, followed by a herbal tea to ejoy in the downstairs pool area. Rooftop pool is fabulous with amazing views and a nice little bar area for drinks and snacks. Upper level has double sun loungers, plus a jacuzzi and even better views. 5* location in Funchal centre, but very quiet despite everything in easy walking distance. Breakfast is buffet self-service and Monica and her team are fantastic - we got a wonderful welcome back from Monica who remembered us from our visit last year. Happy hour in the Iris bar 6-7pm is great for a pre-dinner drink. We didn't eat in the restaurant this year, as we prefer to eat outside, but we ate twice in September last year. Outside dining is available at lunchtime, weather permitting! The whole hotel is our idea of perfection - clean, stylish, friendly staff, good food, but relaxed and informal. Would recommend to anyone who likes a hotel within easy distance of all amenities.…
