This hotel is perfectly located for a tourist who wants to pop out for a walk any time of the day and be immediately among the normal town life of Madeira. Everything is within walking distance. It is a clean and friendly hotel; room is of good size as well as bathroom. Special thanks to the personnel at the reception,...

This is a 30 room hotel, one of two hotels being run by the same group, the other is the Windsor Hotel, literally just around the corner. It's centrally situated in Madeira's vibrant capital Funchal. On my arrival I was given a room on the 5th floor (Rm 504): a generous double room for single occupancy. The bathroom once again...

This a a good basic hotel, clean and cheap and very central. The reception staff speak good English. The hotel breakfast is limited and the coffee is poor, but as the room was so cheap we went out for a better breakfast at the budget cafe two doors down. The hotel don't take credit or debit cards, but there is...

The hotel was clean, room not too small. The beds are being renewed, our was ok but a bit hard for my husband. About the breakfast I had read it was poor. So it was. I had a word with someone responsible and after that the coffee was much better. But not the bread so far, yet in the shop...

This was our second holiday in Madeira. We had stayed in the hotel district and this time we wanted to stay right in the centre of Funchal. This certainly was central. The hotel is basic and clean and the staff were friendly. We were half board and ate breakfast in this hotel. Again it was basic simple food. Evening meal...

The best part of this tiny old hotel is, that it truly is in the centre. 5 minutes walk to the harbour, shopping galleries, central bus station, restaurants. If you would like to spend your time in the hotel room this is not you choice - although if you manage to get the room from the top floor with the...

I have stayed in Do Centro many times and have always had a pleasant holiday. Hotel is very clean and staff helpful. It is a part of portugese mentality not to be so open and talkative than in some other cultures and they also might be shy about their language skills. When asked, the staff allways helped gladly and gave...

......checking in you may experience not very helpful staff like how to get around, where to park a car or to take a bus? You have to find it out on your own. Don't hope too much if you don't speak Portuguese. Room itself for the value of money is ok (bed is quite soft and so do the pillow)...

Spent one night in March 2008 at this hotel after reading the decent reviews it had recieved here. Having spent the night at this hotel I was surprised that it had such good marks! There are good bits about the hotel like the reception staff being friendly, we had a balcony in our room, the bathroom was pretty big and...

“I've visited Madeira three times and stayed at three different hotels, so I do have a comparison. Unfortunately this one gets the lowest of my ratings ... Hotel Gorgulho near the Lido in the hotel quarter might well be an odd looking and quirky place but it still gets 3-and-half-stars ... Enotel Santo Da Serra up in the hills of Santo Da Serra might be a little off the beaten track and not in the hub of tourism but gets 4-and-a-quarter-stars and is worth every one of them ...”
