After a long night of travelling over-night flight, our sleep-deprived bodies managed to find Terrace Mar Hotel instantly. The ease of taking the shuttle from the airport to the centre of Funchal came as a surprise to us as our previous holiday airport-transfers have all been rather painful to navigate. But not in Madeira! The aero-bus picked us up from...

Situated on a quiet side street, just off the main route through the hotel zone, the Terrace Mar is well located for ease of access to bus routes, including the Aerobus, and around a 30 minute stroll to the port/central area. Our good sized room included self catering facilities which were little used given the range of eating options within...

We had a room on 2nd floor and had partial seaview from our balcony. The room itself was divided into two sections, a section for sleeping and a section for the kitchenette and living area. Only the sleeping section had windows and view.Would have been great if both sections had windows and views, but can´t get it all, right. The kitchen part...

Over for a week in January. This place is just along the roads from Reids so is not really in the hotel part of Funchal but it is close to small supermarkets and the sea. Walk into town centre is about 20-30 minutes. There is a levada walk that starts by the football stadium that is up the hill a...

Firstly I really don't want to rant and I will try and keep my frustration with this hotel down to a quick review for you, I had been travelling for 16hours to arrive to a hotel in my favourite country for my birthday and was told the booking through expedia that we made had been accepted but they had overbooked...

This hotel was really nice and peaceful. Of course it's not the best hotel ever, but on the other hand it is quite cheap one. The location is really good: it doesn't take long to walk to the center of Funchal or to the Madeira Forum (which I think is the best shopping center in Funchal) and there's plenty of...

Maybe I was so impressed by the off-season price offered by booking.com (30 euro per day, breakfast included), but I found this an excellent place. For this money, you get a decent room with an equipped kitchen, a balcony, fast wi-fi, nice breakfast, library of books to be borrowed and a pool on the rooftop if you need it; there...

We very much liked this hotel, it is not the most glamorous and fanciest one compared to other hotels nearby, but it has a very familiar atmosphere and offers everything you need, from spacious rooms that are equipped with a kitchenette to an inviting roof top terrace with pool. Good breakfast buffet. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The...

The hotel is conveniently located: the ocean promenade, shops, cafés, restaurants and pubs close-by. The room was quite clean and regularly cleaned; the A/C in the room practically noiseless. It's good of them to have invested into the double glazing since the rooms give onto a street with busy traffic, where cars and buses have to accelerate right in front...

The room was large with nice Balcony and useful kitchen area. Always cleaned efficiently, plenty of towels. Very convenient for restaurants, the sea and walking. It was a bit noisy when sitting on the Balcony but it didn't stop us! Nice roof terrace area with tiny but warm pool and good views.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Totally renovated in December 2016. Concept Terrace Mar result of a thorough renovation, with a light, fresh and timeless concept. The project of decoration and design adds to the previous hotel a more appealing area of the solarium and Jacuzzi, giving the rooms and commons areas all the facilities and features to the current visitor. The generic blue sky of Madeira, together with elegant white wood furniture, are the predominant colours, giving our guests a sense of peace, well-being and harmony. Location Set in one of the best areas of Funchal, this small and friendly four stars aparthotel is located 500 meters away from the sea and the Lido promenade and bathing complex and about 20 minutes walk from the city centre. The Hotel is nearby supermarkets, bars, restaurants, shops, banks and bus stations. Accommodation With a modern, nice and functional decoration, the hotel has 43 spacious junior suites and suites, all with balcony and complete kitchenettes. All the rooms also have air conditioning, flat screen TV with cable TV connection, Wi-Fi, seating and dining area with sofa, table and chairs, private bathroom with hair dryer, walk-in shower as well as a furnished balcony with double glazed windows and doors.
