Great location and facilities, very relaxed vibe, good food and entertainment, easy to get about. Pools and facilities are very well managed and maintained and never feel crowded. A great way to spend a relaxing week.

With five pools to choose from, a range of bars and restaurants, high standard of rooms, kept very clean this hotel was excellent value for money. There is no beach, but beautiful sea views. Very, very hilly area as is the whole of Madeira! Lido area lovely, but main road not a very pleasant place to eat or drink. Excellent entertainment and gorgeous spa. Fab trips around Madeira, would definitely recommend.

Accommodation as good as ever, usb sockets and 3 pin UK plug sockets (in bathroom). Indoor pool getting used a lot, could benefit from additional attention - still very happy to use. Looking forward to our next trip already.

Perfect location, free parking, close proximity to restaurants. Staff was great, breakfast very good. Spacious rooms. Aircon could be a bit more effective. At times noisy from music opposite side of the street. Swimming pool and grounds are magical, I’ll definitely stay here again on my next visit to Madeira.

Just the best in every way. Been going for 10 years and still can’t wait to return. It’s like a hotel set in a botanical gardens . So well maintained and the staff are so attentive to customers . Food is fantastic and cocktails galore! No better hotel on the island of Maderia .

A fantastic relaxing time here at The Residence at Portobay Funchal, all the staff were so focused & helpful, another very enjoyable time. we found everything as we would like it, thankyou all. We have been coming to the Portobay group for over 14 years now. Over 20 visits. This includes the mainland Portugal & they never fail to make it a real holiday of relaxation. We are not far from the Aqua blue sea & the atmosphere is so so relaxing, fresh sea air & such a relaxed atmosphere here.

We’ve been here for the 8th time. That says quite a lot. Friendly and relaxing hotel. The apartments are spacious with beautiful view over the gardens and ocean (not all). This hotel (part of Porto mare and Eden mar) is becoming more and more family friendly oriented it used to be more old people. The food buffets are excellent, breakfast and dinner. Don’t forget to rent a car to go around, parking is free in the garage of the hotel. A good starting point for exploring Madeira!
