Fantastic family run central hotel.
We came on the recommendation of friends and it is a fantastic family run hotel in the centre of the old town. Everyone is so friendly from the minute you arrive. The accommodation is excellent and we had a balcony on the third floor. It was a special treat for my birthday and all the staff knew and said happy birthday and the hotel gave me the most beautiful flowers. We had a wonderful time and I can see us coming back again and again. We used the hotel taxi who was great. The breakfast is just amazing and the location is great for restaurants, buses, the market and the centre of town. There is a very inviting pool and a hot tub, which was out of order on our visit. We look forward to coming back and seeing everyone again.

Lovely to return to this hotel!
So lovely to stay here again. Everyone is so friendly and the welcome is tremendous. Great views from our top floor room which was very comfortable. Ideally placed in the Old Town where there is a huge choice of excellent restaurants. Can’t wait to go back!

A return visit
We first stayed at this lovely, small and friendly hotel in 2016 and were delighted to return in December this year. From the moment of our arrival to our departure a week later the warmth we experienced from the staff was just wonderful. This time our room was on the third floor with views to the sea, harbour and beyond. Excellent choice again at breakfast - the fruit salad as good as ever! We didn't venture far each day and were pleased to return to the hotel for a late lunch of toasties and beer, sitting by the pool in the sunshine. Our weather was good so we made great use of our balcony. Fridge very handy to keep water which can be bought in the hotel. Again we met guests who had stayed several times. Can only say again - we recommend the hotel. Thank you to every member of staff for a wonderful, relaxing week.…

Just as good as ever.
Perfect location in the Old Quarter away from the hotel district. Bed and breakfast only but what a breakfast. Snr Dias' fruit salad is a real treat. With more than twenty excellent restaurants at the bottom of the garden who could wish for anything more. Staff are all so attentive it wouldn't be fair to single anyone out. Our sixth visit to the Albergaria speaks for itself.

A wonderful stay
This is a special place. Immediately upon arrival you are warmly welcomed and made to feel like a member of the family. All members of the staff starting with the owner Mr. Dias, Sr. are always smiling and sincerely interested in you and how your visit is going. The rooms are clean and spacious and the breakfast is great with homemade jams, fruit juices and of course Mr. Dias’ famous fruit salad. The hotel is conveniently located just a short five minute walk to the cable car station. Luisa and Cecilia are terrific on the front desk and are always helpful and can readily arrange tours and transport to/from the airport. Monica who overseas breakfast in the morning and the bar in the afternoon is wonderful. As with all the staff she is genuinely warm and gracious. If you are considering a visit to Funchal, Madeira PLEASE give staying in this hotel serious consideration. Even though we left just a few days ago we are already thinking about a return visit. …

No Take a travel kettle if this is a problem.

Do any of the rooms have a full shower (as opposed to hand held ones) please?
Don't know about other rooms, ours had a shower over bath. Didn't need to hand hold it. Contact hotel, they are very helpful.

Good afternoon Are there toiletries in the bathroom and are mosquitos a problem in November?
Have stayed 3 times in early Nov and although my wife is quite prone to getting a few bites ... this is one place they have never been a problem at all.
