Me and my wife were very satisfied on staying In Royal Savoy on our holiday. Even the weather was nice and warm. We got breakfast for every morning. It was excellent, especially it was great to have omelettes made so professionally that one could just enjoy looking at cooking.
Our party of 5 included a 3 year old, we timed our visit to see the Christmas lights which were mind blowing. The Royal Savoy was a great local venue and all aspects were first class, with all staff being great ambassadors for the hotel and its owners. Add in excellent food, weather and flights made our holiday a wonderful break.
The Royal Savoy offers luxury at a very reasonable rate. As a new timeshare member we were over whelmed by the quality and service provided. Friendly and welcoming. So looking forward to 2023 and would certainly add extra days to our holidays with no hesitation.
Fantastic hotel well located near centre of Funchal (15 minute walk). Rooms are very comfortable, on-site restaurants are superb. Has several outdoor pools and one heated indoor; all kept in excellent order. Staff are helpful.
We are Vacation Club members but stayed in the new sister Hotel the Savoy Palace due to unavailability in the Royal. Because of Covid and other issues we had not visited the Royal for just over 3 yrs but decided to have a look around. As I entered into reception a staff member approached and greeted me warmly with a hand shake welcoming me back. I visited the poolside, again being warmly welcomed, by name and chatted with staff I had not seen for some years. My wife and I decided to eat in the Armarda restaurant on the Saturday and Sunday evening. Saturday we both had Herb encrusted Lamb and this was simply stunning. I noticed staff were as polite and attentive to non Vacation Club guests as they were to members. Sunday was the Italian themed dinner and again we enjoyed a super freshly cooked Pasta meal cooked by the Chef. We return in May but thoroughly enjoyed the dinners.…
My husband and I spent a week in Nov. at the Royal Savoy Resort. We were so pleased with all aspects of this hotel/resort that we decided to write a review. We had a suite on the third floor with a fully equipped kitchenette and a balcony with a most spectacular view of the ocean and the picturesque pool area. The room was spacious, super clean, the bed and pillows very comfortable. I loved the lighting in the room and bathroom. Bright enough to apply my makeup and get dressed in front of a long wall mirror. We were provided slippers and a robe and lots of towels and chocolates on our bed. It felt very homey and comfortable. The housekeeping staff should be acknowledged for keeping the halls, lounge areas and rooms in top shape. The grounds were well maintained from early morning to late night. As a guest you have access to abundant lounge chairs around two pool areas with comfortable pads and large beach towels. The ladies at the pool restaurant made me custom drinks and brought them to me. What more can you want or expect. We cannot say enough about the front desk staff. They went beyond their job description for us by helping to download and print our boarding passes, translating with locals on the phone for us, to answering my husbands unending questions about Madeira, to providing extra room keys, and calling for transportation to the airport. We were very comfortable approaching these helpful front desk staff, which at other resorts we avoid doing because they are not as responsive to our needs. At the Royal Savoy, they could not do enough for you. Trust us, they will try their very best to make your visit a happy, positive one. When my husband told them it was our 40th anniversary, they provided us with chilled champagne in our lovely spacious room. A special thank you to the customer relations manager and staff. We also enjoyed the nightly happy hour in the piano bar and of course the lovely sounds of piano music. They even have a library on the first floor where you can find books to enjoy. We wanted to experience the culture and foods of Madeira since we had a rental car so we did not stay and enjoy the first class food offered at the hotel but I know that they offer fine dining in a lovely restaurant overlooking the ocean and pool area. We will have fond memories of our stay at the Royal Savoy for years to come and cannot say enough about our stay. Thank you to all, and especially to whoever assigned our room for us. Excellent Hotel, with great ocean-view, pool and See access. Within short walking distance to the harbour area, the City center and the old city district. There's also a big variety of excellent restaurants for dinner in the surroundings as well as in the City area. Eventhough the price level of sea-view rooms is relatively high its worth to consider. The buffet breakfast ist delicious, with a good variety of fresh fruits. We did not miss anything for breakfast.
Hotel is a bit dated, but it is in an excellent location. The food is very good, and the staff are excellent. We would definitely recommend and would go back there on a future visit. We don't normally eat evening meals in the hotels we stay in, but on this occasion, we ate on three evenings.
Have been a vacation club member for over 20 years and love coming to Royal Savoy Madeira. Excellent improvements to reception and bar areas as well as the pool bar and surrounding gardens. Overall it is an excellent place and 1-bedroom apartments are still lovely. However, the studio apartments are tired and shabby - in need of urgent renovation, particularly kitchen and bathrooms. It is a shame that such a lovely resort with such fantastic staff and restaurants are being let down by quality of accommodation. I hope these concerns are addressed sooner rather than later.
Perfectly located and very well appointed its hard to fault the Savoy unless they made it cheaper! 3 pools, sea access, car parking and friendly helpful staff all made our stay easy and enjoyable. The mini Toblerone on each bed everyday was a lovely touch that never failed to excite our kids.
