This review is purely to give our heartfelt thanks to the only member of reception staff who has her head screwed on. Ever since we arrived she has been amazing. We booked trips with her recommendation but most of all she made all the testing and hassle of the Covid-19 go away. She seems to be the only one who helps and get things done. We would give the lovely woman a medal and a raise.Having talked to other holidaymakers who hadn’t come across Marissa I thank the stars we we lucky ! I am sorry if we have her name spelled wrong but she has short blondeish hair and I am sure a lovely smile behind the mask xxxx
The boom is basic but well maintained and tasteful. The sea views are excellent. Interesting that they supply a kettle and cups but no beverage making items, also you have to pay for the safe and considering this hotel costs as much as sever other 5* hotels it should be free. The drains in our room smelt but we sorted them out with a little bleach from the local supermarket. That aside the hotel is very well managed and very clean. The food in the a la carte Mende was great and similar in price to the local restaurants. If you want a really fancy meal go down to Cris’s on the promenade by the racquet ball courts it’s excellent; as was the ,Asian flavours’. We had an excellent stay and would go back to this hotel for its location and service.
Lovely hotel at a very good location. Walking distance to both good shopping facilities in Forum Madeira and plenty of very nice restaurants in the area. The hotel is excellent. Nice rooms with good facilities. Great clean and well maintained pool area. Very good breakfast buffet with beautiful view over the ocean from the area. Great service in reception, where we received assistance with multiple different queries. In general this is a very good hotel, which we would love to visit again.
My partner and I recently spent a week here and we couldn't have asked for a better place to spend our time in Funchal. The hotel is spotlessly clean - very reassuring in the current situation. We had a sea view room and the view from our balcony was just amazing! Again the room was immaculate. The hotel is very modern. We stayed B&B and breakfast didn't disappoint! Lots of choice and great service. All staff are incredibly helpful and welcoming - We really felt at home! Whilst the hotel isn't really in the city there are still lots of places to eat, drink and shop nearby. We were a bit worried when we saw the building site right across the street but you couldn't hear a thing from the hotel. I believe there's a courtesy bus a few times a day to take you in to the city, but its less than €10 in a taxi if the times don't fit in to your plans. If you don't mind a walk it takes just under an hour but the walk back is all uphill. This was our first visit to Funchal and Baia Azul had certainly set the bar very high!…
We have been to Madeira many times previously and stayed at 4 and 5 Star hotels including the Cliff Bay and the Vidamar. We hadn’t stayed in this area of Funchal before so Baia Azul was something new for us and we were very impressed by the standards of this hotel. We were aware before booking that there was construction work close to the hotel but this did not spoil our time at the pool or in our sea view room. This hotel is spotless . Everything is very clean and Covid regulations are adhered to. The rooms are modern and fresh and cleaned to a high standard on a daily basis. We were bed & breakfast and thought the choice of fresh fruit , salad , cereals , cold meats and cheese was served swiftly and efficiently by the very pleasant staff. Hot freshly prepared breakfast food was available and did look very nice but we didn’t try this. We had lunch in the hotels Sal restaurant on the day we left and the food and service here was amazing , sitting on the terrace in the sun with a beautiful view of the sea . The lido promenade is outside the hotel which is great for walking either towards Funchal or to Camara dos Lobos. We found some lovely restaurants nearby , Cris’s, Leenos, Restaurante Marisqueira O Barqueiro, and Nos Copos for drinks in the evening. The weather was lovely and warm at the end of July. We are back in Madeira at the Savoy Palace in September this year but we will return to this hotel at some point as it is great value for money.…
