Relaxing holiday in a beautiful place.
Once again we stayed at the Eden Mar. Your are always sure of a warm friendly welcome here. Every thing was good. Lovely room, spacious and clean. Beautiful gardens and swimming pools. Good entertainment, good food. The staff here are always friendly and helpful. There is a choice of eating venues here, your get good service with a smile. There is a curtesy bus, taxi rank and bus stops, so it is easy to get around. Can’t wait for our next visit in April.

Cannot speak more highly of the location, the friendly staff and the facilities. The choice of restaurants both for breakfast and dinner were excellent and not expensive. The musical entertainment in the evening was varied and good quality.

Excellent as always
One of the best parts of returning to Eden Mar – this was my seventh visit – is to see a great number of familiar and friendly faces amongst the staff in reception, bars and restaurants. Many staff members have been with the hotel 20 and even 30 plus years which to me, is the sign of a good hotel. Another, is to be allocated the room requested, in my case for the fifth time in the same studio on the top floor. Even though amongst the smaller rooms, this is still extremely spacious, nicely decorated and well equipped, ideal for me. The bonus on my recent visit was that it fell during a ‘double discount’ period for PortoBay Prestige Club members with discounts of 20% for blue card up to 30% for gold card members. As I dined in the resort's first class a-la-carte restaurants on each of my seven nights, my 30% discount made this a very attractive proposition. With all this, coupled with the outstanding facilities, gardens and location of the Vila Porto Mare complex, it is no wonder that Eden Mar enjoys incredibly high returning guest numbers. One gripe however, the Oceano Bar in the Eden Mar, which used to have a fantastic atmosphere for evening entertainment with the two barmen, Fernando and Marco often joining in, is now usually very quiet, sometimes with nothing on. Management have opted to concentrate evening entertainment in the Portofino Bar of the adjoining Porto Mare Hotel (which lacks the same atmosphere). This is surprising, as the Oceano Bar has recently been very nicely refurbished. I can assure the management that this decision has NOT gone down well with many Eden Mar regulars and I hope they have a re-think before my next visit.…

Always reliably excellent!
Room clean, spacious well decorated and comfortable. This is our 5th visit because we know we can rely on everything being fine. The location is ideal with easy access to Funchal centre and yet a quiet secluded position with wonderful gardens and prom walk. Food quality always first class. Spacious public lounges and bars and extensive facilities. Staff always polite and helpful, particularly reception.

Which family bedrooms are suitable for 2 adults and two children, girls aged 10 and 12?
Dear Guest, If you are planning to have all family in the same room, none of the rooms at Eden Mar would accommodate a family of 4. However, at The Residence, which is part of the same complex and share the same facilities you will find rooms that can accommodate a family of 4. There I suggest booking a RT1 or RT2. Hi, we are arriving at Eden Mar on Friday 5th April for 10 nights. We are a family of 5 and have booked 2 Junior Suites. We need a transfer from Funchal airport to Eden Mar. Can anyone advise on how to arrange this please? Many thanks.
Hotel arranges transfers but a bit above market price. If your flight times do not allow using the Airport Bus (very convenient, bus stop in front of hotel) get one of the shuttle services prebooked mentioned in TA Funchal forum.
