We are just nearing the last few days in our 2 week Savoy palace holiday. It’s a lovely hotel in a nice location with great pools and amenities. The staff everywhere are lovely, from the welcoming reception staff, to the pool attendants and the waiting staff, housekeeping, nothing was too much trouble. Rooms are spacious with lots of storage, good quality linen, and comfortable bed. Our air conditioning played up a little (it’s centrally controlled) but that was fixed soon after we raised it. The bathroom whilst looking grand and has a great shower doesn’t offer much sound privacy, not a huge issue but may bother some. The only downside in my opinion was that the fridge is not cold enough. The balcony area was lovely and even though we had a city view room it was a wonderful place to sit. There is quite a bit of traffic on the road but the rooms are wonderfully sound proofed. The pools are lovely and there are plenty of sunloungers of differing types and so didn’t ever struggle to find a spot. Breakfast was an amazing experience, the choice is varied and of a high quality. But what makes it special is the waiting staff, you are welcomed as if you have come home, and everyone is not only lovely but show their own personalities. One of my most favourite hotel breakfasts ever. There are a couple of things I’d liked to have known earlier and they are:- There is a happy hour in the lobby bar from 6:30pm-8pm which is for 30% off all drinks. Despite what the app says there is no free shuttle to the old town. There is a omelette / egg chef out of the back of the breakfast buffet. I did also have an incident with the hotel hairdryer in that it was plugged in under the sink and started randomly smoking as I started to head out, luckily I noticed the smoking and by the time I got to it flames had started coming out of the hairdryer. I managed to get it out on the balcony where the flames died out. I reported the incident (twice actually) as I realised the smoke alarms had not been triggered and there was a lot of smoke in the room. I only hope they checked the fire alarms as I requested as I didn’t hear anything back from anyone. A big thank you to maintenance because in addition to fixing our air conditioning promptly he also rescued me from being trapped in the downstairs entrance lobby of the skybar. To cut a long story short do not use the lift that takes you from the galaxia skybar restaurant on 16 to the ground floor during the day (the one that doesn’t stop on all floors) because, well you can get stuck downstairs as the door is locked and your room key won’t let you access any other floor via the lift. If you want to get down to the sea level you can head towards the left of the Almeda garden restaurant and follow the chequered tiles to a gate. Your key card lets you through and downstairs through the garden of the restaurant and then if you head left there’s a bridge that takes you to the NEXT hotel, follow the signs to sea access and your key card works there too. That’s also an alternative route back from town which fills like less of a hill climb. All in all we have had a lovely stay and I would return. Many thanks

We were staying in another hotel however the lady who organised our booking was brilliant she made sure everything was sorted through numerous phone calls. We ordered the 7 course tasting menu and it was beautiful, every single course, but the banana dessert was our favourite! The staff were extremely pleasant, the views were amazing, the drinks beforehand. It was just a lovely experience. We are big into roof and tend to eat at michelin restaurants on the regular and this was probably the best experience we’ve ever had. We recommended it to everyone! If you are staying in the hotel and have the opportunity please do make a booking

Stayed on 23rd August, we have visited Madeira every year for the past 25 years this has got to be the worst hotel we have stayed in. Although it is very glitzy it is far too big, the lifts are dreadful if you don't select the floor you are going to quickly before someone on another floor presses the button it will start taking you down instead of up etc on one occasion we were in the lift for 40 mins trying to get to the Sky Bar in the end we gave up and went some where else. The service is dreadful we had a drink in the lounge bar one evening tables had not been cleared or wiped down from previous people, lunch at the pool bar was not much better, chose to have the fetta salad when it eventually arrived it was NOT fetta informed the waiter who just shrugged and said oh well ! Very few sun beds have a mattress so if you want any comfort you need to get up very early before they are booked, it is not possible to move or angle the sun shades so if you are in any way sensitive to the sun you will need to keep covered up. pool staff did nothing to stop the children many of whom were teenagers using the plastic sun beds around the pool as slides into the pool or stop the enormous inflateable's . Sea access is via the savoy Next hotel which is a long walk particularly coming back in the heat of the day. Be very careful of the highly glazed floor tiles several people slipped coming in from the pool to the lifts. we would never stay at this hotel again or recommend it to anyone there are much better hotels giving better service than this.

Savoy Palace in Funchal has all the necessary to make yor stay confortable in beautiful Madeira. The rooms are of good size, with confortable beds as well as great bathrooms. The viwes to the ocean are great as well as the swimmings pools that are really good. Downsize the breakfast that was very confusing... You cannot serv yourself with juice or water due to COVID but you can serve yourseld with milh touching everyting?! To serv the rest of the food it was also very confusing with people touching everything. A simple glove would do the trick. Late check out is not flexible. If you pass 2PM you pay extra 50€, despite being or not available the room... Not necessary in my perspective

Dear Valued Guest, Thank you so much for the high rating and for choosing to stay at our hotel. We are pleased to learn you have enjoyed your stay and that the rooms and its facilities, the views to the ocean and the swimming pool facilities were highlights of your experience with us. On the other hand, we feel disappointed to learn that you felt that the breakfast was confusing and that it did not meet your expectations. We have taken duly note of your constructive feedback for improving it in the future. Concerning to the late check out, its time is at 12h00, we consider that providing the possibility to extend it until 14h00 without any extra cost is a flexibility. After this hour, it is part of our procedures to charge the 50 EUR being this an extra service and benefit within the stay. Nevertheless, we would kindly like to inform that after 14h00 even without keeping the room, our guests are more than welcome to continue benefiting from the hotel's facilities without any extra charge enabling them to enjoy the day without having to leave our property early. Despite this, we have taken your opinion into high consideration. Looking forward to seeing you again in a near future. «Muito obrigado»! Warmest greetings from the entire Savoy Palace Team, Sincerely, José António Pereira General Manager
