Hotel's Favourite
After such a long time it was fantastic to arrive here, we paid for sea view on 7 floor, view is amazing. Everything here ticks the boxes. Comfortable beds clean spacious room. Carla on reception really helped us with all the documents we needed to print for our return to uk. Very covid safe in restaurant, great selection at breakfast Lenine always there with cheerful smile. And Serita and Fatima at the pool bar keeping us topped up with beer. Drinks are very reasonable prices. Must say this is the best hotel we have stayed at. Thank you all the staff for our wonderful holiday xx

Hotel spotless. All Covid rules in place. Couldn’t fault it at all. Lovely hotel with excellent staff. Would definitely recommend if you just want a relaxing holiday. Plenty of bars n restaurants close by. All very quiet but obviously due to the pandemic.

The thing that made this hotel stand out was the staff and service. From Carlos who was always on hand around the pool to tend to your needs, to the bar and restaurant staff who were always energised and ready to make your holiday relaxed and stress free. The pool was the perfect size for younger kids (1.5m at its deepest) and on the occasion we stayed, very few other families - just couples / small groups of friends which made it quite relaxed. The hotel was nice and is situated close (5 min walk) to an amazing Lido which is well worth a visit. There a number of good restaurants all reasonably price but be sure to book them in advance as the get busy - these one particularly Il Basilico, Mau Fauito and Kasbahs. Overall a really good hotel and location although the walk in to Funchal is about 25 mins but relatively flat.

Ok so it’s a modern, clean hotel in a great location overlooking the sea on a beautiful island. And we chose it because we thought we could trust a Melia as it was a reputable chain. But it is just not getting a few things right which is annoying as it could be amazing! Let’s not talk about ridiculous Covid measures that are worldwide and not relevant to just this hotel, albeit irritating. The good things are: location, loads of eateries within minutes walk, rooms are clean and spacious, amazing powerful shower, view is fantastic, pool area is lovely and overlooks the sea. Bad things are: breakfast has no clear management, no cutlery, tables not cleaned efficiently, feels a bit dirty. Pool service is 3 star. Nice people but no clear direction in terms of what you can eat at the sunbeds or in the restaurant. We were told we could have a sandwich only at the pool side and it would need to be on a plastic plate, everything else had to be eaten at a table in the pool restaurant. Sandwich arrived on a china plate! Get your act together! Sounds petty but just a lack of good management. No bars open. Staff needed in the restaurant apparently. If you want a lovely holiday in a great location with local amenities, this is fine. If you are looking for 5 star service and luxury, choose the Cliff Bay or Reid’s Palace.
