If I could have rated it 3.5 stars I would have. While the guest house has many good points the principal reasons it does not deserve 4 is the rate (nearly €200 per night) and the distance from where all the main sights of "downtown" Lisbon. That rate would have got us into several real four star hotels closer to...

We wanted to express our thanks for your kindness and hospitality during our visit at your hotel Casa Amora in Lisbon. You have the most comfortable and pampering rooms we have ever been in. (btw how can I order a set of your pillows?) We also greatly appreciated your recommendation to tour with Rui. He is a wonderful person, intelligent...

Staying at Casa Amora was a wonderful experience. The rooms were spotless, the breakfast, extremely generous and Paulo and Juan, affable and very helpful. We were a big group, and the charming breakfast area was a great place for us all to hang out. Staying there made Lisbon even more special for all of us.

We were a group of 11 people and we stayed in 5 of Casa Amora’s Studio Rooms and Duplex Studios for 4 nights. We couldn’t have asked for a better place. Juan, Luis and the rest of the team were warm, welcoming, friendly and helpful. They walked the extra mile in providing us with useful tips and suggestions, booking taxis...

I stayed here last year and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The apartment was beautiful and full of character. I shared a room with my sister and our mum had a room to herself. Juan was an absolute star - it was our Mum's birthday whilst we were away and he arranged a cake for her with candles which was lovely....

We knew we had found somewhere very special when arriving at Casa Amora in very wet and windy conditions, Juan appeared in the street, assisted us inside with our luggage and welcomed us with a glass of warm port! Our room was spacious and beautifully furnished, and unlike previous reviewers the renovations opposite were fascinating rather than a nuisance. The...

We started our honeymoon off here at Casa Amora. Juan and the rest of the staff as Casa Amora made our stay fantastic. Unfamilar with the Portuguese language, they put us at ease from the beginning, welcoming us with delicious snacks and a little glass of port. Our room was cozy and clean, and the guesthouse comfortable. One of our...

We spent 2 nights in Casa Amora. Wished we could have stayed longer! Juan was informative, warm and attentive. He booked a great walking tour for our first day in Lisbon that was a perfect overview of the city and it's history. The room was spacious and well appointed. We loved the location as it was quiet and next to...

We had a great time staying at Casa Amora in late March. Juan's thoughtful service made our time in Lisbon truly special. We stayed in one of the duplex studios which was great value for money and a great home-away-from-home for the week. The studio was clean and lovingly decorated and the bed was super cosy... probably more comfortable than...

What a terrific place to stay. It would be 5 stars but for the amount of walking needed. Maybe we are being picky though. It is very comfortable; the room is great - and quiet except for reconstruction of site opposite in the mornings. Breakfast excellent; glass of port in the evening; service SO helpful.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Casa Amora is a typical building of Lisbon’s early twentieth century petite bourgeoisie, renovated in 2012, with a small outdoor patio for rest or meals and 5 bedrooms (all with bathroom). Each room pays homage to one of the great figures of Portuguese art (painting, music, literature, film) of the last century. The process of renewal and adaptation carefully kept all the decorative elements existing in the rooms (plaster) and exterior (tiles, balcony), introducing a color palette that contributes to a peaceful and relaxing environment. Casa Amora is located in one of the nicest and most central districts of Lisbon, Praça das Amoreiras. In this neighborhood, where the 18th century Aqueduct (that survived the great Lisbon earthquake of 1755) reaches and end, Casa Amora is neighbor to Water Museum (Museu da Mae de Agua) and the Vieira da Silva / Arpad Szenes museum. Residents and visitors have easy and direct access to the neighborhoods of antique shops (Rua de Sao Bento and Rua da Escola Politecnica), historic districts (Bairro Alto and Chiado), Avenida da Liberdade and its fashion shops as well as the shopping center Amoreiras, all at walking distance. ... more   less
