We booked a triple room with private bathroom and i have to say that for the price we got a good accommodation but the best value was the location, facing rossio, metro and bus station just in front of the hostel and the main attractions at walkable distance, except belem of course. keep in mind that you're joining an hostel,...

We stayed in different small hotels in the centre of Lisbon on our holiday, they both had very small rooms and were quite hot at night. This Pension was quite OK and the staff were friendly and helpful but the room was really small and had the bathroom behind a kind of glass partition - rather than a separate room....

Very friendly staff, however the 'room' was like a cuppboard, right next to a loud banging door. I could hear everyone walking in and out and could not sleep at all. The room was very hot. The reception staff were very friendly and nice, I can't fault them. The rooms were a good price too.

I stayed in Santo Tirso from 21 to 26h June, must say that is very good small, little hotel and location is excellent! I booked a single room for 35Eur per day about a month in advance, however I got a double bed when I arrived, which is even better. My room was across the reception, and even though I...

Fantastic little hotel which is cheap and situated slap bang in the centre of Lisbon within walking distance of the metro, train station, shopping and bairro alto which is the main restaurant/bar area. The staff which altho speak limited English are very friendly and take an interest in your stay and try to help you out in any way they...

A tatty entrance next to the smart Cafe Nicola on Lisbon's main square leads to well-worn, steep steps up to this 3rd floor pension (there's no lift). Room was no-frills but comfy enough for the money. Even so, the en-suite was simply a segregated corner of the room, with the most basic shower & toilet. The room was noisy -...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
