I selected this "hotel" pension? because they allow pets at no extra cost, and I am traveling with my small dog. He was welcome! There is free WiFi. The location is very convenient and central. 28 euro a night (booked online). The staff are friendly. The breakfast is simple fresh bread with butter, cheese or jam, cornflakes, and cupcakes, with...

Had some trouble finding the place when we arrived as its not very well signposted. The room was basic but clean and tidy, and the location is excellent although there was a lot of building work going on. Staff were friendly and helpful and overall our experience was a very pleasant one.

Also 10 minutes walk from Praca do Comercio where the airport bus stops and the tourist welcome centre is.If you can't find it ask for the se =old cathedral, its across from it. Room 306 is best with a fridge and 2 balconies with great views of river and medieval street .Breakfast poor but included and served 8 to 11.Great...

Tired place, but with personality and endearing character. Strange mix of art - bare breasted women next to the Virgin of Fatima. A great location very central to the old city and newer parts, opposite the cathedral and very cheap. This place is not luxury though. In my bedroom was a big old empty fridge next to the sink, but...

Nice place,e nice house, but technical condition not perfect. Rather strong unpleasant smell... Poor sound isolation. Breakfast was mildly speaking timid. We saw very few people and that was admittable, but in high season it would be crazy house.

The room was simple with a bed, sink, and TV; but if you're like me, you'll only need the room to sleep; the reason to stay here is the location and price! 25€ per night right in the Alfama neighborhood and a 10 minute walk from Rossio Metro and the beach. The best experience I had was taking a 10...

Great location in the Alfama district of Lisbon, could see the cathedral from our window. Room was a good size with a fridge, sink and tv. Shared bathroom with other guests which was always clean. Breakfast was basic, hot drinks, cereal, muffins and bread but brilliant considering the price of the room - 30 Euros a night. To conclude a...

Clean and correct place, nice people. We booked it one week before and it was 30€ the night a 2 person bedroom (external bathroom) in July right into the nicest Lisbon neighborhood, breakfast included!

Great location in middle town. Keep in mind that the property is dark, the rooms have old mismatched furniture, and the beds are uncomfortable. IF location is the main thing-it is a great value. And the breakfast is very limited, with corn flakes, bread and muffins (just coffee and warm milk to drink).

I had some doubts about booking in this place after reading the comments, but honestly, it's a very nice hostel, very well located and for not too much money, breakfast is not the best one I've ever had but it accomplishes its mission as required. However, I need to admit the establishment is quite noisy, but if you don't have...

Staying in Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria

Neighbourhood Profile
Castelo, Alfama & Mouraria
Explore narrow streets and alleyways, small cafes and, of course, the internationally acclaimed Fado music. The earth-shattering Great Earthquake of 1755 destroyed most of the city but the contiguous neighborhoods of Mouraria, Castelo and Alfama remained standing to this day. These neighborhoods represent Lisbon at its historical best. The cool breeze of the Tagus river will take you up the hills to the sound of Fado, where you'll discover the best "tascas," eat delicious fresh fish and drink great wines. Discover hidden viewpoints and ancient traces of other civilizational ruins in the heart of the Portuguese capital. These are centuries-old neighborhoods that will welcome you to the very best of old Lisbon culture.
