We selected this hotel partially based on previous reviews here on TA and partially on its hip and inviting web site. It didn't disappoint. This was our first stop on a two-week trip around Portugal and Spain. Our hope was for a modern, quiet, well air-conditioned room to help us get over our jet lag, and that's exactly what we...

Really friendly and helpful staff. Rooms had micro kitchen with fridge hob and kettle and utensils. Plan to buy at nearby supermarket and save on breakfast and evening snacks. Does not have a bar area, but has free coffee machine in lobby. Many good bars and restaurants in different price brackets very close by. SHort walk to Tram 28 stop....

I recently stayed here on a short trip to Lisbon with my partner. We were very impressed! Upon arrival, we were checked in by a polite lady and given an excellent map and information regarding the city and its landmarks by an equally polite man. Our room was on the 5th floor and we were welcomed by a complimentary bottle...

My friends stayed at this hotel previously and loved it so when we went to Lisbon we stayed there as well. Hotel staff is very helpful, the hotel is small but very stylish, clean, modern (with mac and iPad in every room) and located right in the centre, short walk from all major attractions. This is the place where I...

We booked this hotel only a month or so before traveling, having found a good deal for four nights. The location was perfect, only a short walk to loads of places, and we couldn't fault the hotel at all. The room was nice, although compact, and we were particularly happy to have the kitchenette with a kettle and a fridge...

It is a lovely hotel in a very fashion vintage style in the center of Lisbon, room are small but very well organized including iPad or iMac and lots of vintage deco, incredibly comfortable beds with pillow menu! Small but efficient bathroom, excellent room service! In a small and under reconstruction street difficult to access unless you know the way...

Located in the center of Lisbon, this tiny hotel is very modern and luxurious. The staff is very nice and will take care of all your needs pretty fast. Brown's Coffee Shop, where you'll take your breakfast, has a very unique feel to it. It features a huge range of pastries, all tasting wonderful, we were really looking forward to...

Brown's downtown is easy to reach with the metro, and it is really downtown, not two blocks away from one of the busiest streets in Lisbon. The rooms are specious, quiet and very well equipped. The staff is helpful and friendly. You have to walk half a block to get breakfast, but it's a really good one. Highly recommended!

The staff and the location are what mostly distinguishes this hotel. The street scene in Lisbon is one of the city's principal attractions and Browns couldn't be much closer to that. We had the "suite" under the eaves and of that I can say only that the furnishings showed more imagination than taste and the "castle view" was through a...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
