Great hostel in a very central location. Has a boutique hotel feel. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I stayed in a private, ensuite room which was clean, roomy and quiet. If looking for a great stay in Lisbon I would say ditch the hotel and stay at this hostel

I've never stayed at a hostel before Lisbon Destination Hostel - and now I think I'm spoiled! What a great experience. Super clean, staff were friendly, and the BEDS HAVE CURTAINS. That's really important for me when sleeping in a shared space (the idea of people potentially watching me sleep creeps me out). Overall, I'd highly recommend this place and...

This hostel is very good : very well located, rooms are bright and clean, common area is cosy, good breakfast and the staff is friendly and available, which is in my opinion very important when you visit another country. They gave us good advice on what to visit and where to go to the beach. I enjoyed my stay over...

I Love my stay with Lisbon Destination. The easiest hostel to locate and extremely central. I went with my sister and Mother, booked a three person private for four nights and returned for a night before coming home. Our room was clean and comfortable, same with the bathroom. They were the most comfortable to sleep actually and I can't stay...

I loved this hostel and my only regret is that I didn't stay longer. I pinch myself thinking how cool it is that I stayed in a beautiful train station. Rooms: quiet, cute, clean, comfortable. In the afternoons I noticed staff constantly cleaning to make the facilities as lovely as possible. I loved that they inserted curtains on the bunk...

This hostel was probably one of the best experiences I had in Lisbon. There was a massive common area where many people can hang out. There were games available such as chess, pool, cards, ping pong, etc. People were extremely kind and welcoming. Chef Hugo is amazing and his food gives me life! The staff was incredible and made me...

I've been returning to Lisbon Destination hostel again and again since it opened. It really is fantastic and I wouldn't choose to stay anywhere else in Lisbon. First of all the location is wonderful - in the very heart of Lisbon and with vibrant places to visit on its doorstep. The hostel itself is beautiful - the communal area is...

Stayed at this hostel with a friend while backpacking around Portugal for three nights in late May early June. This hostel was awesome. Its location is great, at the top of the Rossio station making it very easy to access transportation. It's not far from the subway as well. The hostel itself is very fun, and it's got some really...

I have stayed for a couple of nights at the main Destination Hostel. I had the opportunity to enjoy fully the hostel. The staff is cool and helpful, the rooms are clean and stylish, the building in the station is awe-inspiring. Thanks to a great quality/price ratio, I definitely recommend to spend some time at Destination Hostel.

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In July of 2011, smack in the heart of downtown Lisbon - Rossio - a new hostel is born. It could be just another hostel, except it's not. Housed in one of Lisbon's most beautiful and renowned buildings - the Rossio Railway Station - an undisputed icon of late XIX Century Romantic architecture (and which has recently undergone a profound facelift), Lisbon Destination Hostel is perched around a winter garden, where light filters down from the rooftop, harmoniously flooding the patio and creating an ambiance that is both tranquil and upbeat. We had planned on catering to a specific target, only to realize later that we didn't have to. We're confident that, between the ample first floor bedrooms (sleeping 4 to 8) with large windows overlooking the historic city, and the double rooms one floor up which peer out over the winter garden, you - whomever you may be - will find your niche. And if all this weren't enough, please note that, from our doorstep, you can take the train to the town of Sintra, a Unesco World Heritage Site just 20 minutes' ride away. Once you get there, you'll understand why. ... more   less
