As other reviewers say, the location can't be beaten. Convenient for getting to the Tagus, metro and the elevators it was a great base. We had a deluxe room overlooking the square (oval?) and it was quiet and very comfortable. I liked the art deco building and the period deco - it felt different to the usual chains. The restaurant...

Thank you very much for your feed-back! I was happy to hear that you enjoyed the style of our hotel as well as our comfortable rooms. On top of that you had a highlight experience in our roof top restaurant "Rossio", nice! Thank you very much for your visit & take care, Julia Campos

I advanced a request for a quiet room. I was placed on the 6th floor below the restaurant. Late into the night both nights I stayed I was awoken by the sounds in the kitchen, especially items being dropped on the floor above me. I left the hotel exhausted and annoyed.

We stayed for a week in June. Great location for getting around town and pretty reasonably priced. Breakfast was a bit of a let down but the terrace is lovely and we had a few drinks up there in the evening and also ate in the hotel one evening and the food and service was very good. We also tried...

Thank you very much for taking the time to write a review. I am glad that you enjoyed the hotel and its location. It would have been interesting to know what was missing in your opinion but I understood that you couldn´t quite make out what it was yourself. Maybe on a future visit? We will be very happy to...

The reason that we choose this hotel was the location. It's 5 mins walk from the subway and 2 mins from the Rossio Train station. The room was beautiful and clean. Restaurants are all in the walking distance and shopping as well. The hotel staffs are way tooo friendly (a bit uncomfortable sometimes). They would want to follow you to...

Good Morning, I was sorry to hear that you felt uncomfortable with the attention given by our staff. Fact is that we try very much to antecipate our guests' wishes and it is part of our customer philosophy to always be proactively available. Apparently you felt that is was "too much" and I apologize for that but you can be...

This hotel is just around the corner from Rossio square, with it's shops and people watching. A subway stop is steps away, as is the ornate opera house. It is a 15-minute walk from the river. The hotel rooftop bar is a lovely place to relax with. Drink at the end of the day.

Someone once said that there are 3 keyfactors to the success of a hotel: location, location and location! We are blessed to have this brilliant location and are very thankful for it! I hope that you felt nicely accommodated on the interior as well. Kind regards and thanks a lot for having stayed with us. Julia Campos

We appreciate your kind comments on the facilities and services of our hotel. I am glad you made it to the airport on time, our "Avenida da Liberdade" has become more and more popular to host all kind of events. On the one hand, these events increase the attractiveness of the area, on the other hand, it causes additional obstacles....

Very impressive hotel located only a kilometre from the centre so an easy walk. Pleasant staff and exceptional team in the business centre when we lost a mobile phone: They could not have been more helpful. Comfortable bedrooms lacking nothing. Excellent breakfast choice and quality. Only criticism was the snooty maître d' who looked us up and down when we...

Dear Mr. Graham, thank you very much for your review. I am glad that you had an overall pleasant stay with us. However I was sorry to hear that you didn't feel invited to eat at our Restaurant, I am sure that the behaviour of my colleague wasn't intentional. That shall not be an excuse for the impression you gained,...

I would definitely recommend this hotel for a number of reasons. 1. It's location is fabulous. You can stroll around Baixa, Chiada and the Bario Alto districts without the need for taxis. Also, you can easily hop on the cable car or bus at a nearby plaza that will take you to Belem and the Alfama districts. 2. The hotel...

* Excellent Location, in front of the Rossio station, 2 minutes from restaurants/real centre of Lisbon/you don't hear anything about the noise outside! * A modern, clean room but very small! Bathroom was ok! * The breakfast was good but not "whauw"... As a 5-star hotel (and for this price) I expect different kind of bread, eggs and bacon, "hot"...

So, it is hard to beat this location in Lisbon. Directly across the street from Rossio Train Station, yet you do not hear any noise from the trains. Reception area is very nice and people were generally OK. However, the housekeeping was not good. In my room, the area under the bed was REALLY filthy with old socks, food debris,...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
