On the plus side is location. But: I did't like waterfall in the bathroom- every night being flooded by guests from the room above- not a pleasure. And staff approach to the problem- we have been asked when we are checking out and given towels to put on the floor. The room itself was quiet dark and blueish light bulbs...

My husband and I have recently returned after spending five days in the Pensao Residencial Norte. We stayed for four days, went to Porto on business and returned for one last night in Lisbon. The Pensao is typical of pensoes in Lisbon and is in an ideal location in the very centre of the city. It was spotlessly clean and...

I was visiting Lisbon after 15 years again. And my decision was very shortly, so that I reckon that have to pay much for accommodation. But then I have found the Pensão Residencial Norte in the heart of the popular area Baixa. And the price was good too. The Pensão Residencial Norte is a typical pension in Lisbon, where you...

Myself, my boyfriend and a friend stayed in a three bedroom room for two nights before catching a bus to a festival. It was just about bearable for the price and time we stayed. Our room was dark, cramped and smelled damp. It was hot, there was no air conditioning and when we opened our window to get some air...

The position of this hotel is very good, and we chose it because it has a lift, and one of our family can not use stairs easilly. It had fast, free internet. The price was reasonable for Lisbon (€50). Those are the good points. The rooms were small, dark, and smelled of damp, espcially the bathroom which had no window...

This hotel is great. Great location, close to trams and subways. Friendly staff. They clean the rooms everyday and change your towels if you want to. Free wifi and tv in the room. The rooms are pretty small and simple but you get what you pay for. Really nothing to complain about

The hostel rooms are quite old but in good conditions. The staff is friendly and helpful. The location is great, many monuments and places to visit at walking distance. The only thing is that my visit was during summer and my room didn't have any fan or A/C so it was quite hot. In general is a good place for...

If you want to stay in a budget hotel which provides all basic facilities and wifi in the rooms, with relatively clean bathrooms then stay in pensao residencial Norte. The location of the hotel was amazing, literally 4 minutes away by foot from the castle, one minute away from the famous elevator and generally all the important sights were within...

I was a little concerned by the low price of this pensao but after reading the reviews and after seeing how expensive hotels is Lisbon are, I decided to reserve. I think it was a total of $66 usd for a triple room with private bathroom per night. We got room 210 which was not facing the main road so...

Staying in Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores

Neighbourhood Profile
Baixa, Rossio & Restauradores
A pending candidate to become a World Heritage Site, Lisbon's downtown (the "Baixa Pombalina", or simply "Baixa") is a perfect example of anti-earthquake construction, having been rebuilt following the 1755 earthquake by the famous Marquês de Pombal (hence its name). Its offer is vast: restaurants and cafes in Rossio and Restauradores, outlets and shops in the Áurea, Augusta, Prata and other famous streets, the imponent Praça do Comércio and its Arch, the luxury shops along the Avenida da Liberdade, this is the beating heart of the city center. The Baixa also grants easy access to trains leading to Sintra, the trams that go around the Castle hill, old neighborhoods or even take you to Belém, and Lisbon's traditional restaurants and cafes. Considering a visit to the Fashion and Design Museum (free entrance) and don't forget to try the famous liquor, "ginjinha"!
