I booked the Palacete hoping to feel like Royalty to celebrate a special birthday - I wasn’t disappointed! 👸 We were welcomed wholeheartedly by the warm and genuine staff who can’t do enough to make you feel at home. We treated ourselves to the King Suite which has three floors topped by a balcony with a 360 degree view of Alfama, the oldest part of Lisbon. We were served an astonishingly good breakfast on our terrace on the first morning, but enjoyed the stunning dining room the next couple of mornings as we felt guilty watching the lovely staff patiently (and skilfully!) carrying everything up the winding staircases! (They assured us it was no big deal). Location, location, location - they say. Couldn’t ask for a more perfect position to explore this amazing City. Our Suite was spotless, furnished with beautiful, quirky furniture. The amazing shower was bigger than our entire bathroom at home 😂! What a treat. Don’t hesitate to come here if you have the chance.

Truly a delight on every count! We arrived from an early overnight flight and were welcomed into the beautiful living room and offered coffee while we waited a few hours for our room to be ready. The room was huge and the decor was lovely. It's a bit quirky, though, as the bathroom was carved out of the main room and enclosed in glass with curtains (it works just fine). Another quirk was two beds, which was ok for us for a few nights, but if not for you, you might want to clarify/ask if there's a room with a queen or king. The bedding was great. The breakfast was outstanding! And all the employees we encountered were charming. The location is right in the Alfama, so lots of stuff in walking distance. Tip: consider using their car service from the airport. Our Uber driver had trouble finding the place, and once you figure it out you're confronted with a substantial set of narrow stone stairs, which is a pain if you have luggage. You have to go through the arch to the immediate right of Taylor's Port and then turn right (you, on foot, not the car). Overall we highly recommend!

The Palacete was truly a palace for our stay this November. The service was the best and very personable. The room we stayed with a juliet balcony looking out over the river was incredible. We are definitely going back to Lisbon, and staying here.

A wonderful stay in Lisbon! The hotel was amazing. Such character in every corner. I wanted to stay longer and hope I can visit the hotel again one day. I am an artist and it is a dream of beautiful architecture everywhere. It has been renovated to be perfect for the time period. The rooms have an eclectic flair of different styles, but it was still perfect.

This hotel entrance is tucked away but well worth it. We entered via the street and walked up many flights to get to the front where we were greeted personally. Very friendly and welcoming introduction. Our room was breathtaking and took us back in time. We felt like we were living in a palace. We were given a lovely tour and then shown our room. Our room was beautiful (Lola)and really was well worth it. I'm not a huge fan of the bed but otherwise was lovely. The juliet balcony was a nice touch and the view was to die for. The hotel breakfast was lovely and the coffee was good. I wish we could have stayed longer. We really enjoyed our short visit here and will most certainly come back and stay. Highly recommend for a longer visit.

I don't know whether to call El Chafariz a "hotel", we felt much more at home that in a hotel, although with all the advantages of an excellent hotel. It is beautiful, quirky, unique, personal... And very Portuguese. The rooms are big, all different, comfortable, air con is quiet and reliable, beds are huge and extremely comfortable, plenty of cupboard space, a simple minibar (free) and a safe, bathrooms are big. Both the dining room and the sitting room have period decoration, including the ornate ceilings, the sitting room is very comfortable and has plenty of space, we sat there in the rain with a drink and felt as if we owned the place (we wish!). The terrace covered in buganvilia is the perfect spot for a cup of tea or a drink in the afternoon. As you leave your room in the morning you can smell the fresh pastries being baked, breakfast is fresh, varied, plentiful: bread and pastries, cheese and cold cuts, fresh fruit and juice, yogurt, eggs, bacon... Everything prepared on the spot. And plenty of dark, smooth, intense Portuguese coffee. Location is perfect, just at the entrance of the very lively Alfama, easy to walk to most places, short taxi ride otherwise. And then we come to the people. They are immensely attentive, polite, helpful, friendly... They welcomed us every time we rang the bell with a huge smile and the offer of a cup of tea (there is somebody to open the door 24/7). Yes, there are some steps (not that many) to the entrance but they will run to help you with your luggage. It is small, book early, we booked more than 2 months in advance (it was peak season) and just managed to get rooms. All in all, we enjoyed our few days here enormously and would go there again without a doubt, thank you for making our stay feel special.

This is one of the most beautiful hotels we’ve stayed in down to the smallest details. The decor, ambiance and level service are tip top! The manager, Xavier, and his team go above and beyond.
