Travellers' Choice
Set on the absolute waterfront of Cascais’s dramatic Atlantic coastline, Farol Hotel reflects the unique charm of the township. Delightful old-world houses and cobbled streets frame a graceful bay on Portugal’s spectacular Estoril Coast to tell the story of a bygone era. The capital, Lisbon and the international airport are an easy 35-minute drive along excellent roads. A local train also runs between the city and Cascais. Lisbon is served by full service and budget airlines from all the major European hubs, which include Frankfurt, Paris, London and Zurich plus Stockholm, and Moscow. Arrive fuss-free and in style at Lisbon International Airport with a pre-arranged Farol Hotel limousine to meet you and transfer the short scenic trip to Cascais. As a proud member of prestigious Design Hotels, Farol Hotel is a wonderfully eclectic composition of adventurous architecture that embraces a remodeled 19th century private mansion that was once owned by the Count of Cabral, together with unique contemporary additions. The result is an inspire union of the old and the new. The Farol Hotel has a non-smoking policy in all its areas.

You will love this 33 room boutique filled with amazing art and decor design so chic. The minute you walk through the front doors you are greeted with views of the wild Atlantic Ocean, jaw dropping views. We stayed in the most amazing walk out ocean view room that led to the most beautiful terrace and grounds overlooking the cliffs and sea perfect if you a private piece of paradise We enjoyed the luxurious breakfast with their top notch staff omelettes and crepes made to your liking and front seat to sea views We loved the sushi and pool side beverages. The pool sits on the cliffs and you are literally on the Atlantic Ocean Come here if you want Privacy, to enjoy the sand and salt of the Wild Atlantic Sea If you want to experience a one of a kind Experience Cheers and Well Done Hotel Farol

We stopped here for a drink as we were staying nearby. Lovely views and very friendly staff. We would come back for sure and the interior of the hotel was lovely. The wine was about €7 a glass which is fine. Worth coming for the view for a drink or two

To Mr and Mrs Smith and Design Hotek travellers, of which this hotel is a supposed member, lower your expectations. Whilst a beautiful location outside the town of Cascais, this is not a 5 star hotel. Aesthetically, the hotel is very run down and in need of TLC - especially the pool area which looks like a 3 star area at best (tired umbrellas, rusty sun loungers and uncomfortable chairs do not make the space enticing). The service by the pool was painfully slow and staff do not tidy up drinks or left over towels until the end of the day. To not provide complimentary tea or coffee facilities in the room is absolutely absurd, and to charge for coffee pods is absolutely outrageous and again not representative of a 5 star hotel. On arrival, we were not met with a welcome drink or towels - something which we feel is customary for a 5 star hotel. Overall our stay was very disappointing and we left feeling we had overpaid for the hotel. When checking out, I informed the front of house manager of these issues who noted them down but did nothing to rectify or appease the situation - even a complimentary drink by the pool would have been a nice touch.

Just spent 5 nights here & was a little disappointed after looking forward to a 5* rating experience! We had just traveled from Porto & had stayed in an exceptional 5* hotel there which I highly recommended. The staff here @ the Farol are excellent & from the moment we checked in until we left could not fault them & that includes Reception, restaurants & domestics, what let’s the hotel down is that it was looking a bit tired & requires updating, the rooms are quite small & depressing with limited facilities & to charge for coffee & tea is certainly not on especially for the prices charged for the rooms. The pool area needs looking at for safety as the steps down are concrete and cannot be seen in certain light as steps! Not good for anyone with limited visibility. On the HIT side the location of the hotel is 1 of the best in Cascais. The Staff are great, The Miss side, Management need to address their * rating.

Due to Covid situation we booked the hotel at lower rate and upon arrival we received an upgrade. That was good otherwise we would have had the feeling to have paid too much. Let me start with the good things: great position overlooking the sea, no better place in Cascais. Great sea views from the restaurant. Overall good service. Quality of the restaurant is good, although expensive. Overall we had the feeling that the hotel needs a general facelift (corridors, outdoor furniture, ...).
