We were nicely impressed with Casa de Sao Bento on a recent cycling trip to Coimbra. It has been developed in a very elegant style, keeping the original with a meld of modern. We stayed in a triple which was a superb use of space and lovely big windows. The friendliness of the staff was over-welming and when we completely forgot our bag of 3 helmets, they promptly sent them to us in Spain. Great service and we would not hesitate to recommend Casa De Sao Bento. Thank you for a wonderful stay.

This is a lovely hotel, with nice rooms and a good staff. Breakfast is good--everything here is good. I hope to return many times. The building is old, but the renovations have left the rooms very comfortable and I have found the staff to be very professional. i'm very happy here.

The best part of our stay at this hotel was that they promised that our room would be ready for us at noon (earlier than the 3pm check in), since we were arriving directly from Lisbon airport, via train, after having been on ann overnight flight. I think this in and of itself makes me give the hotel a five star rating. They didn't have to do this for us, but it made our arrival bearable and our nap possible. The room we had was clean and comfortable. We had a lovely deck, though unfortunately the weather made it impossible for us to really enjoy it. The breakfast was ample and delicious. The only issue we had was that we didn't find the special USB ports the first day, and were finding the phone charging very slow. Once we found these, we were fine! Also, though it was a little farther from the center of town than many other accomodations, it was very close to the University and only a 10 minute walk from the center.

This hotel was developed about 2015. A very nice newer hotel, large rooms, quiet area near university and the botanical garden. We had an enjoyable stay (2 nights). The bed was comfortable. Nice shower. In our first floor room the floor squeaked loudly. Other rooms did not seem to have this issue. A nice breakfast area with typical selections, but seating was a little tight for our 30 member group plus other occupants. We walked to center city to hear Fado singing, and ate at a nearby restaurant. From the hotel you walk either up hill or down hill. The Botanical Garden is close, but Garden areas are still being repaired from a windstorm a couple of years ago. Still a nice walk. Restaurants are not near, and the one we found, Luna Grill, was very mediocre with really tough steak.

so the area isnt the best with a run down building next door BUT the room was very clean and modern. You get a number to enter into a pad to enter doors and room so you cant lose a key ! Tv, fridge/freezer, walk in shower, air conditioning, hair dryer. Towels are replaced daily and room cleaned and beds made. Breakfast is included and the variety is fabulous ( everything you could want) Staff are SO helpful. Breakfast is 8-10 but we needed to leave everyday by 8.10 so they opened up early for us to grab a bite to eat. Nice roof terrace where we sat most evenings with a bottle ! We were in room 1 and right by the door. fortunatley the other holiday makers were quiet but you could hear the door open and shut and the floor boards squeaked a bit but we slept through it but if you were a light sleeper room 1 wouldnt be the one for you. It is high on a mountain the walk down id fine but the way up is hard. I believe there was a bus but we had a car. There were some nice restaurants in the area and some real Gems hidden about the streets. I really liked the place. a few shops round the corner...you need to explor this town....we missed the shops til we were going home but found the ones in the main town by the river.
