This was a wonderful guesthouse with a welcoming and helpful host. Our room was large and clean and could only have been improved by the provision of a fridge and air conditioning. The terrace and garden were tranquil areas in which to relax, read a book while sipping a drink. The location is good for exploring Horta on foot and was only a ten minute walk to the harbour. Where else would you want to stay when in Horta?
We stayed here for 4 nights , 2 in the log cabin and 2 inside the main building. The cabin was comfortable although very warm at nights as we could open the windows because of mosquitoes. Inside the hose the rooms are very spacious with comfortable beds and good sized showers. Our room also had a fridge and hob. Sarah was excellent and even had breakfast ready for us a 7 one morning as we had a ferry to Pico to catch. The walk down to the town with the view of Pico was brilliant. Sarah recommended a great restaurant CASA that was vegetarian ( we were not!!) but we went 3 times and were never disappointed. Wonderful selection of food for breakfast with lovely freshly baked cakes. Sarah even brought me our a guitar to stum in the evenings.
Ruth's unique and bohemian B and B was FAB! From nautical maps, comic book collections to quirky room decor and appetising breakfasts this was the best stop on our Azorean adventure. Ruth's knowledge and advice was invaluable to make the most of our 4 day stay.
I had 5 nights in early July. Lovely little hotel. I stayed in a "log cabin" style structure about 30 secs walk from the main hotel building. Very comfy . The cabin had it's own cooker and fridge if one required it. Breakfast was provided in a lovely dining area and space outside if weather was nice. Near enough to the promenade and centre of town / restaurants though just far enough away to feel as though you were far removed from hustle and bustle. Just be aware there is a little uphill walk to get to it from the prom, not far but if you're tired and it's hot it is as well to be aware. Not a problem for me. Owner Ruth was lovely and very obliging.
my usual hideaway niche whenever travelling to GFayal Is...very friendly owner and staff, very hippie-like decor, all 60+s, veils, and other paraphernalia, containing a small library next to the breakfast room, nice well-manicured typical garden, all rooms I have tried so far are different, personalised and customised to please.. silent environment ..in a secludedd area of the santo Antonio Hill overlooking Pico mountain and the Canal...
