I visited Lagos as a solo traveler, and my first booking was in a hostel that made me feel uncomfortable. I decided not to stay there, and left crying in the street. The receptionist at Casa de Sao Goncalo da Lagos saw that, and offered me a room that was beyond my expectations. The room was beautiful, I had my... More

I have been here with 2 friends of mine and stayed for 4 nights. We had a triple bedroom that was very nice and clean, with a view on the inner court and with a large private bathroom. The position is great (it's in the middle of Lagos nightlife) and the atmosphere is definitely cool! The staff is really nice,... More

We booked a double bedroom, choosing this hostel because of the great reviews. It was indeed a great place to stay, very central, and great to meet other travellers. The staff very helpful, the hostel well equipped (lounge area, kitchen & supplies, more). The one thing that was a little bit disappointing was the maintenance of our room. Light switch... More

We booked into here for one week in a private room and to be honest we're a little dubious - not knowing if we would like it' it was great, really has a lot of character and buzz about the place. Basically in the main centre, though far enough away from the main hustle and bustle. Room was cleaned everyday,... More

I really enjoyed staying at this hostel, the staff were helpful, the breakfast is nice, there is a spa and a great indoor and outdoor chill area. Not to mention a great location. Would definitely stay here again. Only downsides is the wifi was a little slow and the wall chargers, well they didn't have many at all. Great hostel,... More

the location of this hostel is great, its a five minute walk to everything important in lagos. the staff is very friendly and helpful, the rooms are cheap and huge and the setting is very nice: its an old, historical building with a nice middle-age flair and a jacuzzi on the terrace. the rooms are very quiet, although its in... For a start you could not get a more central location in Lagos, right in the middle of the old town close to all the bars, restaurants and beaches. The hostel is a converted 4 star hotel with bags full of character. My girlfriend and I had a private room, very spacious with wardrobe and comfy bed overlooking the quaint... More

We arrived at Casa de S. Gonçalo without having booked in advance (luckily they had beds available but it's not always that way) and we ended up staying in one of the nicest places of our whole trip. The staff were very helpful and spoke great English. That's how we found out that the old Portuguese manor had been recently... More

Frommers' reccommendation of this place made it sound great, so we booked it over the phone (which was difficult, as the staff speaks very minimal english), but were VERY disappointed with our stay. The place is indeed charming, with an outdoor patio, lots of twisting hallways and portuguese tiles lining the stairs - but "charming" can sometimes be a synonym... More
