This hotel is a true gem. It is situated on fantastic spot right by the sea with spectacular views and lovely sunsets. Very close to beaches. It has a wonderful garden and large terraces. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and has large beautiful rooms, with ample spaced bathrooms. The only downside is that there is no door to the bathroom, so no privacy which we found quite annoying. I would really recommend them to put in doors and close the opening above one of the sinks.
The restaurant is excellent, and staff is super knowledgeable about wines. We learned a lot, and that was not their sommelier who was on leave! All staff are super nice and personal in a very nice way. They also have a spa, we took massage which was excellent. We truly loved our stay there, I cannot praise Vivenda Miranda high enough!

I didn't really want to review as this fantastic Boutique getaway as it might get too popular. But nevertheless these guys deserve a review. Came for a quiet 4 night break in late January. traditionally the quietest month in The Algarve.

The hotel had not long reopened for a winter break but you would never know. The place is spotless, rooms utterly fantastic and the setting overall is pretty unbeatable in my view.

The service from everyone is just amazing and unbelievably friendly, kind and helpful.

Whilst the pool was not open (wouldn't have gone in anyway as weather not quite warm enough in January) it didn't seem to matter as the gardens are immaculate and jaw dropping all other facilities were there and fully functioning in particular the bar and restaurant.

Now, you have seen some reviews about the chef and his food here and how good he is. Well, we were blown away how good he really is! Utterly delicious, fresh and innovative in parts. Nice guy too, makes a point of introducing himself and chatting in a relaxed way. The wine is superb too with some great Portuguese classics that are recommended by the in house sommelier.

We will 100% return. Already can't wait!

Thanks all.

Not only is the hotel's location truly exceptional (very few establishments in the world can boast such a spectacular view of the sea and cliffs), it's also a haven of greenery and calm in an increasingly touristy region. The team charmed us with their kindness and humor. The restaurant (both breakfast and dinner) was far beyond the other restaurants we have visited in town. The only tiny drawback is that the decoration of the rooms is rather divisive. We plan to come back once a year to unwind and recharge batteries - our stay was a true gateway from business life. ENJOY !!

We checked into this hotel after a long hot drive from Lisbon. We paid a hefty amount for a sea facing room. We were assured airconditioning. After many complaints we had several members of staff coming and assuring us that in a few hours the room will cool down. No cooling happened and my wife who is heat intolerant wrote to the the general manager about the problem at 11pm last night. We still have not heard back at 7.15pm today the next day.
We do feel totally ripped off as servicrs that were offered were not delivered. We do feel that we ought to be refunded/ compensated for the room charge without an ac.
We feel rather helpless as we do not know who to approach.

My husband and I stayed here for our honeymoon and I specifically joined trip advisor to write a glowing review after he mentioned others had written poor reviews. This hotel is an absolute gem. While the decor is a bit dated (though very funky), the views and service significantly outshine any benefit gained from a modern sconce over a marble sink. The hotel is small and quaint with excellent service. (Bruno was so nice and friendly!) The views from the rooms, terrace and lawn are absolutely stunning. The landscaping is impeccable. And it was so quiet! A true oasis. I highly recommend to anyone seeking a beautiful, calm, quiet stay in Lagos.

Other info about the Algarve/Lagos - we only stayed in Lagos and were there 4 days. We rented a car but did not use it except to/from the airport in Faro. Ubers to the old town (where most restaurants are) are cheap and you can walk from the hotel to a nice coastal hike with stunning views and to a nice beach from the hotel. Make sure to make dinner reservations ahead of time - walk-ins were a challenge and we had trouble making dinner resies even two days out.

This boutique hotel is not one you would pass while driving and decide to call in... it is delightfully secluded in verdant green well-tended, though not extensive, cliff-top grounds not far from Lagos. We booked late last week and were very lucky to be able to stay even for just the one night over our wedding anniversary (they were fully booked for other nights). From the very start -beginning with "Reception Agent" Manuela's cheery and helpful welcome through to our departure the next day we had a most memorable time - for all the right reasons!
The room, although compact, was very comfortable and well served with excellent aircon (vital at this time of year); equipped with very comfortable twin beds (- OK so we have been married a long time!). Dinner = on the cliff-top terrace was something truly special, watching the fishing boats take-up position on the flat-calm sea as the sun sank below the horizon. The meal itself was beautifully presented and of excellent quality - a truly succulent filet steak. They offer a wide selection of wines from which to select - ranging from the very drinkable (and well-priced for a top restaurant) to the "something really special" offerings. Throughout our stay the staff were attentive, but not intrusive; their service cheerful and totally "on the ball".
We both tried the spa in the afternoon; I had one of the best massages ever while Mrs... enjoyed a really good face massage - so she claims.
All in all a superb 20 hours of getting way from the heat, frayed tempers and general bustle of the Algarve in August and celebrating in style! We will be back for the Big One, same time next year - all being well. Thank you all at Hotel Vivenda Miranda!

We had the most amazing 3 days for our honeymoon, beautiful room with separate lounge area and balcony with a sea view. We had an ice bucket with a bottle of sparkling wine on arrival with chocolates courtesy of the hotel. All the staff from housekeepers, concierge, restaurant and bar staff were so friendly and welcoming throughout our stay. We were lucky with the weather and able to eat outside on the terrace overlooking the sea and saw 2 lovely sunsets. The food was delicious and portion sizes very good at all mealtimes. We enjoyed sunbathing on the loungers with amazing views, cooling off in the pool and walking round the beautifully kept gardens. I enjoyed one of the best spa treatments I have ever had. Just loved the colour schemes and decor throughout the hotel. It was a real taste of luxury just right for our honeymoon, we will definitely be back. Thank you Hotel Vivienda Miranda for making this so special and memorable for us. Jane and Nick

Simply one of the best hotels I’ve ever stayed at. From the moment we entered the hotel till we left the parking lot the service was outstanding and unparalleled. All we met were smiles and the feeling of a genuine wish from all the staff that we were satisfied in every way possible. The room was delicately decorated and the shower is the best shower I’ve ever experienced! Plenty of hangers and room to put away clothes. We stayed for a week and I like to unpack the suitcases, and be organized. The location of Vivenda Miranda is extraordinary. It’s located on a cliff with beautiful views and always the sound of the waves below. Only 5 mins walk to the beach and to an amazing walkway along the cliffs. The Mirandus restaurant offered great food (and wine) for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Romeu (a bit unsure about the spelling) was an amazing restaurant manager who went out of his way to take the very best care of us. I’m just very impressed by the high level of quality of the service and food. I highly recommend this hotel although I feel like I have found a hidden gem that I would like to keep for myself.

Having visited this hotel previously we booked lunch for our party to celebrate a special birthday. Confirmation was provided by the hotel of the birthday request. The booking was difficult with the request having to be left to see if the manager would accept the booking, albeit 5 of the party were kids.

We arrived for lunch the starters tasted great, all kids meals came out early way before the starters. One of the starters was incorrect and we waited for the correct dish to be provided. All the kids had eaten their food and we had no sight of the mains 2 hours in to our booking.

We were served the incorrect food from another table which we rejected. the correct mains finally arrived with one meal not cooked correctly, the dish was taken away and returned 25 minutes later. Based on timing anticipated that a correct meal would be made …. However it was just recooled and served cut as per how it was sent back.

Reception staff were rude, service very slow. Restaurant manager thanked for feedback, no apology, no cake for the birthday guest and €324 euros later. They advised they would try better next time, not good enough. We won’t be coming back, save your money the views aren’t worth the price, slow service and not what you would expect from a high rated hotel and restaurant.

Response from Ricardo Martins, General Manager at Boutique Hotel Vivenda Miranda
Responded 8 Aug 2024
Dear Helen, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We sincerely apologize that your recent visit to Mirandus Restaurant did not meet your expectations, especially on such a special occasion as a birthday celebration. We are truly sorry to hear that our service fell short of the high standards we strive to maintain. Your feedback regarding the delays, incorrect dishes, and how these issues were handled is invaluable to us. We understand how frustrating this must have been, particularly with young children in your party, and for that, we deeply apologize. We did prioritize your request to serve the children’s meals alongside the adults' starters. However, we acknowledge that the rest of the service did not proceed smoothly, and we regret that this impacted your celebration. Regarding the birthday, we had prepared a homemade cake to help mark the occasion. Unfortunately, due to your decision to leave shortly after the main course, we were unable to present it as planned, which we sincerely regret. We also regret that our reception staff may not have provided the warm and welcoming service we are known for. I understand this may have stemmed from our procedure of accepting parties of eight or more only on a set menu basis to ensure timely service and consistent quality. However, we made an exception at your request and booked your party of nine under the à la carte menu after confirming with the manager. While we aimed to accommodate your preferences, we regret that the experience did not meet your expectations. Please be assured that we are addressing these concerns internally to prevent such issues in the future. While we understand that we cannot undo your disappointment, we offered our sincerest apologies on the day, along with a gesture of goodwill in the form of a €81.80 discount. Should you consider giving us another opportunity, we would love to welcome you back and provide the exceptional service and experience you deserve. Thank you again for your feedback. We hope to have the chance to make things right in the future. Warm regards, Ricardo Martins General Manager

For the 10th time I visited this beautiful hotel. 10 years in a row, except the covid-year. I got a really warm welcome with a delicious present in my room. Maybe every guest will get that or maybe it was because I come here every year. I don't know. But I sure enjoyed it! A few years ago almost the entire staff changed. New management, new chef de cuisine, new staff in the restaurant and new workers in the gardens. The service improved from good to perfect. The personal attention was very friendly and always willing to meet your needs or wishes. The food that was served was excellent! My compliments to the team of the kitchen and to the whole team of Vivenda Miranda. Here all the senses are pampered for an ultimate and relaxing experience. Hopefully until next year! Btw I stayed in room number two.
