Da Gale is a small beach hotel. Its style is very Portuguese, it has 60 double and triple rooms, with or without balcony, and almost all have a sea view. All rooms have their own private bathroom with bathtub, a telephone, safety box and cable TV. The top floor is home to the Navy Bar, with its panoramic view. This is where we serve breakfast and create a friendly relaxing atmosphere right through to until midnight, with background music to soothe you as you gaze out to sea and across the marvellous Albufeira coastline.

WARNING ⚠️
Worst customer service I've ever experienced
I came back to the hotel with my son on day two with some beers and when entering reception i was practically chased by the owner shouting and screaming at me bringing beer to my room.
He kept shouting Portuguese law you cannot bring alcohol into this hotel and was very aggressive about it.
The bar in the hotel only opens at 4pm and closes at 12 so there is no way to purchase a drink from the hotel.
Not even a bottle of water is sold here and also no food available full stop apart from the horrible breakfast.
The coffee machine must take 2 minutes to produce one cup and the orange juice which you would think would be fresh was watered down and basically is worse than diluted juice. You get a choice of horrible cornflakes or chocolate cereal and then some bread.
We had maintenance banging and hammering outside our room from 10am which didn't surprise me by this stage and we also had maintenance again open our room door at 8am by mistake on our last day.
The bar at night had literally one person in it and when we tried to grab some water after being out the bar was closed at 23:20 and the barman refused us access even tho it was meant to be open until 12.
Also on day 3 there still hadn't been a maid to the room so we had to ask for fresh towels and bed sheets from reception.
I tried not to make this review long and boring but it's impossible and I've other things like no A/C skinny little beds and about a million steps to climb everytime we returned to the hotel. The biggest thing for me was the manager out screaming at me about bringing some beer back to my room and making a complete show of me and my son.
Simply this is by far the worst place I've ever stayed in my 45 years on this planet and i advise everyone to stay well clear of this hotel. The Jardim round the corner where my friend and wife stayed was the place to be and we spent most of our time there so not to ruin our holiday because of the hotel horror show at Hotel Da Gale.
Basically the manager who made it very clear that this is a two star as did the bar man and this isn't even a one star 😳 the other staff and cleaners were lovely but that is the only plus. My beer is stashed in the hedge halfway down the big steps if anyone is interested lol

The worst hotel manager i have ever met in my life. After over booking their hotel rooms and having no room for us we got verbally abused by the worst manager i have ever come across in any business. No respect and complete disregard for his own staff, belittelling them and reprimanding them in the reception area infront of guests, this man should never work in a toursim industry.
He cancelled our booking withour our consent and left us with no accommodation for the night in Mid august .

This manager - Carvalho Serquira - should be fired. He was so rude to me and my family after over booking the hotel and therefore we didnt have a room. His exact words were 'Why did you book here? Because it was cheap? This is what you get for a cheap hotel'
We were verbally abused. He treats his staff so poorly in front of all customers and should not be allowed to work in hospitality at all. His staff are so afraid of him. Please rather just pay more somewhere else, until this man is fired nobody should support this hotel.

Awful hotel. Greeted (if even) by a rude receptionist. Room was dull, outdated and uncomfortable. Bathroom was the only nice thing about the room (besides the door not physically closing and being stuck wide open) we had to go to a new hotel over this! Lasted ONE night, AVOID wasn’t even cheap to stay.

+1
As stated it is a two star hotel and in need of updating.
The breakfast was very basic but served its purpose. And a lovely view from there and the pool.
Our room was very warm as outside the window there was a roof, so no air circulating.
Bathroom had been updated and very good. Lots of hot water. Our beds were comfy and the room was very clean.
In a good position for the old center of Albufeira where it all happens and so many restaurants to choose from. But it’s uphill back , nothing too steep though.
And to the lovely beach 5 mins which has a lift from the top.
All the staff were so lovely and could not do enough for us.
They are all a credit to this hotel.

Great hotel, with a very nice sports bar onsite. Pool looked good but it was a bit cold to use in November.
Good location, a short walk down to the beach, and also lots of restaurants within a short walking distance.
Rooms were good, and there was a spa but we didnt use on this trip.

PLEASE READ - Especially young females.
I am writing this complaint as I and a younger friend have been left truly frightened, and upset about our recent three-night trip to Albufeira, Portugal which we had booked via Travel Republic. We had booked our full package holiday with travel republic; flights, hotel and transfers which we expected for this to run smoothly as this company is supposed to be good and well trusted. But we have been left never wanting to travel again from this.
Our flights with Ryan air run smoothly, although there was a slight delay with the travel time. We arrived at Faro Airport at approximately 1910hrs which we did not have a problem with. Flight number: FR1766. Reference: FVFKTI. Price paid for flights: £229.00.
We managed to get through passport control smoothly, and then found our way to the local transfer desk which we had booked in advance via travel republic. Best Transfers 4 U which had cost us £42.00. We checked in with no problems and we were told to wait beside the desk until all bookings had checked in at the transfer desk. This again took approximately 30 minutes, so we had been delayed a while in getting into the transport to our hotel. The journey took around 45 minutes to Hotel Da Gale, and we were the first drop off.
Arrival at Hotel Da Gale, approximately 2010hrs. Arrived, and told to go into the reception by the bus driver and informed that someone would be waiting for us on arrival. We entered the hotel, to find no one on the reception for around 20 minutes. At this point we were getting worried that we would not be seen by anyone until the morning, but I had checked on the booking forms that check in was on the 6th August and Checkout was on the 9th August. So there shouldn’t have been an issue. Before long, approximately 2030hrs, a middle aged man arrived (unable to remember his name) who explained to us that check in was no longer available after 2000hrs. I explained that I had paid for a room at this hotel, via Travel republic, and that we had received no information about check in times. He then began to inform us that we could not have a room at this hotel, as there were no rooms available. I asked him to explain why this was the case, and retrieved my booking for proof that we had a room booked and paid for at his hotel. He tried to sweet talk us young ladies, calling us beautiful English girls and that he would try and sort this out. This was very patronising, and we really just wanted to have a room at his hotel as it is what we had paid for. Before long, he informed us that there was a room available at the sister hotel, which we would be able to stay for the duration of the holiday if we liked it. He said that this would be free of charge, which we needed it to be as we had not brought any extra money on holiday as we did not think that we would have to mess around going to another hotel!!! He then asked if we drove, as we needed transport to get there. I explained that we were here on holiday, and have not hired a car to travel. He offered us transport which we were reluctant to take as we had only just met this man, we are in a foreign country. But unfortunately this was our only decision to make which left us feeling frightened, and very weary. He put our cases in a 3 seater white van, and asked us to get into the front which was very cramped. He then made jokes about his hands being near the bottom of my dress as he reached for the hand break. This was completely unacceptable and made me feel very uncomfortable. His driving was erratic, and we had to break hard several times due to him not concentrating on the road. We were both scared, and worried about where he was taking us. We then turned left underneath a building into a dark carpark at the back of a hotel. He asked us to get out, and still continued to call us beautiful young girls as he lead us into another hotel which I cannot remember the name of as it was dark, and we were unable to see. We think that the hotel could have been called the Riviera hotel but we were so traumatised we didn’t get what the man in charge said. I have recently tried to research what the hotel was called but I am unable to find this.
On arrival of the hotel, approximately 2110hrs, we were taken inside, and asked to wait at the bottom of the stairs where the man in charge went upstairs to two ladies on the reception dealing with a booking / what also looked like it had gone wrong. The man explained to us that he had explained the situation to one of the ladies on the reception who would deal with our problem, and accommodate us for the rest of the holiday. At this point we were just happy to have been offered a room since we had been traveling since 1100hrs that day. He shook our hands, continued to patronise us by saying that we were beautiful and hoped that we enjoyed our stay. He then left the building. We were told to wait in the bar area, and had to wait around 60 minutes to be seen. Nowhere to buy food or drink and no information regarding our room yet. Once a party had been dealt with we were then next to be seen. The lady on reception informed us that they had no rooms available. My heart wanted to shatter into a million pieces. It was dark, we were tired, and we now have been let down for a second time in 2 hours that there was no room available for us. At this point, we were both upset and frightened that we would not have anywhere to stay for 3 nights. I had only been to Portugal once before, so I would not know my way around, and we certainly did not have any money to find another hotel. We asked for them to ring the man who brought us to the sister hotel so that he could sort something out, otherwise we would have been left to sleep in the streets. A further 30 minutes later, after trying to contact Travel republic, the man arrived back at the hotel, with no solution to the problem. After much upset of trying to sort something, he said he could put us up in a room 10km outside of Albufeira, which was completely unacceptable. Why he would even offer this as an option to two young vulnerable ladies was an absolute disgrace. He could have taken us anywhere, and we both did not want to accept this offer for our own safety. Not only did we want to feel unsafe, we had paid for a 3 night stay in the centre of Albufeira to be in Albufeira. At this point, it was going on 1100hrs. We had given up hope, and the first night of my holiday I did not expect to be sat on my suitcase in an alley way crying because I was scared and worried I would have nowhere to stay. We tried to compromise with this man and ask for him to put us up for one night in a local hotel just so that we had a room. And due to these being more expensive than his hotel, he refused. He then said if we could pay for another hotel he would take us there. The cheapest and closest hotel that we could find was Hotel Califonia, Urban beach. He took us in the car near to the old town centre approx. 15 mins walk to the hotel we would try and get into. We walked with our suitcases after the horrendous 2-3 hours waiting and contacted parents who luckily had to transfer us money from their savings at 1100hrs so that we could be safe in a room in a foreign country.
We arrived at California Hotel Urban Beach where we explained our situation, obviously distraught at with our problem and they were comforting and accommodating. They were able to offer us a room for EURO:699.00. We did not at this point have a choice but to pay this, and we were finally let into another room, that we had again had to pay extra for. We finally got into our room around midnight, at which we had then missed our first night. Due to stress, and anxiety we decided to go to bed so our first night of the holiday was missed.
The following day, 07.08.19, I received a voice mail message in the afternoon from 0618hrs that morning stating that we could return to Hotel Da Gale as they were able to accommodate our booking. Ofcourse, we couldn’t return as we had paid EURO:699.00 for a new hotel, and did not want to be made to feel like we did before so we did not contact them back. But what would we have done for the 10 hours that they could not accommodate us? Sleep on the streets? Sleep in the hotel reception with no diet or fluid intake? Possibly have our belongings stolen? I honestly truly believe that we had been treated as vermin, and that it didn’t matter where we would be staying that night, and that the hotel room we had booked had been sold onto another paying customer.
Although this is a very big complaint, I would like to thank Jacob who contacted me on Thursday 8th august to discuss this, and was understanding that I wanted to enjoy my holiday and that I would discuss when I arrived home. He sorted out our paid transfers to pick us up from the new hotel, and said that we would be sorted out on arrival home in relation to the extra money we had to pay for a new hotel, and the £318 that we paid for a room that was unavailable. Not to mention the night that had been wasted as we did not check in to a hotel until 4 hours after the expected check in time.

Were do i start ?? On the positive we stayed here two years ago and it was terrible, no bar open , rude staff and not great at all saying we wouldnt ever come back ! We thought we would give it one more go as price very reasonable! Arrived and the hotel looks like its under new management. Staff very polite and hepful and the decor in reception and rooms alittle better . However still working on the hotel which really should of all been done before new guests arrived ! No water in the pool which is very poor , water turned off for a period in the day and leaking water pipes in our bathroom! Its a shame as we def wouldnt stay here again as alot better places for the money

I can safely say I’ve never written a review on a hotel but I felt I just had to this time.
Never in my life have I witnessed such rude, arrogant staff. The night shift lady with glasses actually made me cry in front of her how rude she was and showed no remorse what so ever.
Let’s start with the staff. We got kicked out onto the streets for the night because they couldn’t find our booking and unless we paid ANOTHER £700 upfront they wouldn’t help us. We begged for a room showed all our booking information and confirmations and she just shaked her head so 12am in the morning me and my partner were walking the streets of Portugal with suitcases and no where to stay. We went back the next day and miraculously they’d found our booking and the manager told us for the troubles we wouldn’t have to pay for drinks at the bar all night.
The rooms were hot with no windows or fans or aircon. We had a balcony door but that’s all. The shower barely worked, hairdryer didn’t work, tap didn’t work, TV didn’t work, lights didn’t work, room didn’t get cleaned our entire stay. There was mould and damp. The covers were dirty and stained and we had to ask at reception for pillows for the bed as there were none to which we were told they would ‘try and find some’ what do you mean try!!!!!!!???
We tried to relax a bit and go to the bar which resulted in the same lady that kicked us onto the street and the bar tender refusing us drinks. They wouldn’t even give us water.
Don’t excited for the free breakfast all it is is an option of 2 cereals, apples and oranges or bread rolls (no toast, nothing).
The is by far the worst service I have ever received not just in a hotel but anywhere. Staff clearly don’t care about their jobs or their customers. Numerous times heard people complaining to the reception about missing items in their rooms also. The only thing staff were attentive about was kicking us out of our room half an hour early on check out day.
Cannot stress enough if you want to go on a holiday and not a week long argument - DO NOT COME TO THIS HOTEL!!!! 0 stars.

What can I say about this health hazard?.. Filthy bathroom mould dirt grime and hairs in bathroom and over shower curtains..filthy and disgusting. Room not cleaned and towels not changed till we asked.. First room was a disgrace balcony/ terrace was a small area with no sun overgrown with bushes and no sea view as requested.. Took over 24 hours to change our room after threatening to do a trip advisor review.. New room was not much better with car park view.. Rooftop pool area littered with beer cans and bottles and not cleaned in the full week we were there.. Don't start me started on the breakfast!!.. Bread jam and dodgy fruit which had seen better days cheap disgusting cereal.. Really not fit for human consumption!.. Fresh orange juice was weak watery diluting juice.. The breakfast was so bad we ate out at local cafés the whole holiday.. Cardio workout every time you left the hotel due to the amount of steps to main door!!.. Avoid this hellhole at all costs.. A totally ruined holiday in this dump!!

If you arrive 8 pm you have to write them in advance and get the agreement or else they will provide the room to someone else. Same happened to me my flight arrived 10.30 pm they have not allowed me room. For same room they are taking money from 2 persons.
No, if you have pre-paid for your stay that should be it but if you use the safe they charge €2 per day for that. Hope that helps!

There wasn't in our room, but we opened the doors at night for the breeze and it was perfect.
