Balaia Golf Village Resort & Golf is celebrated for its vibrant pool atmosphere and commendable sports facilities, though some guests feel the rooms could use a refresh. While the resort is generally praised for its cleanliness and well-kept grounds, opinions on room quality and housekeeping vary.
The resort's location splits opinion; it's central for some but challenging for those with mobility issues due to hilly terrain. Service is often lauded thanks to the friendly staff, though there are occasional reports of less welcoming interactions at reception.

Detailed Reviews
I visited this beautiful resort with my family on July last year and it was one of the best holidays I have ever went on.
The apartments were very clean and tidy. The beds were super comfortable. My family was never bored because there was six pools, lots of really good entertainment at the pool and there was a beach not long away. It was in a really good location as the supermarket was only between 10-15 min to walk there. There was a bar there that served drinks and snacks, it was cheap and refreshing so you didn’t have to walk back to your apartment to collect a couple of Euros. The main strip/ street of restaurants was only a 15-20 minute walk. And to top it all off on the way back from the strip there is a dessert van so you can enjoy I Nutella filled crepé on your way back to your apartments. I will definitely be back visiting Balaia Golf Village.

We arrived late in the evening and were greeted at reception by the lovely Luisa. She was warm, friendly and informative about where we could find the necessities in the morning.
We were driven to our apartment and helped with our bags.
Upon entering the apartment we were amazed by the size! We had a 2 bedroom superior apartment and it didn’t disappoint. The ‘master bedroom’ had its own full sized bathroom and terrace area. The kitchen was well equipped and there was ample storage space for all our belongings.
The first morning we opened our patio doors and were impressed by the condition and cleanliness of the grounds.
We took a wander to the Spar supermarket on site to grab some essentials. It’s a little over priced but aren’t they always. It had a good selection of products and a costa style cafe next door offering coffees and a selection of toasties and sausage rolls.
There was a pool less than a minutes walk from our apartment and we spent the first couple of days here, being out of season we practically had it to ourselves!
We visited 3 of the other pools during our stay and each was beautifully kept. We often saw maintenance and grounds keepers around during the day attending to the upkeep of the areas.
We ate in the restaurant on site one evening and one morning. Breakfast was the usual buffet choices, the sausages were better than most I’ve had in Portugal previously. For dinner there was a choice between buffet and a la carte. Our children had the buffet as the selection was ample for them and we had A la carte which was very nice.
The location of the resort is great, 10 minutes walk from the beach or a little town with a good selection of restaurants and a short cab ride into main Albufeira.
All in all a fantastic stay and we can’t wait to come back again next year ❤️

On arrival the receptionist was very friendly & advised our room wouldn’t be ready until 4pm so we had a snack by the pool. Now if you fancy a laugh & not intimidated by the I’ve really had enough of holiday makers, the waiter will take your order, even though he makes you feel as if you shouldn’t be ordering ha ha! The chips are quite nice and the coffee isn’t too bad either. We then took a 15 min walk to the local shops up the hill to the supermarket to stock up on essentials.
Upon entering our apartment, 2 bed superior, we were pleasantly surprised after reading some of the reviews. It seemed we had one of the refurbished ones. We did need to get maintenance to fix the front door because we couldn’t get out with the door lock jammed and the patio lock wouldn’t lock and later we found that one of the bedroom doors also wouldn’t lock but luckily the shutter doors locked from inside. The bedrooms smelt musty and there were a few ants but in general the apartment and facilities with smart tv (Netflix) washer, tumble dryer dishwasher was good. The only thing I would like to have seen provided would’ve been washing up liquid, dish washer tablets and maybe sugar. Things you don’t want to buy big bags of but do need. But on the whole we loved the layout of the apartment, the balcony, our own terrace. Ubers are definitely worth it only €5-7 to the old town and €4 to the strip. Restaurants in the new town are definitely worth looking at before looking at the old town which we found out, The Clay Oven Indian is amazing! But do try Tres Corona in the Old Town, this over looks the sea! This holiday place is a perfect base away from the hustle and bustle but close enough to get a taxi. We will definitely come back but will request where we would to be stay now that we have a map of the complex.

+1
We had a wonderful stay at Balaia Golf Resort. Everything exceeded our expectations. Very reasonably priced for what you get. We stayed in a superior 2 bedroom, 2 bath apartment and we were blown away by how good it was. It was very fresh, clean and had everything we needed. Washer, dryer, iron, parasol, outdoor seating and sun loungers. We had a dishwasher and plenty of kitchen equipment for cooking. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were clean with very good showers. One bedroom had a separate balcony and television.
Although the apartment was located towards the back of the resort in number 743 this didn’t bother us. We were a 2 minute walk to one pool and about 5-10 minutes walk to all other pools. We were approx 10 mins from reception but used the shuttle bus if needed to bring us to reception. The apartment itself was fantastic. We had air conditioning in both bedrooms and in the living area. We had a huge private outdoor area, 2 balconies, barbecue facilities and sun loungers all provided.
We are aware that some apartments only have air con in the bedroom but we were pleasantly surprised to have air con in all rooms.
We spent our days at different pools in the resort and we couldn’t fault any of them. Plenty of loungers always available, different depths in each pool and brilliant poolside bars and food. Not all pools has a bar/ food but that didn’t bother us. We particularly loved the Whale pool. Everything was spotlessly clean, our apartment was cleaned twice during our week stay. The location of the resort is fantastic, we used Uber and Bolt to bring us to new town and old town and both of these only cost a couple of euro per trip. Newtown was only a few minutes drive and old town was approx 10mins drive. We had excellent views of the driving range and it was a very quiet and peaceful area of the resort. We didn’t use the golf facilities during our stay. All staff were pleasant and the reception area is bright and welcoming. We will definitely be returning in the future. It’s a great area for all ages.

We are absolutely delighted with our experience at this stunning resort! From the moment we arrived, the staff welcomed us with genuine warmth, making us feel right at home. Their knowledge about the resort and the surrounding area was impressive, and they were always eager to assist, ensuring we had everything we needed for a perfect holiday.
The gardeners are amazing! The meticulously manicured lawns, swaying palm trees, and colorful flower beds created a picturesque backdrop that was straight out of a postcard. Every detail was carefully tended to, leaving nothing out of place, and offering an idyllic ambiance that was both relaxing and awe-inspiring.
One of the standout features was the fantastic family feel that permeated the entire property. Meeting friendly fellow guests and their smiles around every corner added an extra layer of joy to our holiday. The pools were a delight, offering a refreshing escape from the sun and providing endless fun for the kids.
Dining at the two on-site restaurants was a treat and, although we didn't get a chance to try out the golf facilities, we couldn't help but hear praises from other guests who had a blast on the course.
As for our accommodation, it was a true home away from home. The lovely apartment, boasting two bedrooms and two bathrooms, was thoughtfully designed and provided all the comforts we could wish for. The housekeeping service was top-notch, ensuring the space remained immaculate throughout our holiday.
Beyond all these wonderful experiences, we were particularly impressed by the exceptional value for money. The resort exceeded our expectations in every aspect, and we can confidently say that it offers an unmatched holiday experience for the price. Without a doubt, we'll be looking forward to returning to this resort for future holidays.

We stayed between the 21st and 28th December. Firstly The staff were all great and the housekeepers were brilliant, lovely clean room and fresh towels every 2 days and a spotless apartment. All positive but being there at that time of year there are the little things they don’t do as much as they would do say in the summer such as, they don’t run the heated outdoor pool, clean the main outdoor pools regularly, once in 7 days. The most disappointing thing was the so called health centre, the indoor pool was dirty and smelly but after a few complaints it was cleaned 3 days later and the gym laughable if I’m honest, the 2 treadmills were broken so not working and the others were old and rusty which considering you have to pay 60 euros a week for 2 people was terrible. I was told that the treadmills will be working by the next day but still not fixed after 5 days. Again it was not maned because of the time of year. You must wear a swimming cap which the hotel supply at a cost of two euros fifty. If the health centre was better I would give 5 stars but unfortunately it was a big let down. The food was excellent throughout our stay on a half board basis, plenty to choose from and the restaurant staff again were great.

Staff: everyone we had spoken too was very friendly. My friend and I went for her birthday and another friends’ wedding. The hotel staff had kindly organised some drink and chocolates (at an additional cost) for us in the room. As we were celebrating a birthday they also put some balloons up on the ceiling which my friend appreciated.
The room: we stayed in apartment 316. Very clean and spacious. Modern bathroom. Two balconies looking onto the kids pool. The only problem we had was most days coming into the room it would smell of sewage.
The grounds: very well kept and clean. Multiple pools to choose from which was great. Would be amazing if one of them was a ‘quiet’ or adults only pool
Food: Went to the main restaurant late in the day of arrival and I had asked for a Cesar salad (which was on the menu) with some grilled chicken mixed with it . I’m not sure if it was a language barrier with the waitress but what turned up was a standard house salad (cucumber, lettuce, tomato) with a piece of bland grilled chicken on a separate plate which I ended up paying £15 for!! We went for a buffet breakfast which had a good selection of hot and cold foods. We also had food from the pool bar which was tasty.
Location: Short uber journey to the strip and the old town and a short walk to a lovely beach. A bit of a walk to get to the nearest restaurant but I would recommend getting an Uber to the old town which has plenty of choice.
Overall I would recommend this hotel and I would stay again :)

Just at the end of our first week staying at Balais golf village. communal areas, pools , tennis courts and the 9 hole golf course all immaculate could not fault any of them.
Room although in need of minor update still a nice place to stay in. Only down side is we have a wonderful balcony overlooking the tennis courts and one of the six great pool areas that does not get any sun all day spoiling what is a much needed two week holiday.
Will definitely be booking to come back again early in the new year but this time requesting balcony that does get the sun.
Also food at the Varanda and golf club both have good menus and reasonably priced.
Enjoying our break in a lovely place thank you.

We really enjoyed our stay arrived in the 19th October for week the apartment was kept and everything you needed we had , cooking wise , dishwasher , washing machine tumble dryer !
We had a 2 bedroom superior with garden and pop view.
The staff were friendly a reception
Cleaners didn’t come in I think all wee but we clean and tidy anyway so didn’t need it but would have been nice to have been given fresh towels and toilet roll without having to ask .
The gardens were very well kept beautiful !
Pool were quite cold although didn’t seem to bother my kids even in the rain !!
The I door pool and spa quite small I though the lady was rude and for some reason you had to where swim hats even my 2 year old didn’t go down well !
We didn’t go in the restaurant as we preferred to cook our own . We went to aldi when arrive cost 4 euro in a taxi
Walk to the new town about 15 minutes beach about 10 minutes .
Old town we got a taxi 8 euros for 7 of us which I thought was cheap !
We went Into viloramoura 20 minutes in a taxi and was well worth the visit was beautiful !!
All in all I can’t actually wait to rebook for next year ! One of my favourite places in Europe !

The resort is in a good location, and staff at the reception are friendly and welcoming. The apartment itself was full of ants and bugs, and needed a lot of updating. The mattresses were rock hard, and the rooms were freezing without the a/c on.
You have to pay to use the indoor swimming pool, which costs €8 per person, and then due to covid you are made to buy a swimming cap at €2.50. The caps were extremely tight and caused a headache. The pool was freezing, and the jacuzzi was not much warmer, as it is connected to the pool. The lady at the reception area of the swimming pool was extremely rude and not at all friendly.
The transfer from the hotel cost €80 there and back, but you are able to get an Uber for around €25 per trip.
Although the hotel was not expensive, I would not choose to stay here again.

Hi, you can use the restaurants and bars, but unfortunately not the pools. thank you
There’s an indoor pool
Unsure about entertainment
Pizzeria Aroma di Mare :They make pizza but also have all you can eat fish that is good and varies depending on the day. We thought they were quite good and a reasonable cost.
Suggest you contact Faro Easy Transfers (Richard) €38 one way or try Uber from Airport (this will be cheaper than booking ordinary taxi but you will need to register 1st with card).
