Hotel staff are efficient, polite and keen to help. We had some fun conversations with a few friendly staff, mostly around the palm bar near the pool.
The room was a good size and comfortable. The bed was on the firmer side, for me, which was only a problem since we were getting some long restful nights sleeping in more than we usually do, so the back was a little sore after I probably spent too long in there. Otherwise it was very restful and quiet.
The room we had over looked the car park, however the views of the area from the balcony were pretty good. Sitting on the balcony with a beer while watching the sunset was a real treat in the evenings as the weather was perfect (August).
The room had a rain water shower with good water pressure (no bath), fair sized LCD TV, room safe, and enough space for a couple of suitcases.
Room was kept very clean, throughout our stay, and was probably one of the best housekeeping services we’ve experienced. There were no issues (except they thought we were German?).
Due to the current global situation, the Hotel was restricted with what facilities it had open, but it has an indoor pool, sauna which we couldn’t use at the time. However the pool outside was perfect with plenty of shade and space to relax with garden surroundings that were well maintained, and you could also stretch out to.
My wife and I arranged a massage which they did outside and this was a further major contributor to our relaxation! Recommend you get one too.
Given the current global situation and tourist numbers being down, we got a great deal which is on top of the usual great value you can get in Portugal.
We left feeling refreshed and renewed which was much needed after the year 2020! We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to hopefully returning soon.
It is a very peaceful place with lovely staff, a short walk or ride from the nearest Beach with a few shops and restaurants nearby. We absolutely recommend not wasting money eating out, the food and choices at the Hotel cover every single diet and palate. The drinks and lunches are reasonably priced for what you receive and there is a cigarette machine and gift shop on site.
Every member of the team makes you feel welcome and cannot do enough for you.
I have a restricted vegan diet - and all of the chefs and dining room staff were so helpful. I had the most amazing meals - and never the same one twice. My husband also enjoyed the food, which he described as "stunning"
The rooms are spacious, modern and spotlessly clean.
We were so happy to find a kettle and tea/coffee in the room (replenished daily).
The reception area is designed in traditional.Portugese tile, typical of the area. There was entertainment each night in the Palm bar.
There is a lot of room around the swimming pool. No need for anyone to reserve sunbeds at 5am. The stunning gardens are tropical and extensive - with alot of sunbeds there too. Look out for the fish.
As for Covid safety, the systems in place made us feel so safe. All staff wear masks, the whole pool area is disinfected every night and throughout the day. There are one way systems in place in the restaurant. If you go to the salad bar, you sanitise and wear gloves. Hot food and desserts are served to you. Drinks are still brought to your table. Tables are disinfected as people leave and your table is only made up as required to ensure safety. It's a very safe system and works like clockwork.
But, most importantly, the Falesia team make you feel like part of a family. It has a special vibe and most people we spoke to had been many times before. They even said as we left "see you next year".
We never usually return to the same place twice, however, we will definitely be returning next year (pandemic permitting).
The breakfast was out of this world, so much choice. Dining room staff could not do enough to ensure our holiday was a memorable one. We ate in the dining room for three nights, there was plenty of choice but we enjoyed taking in the local sights and restaurants and also ventured into Vilamoura for a fabulous Thai meal. Reasonably priced taxi to and return.
The swimming pool was spotless, every evening you could see the hoover hovering round the pool. Gardens looked like they had been manicured. The gardeners work so very hard, take great pride in their work, stunning.
We were served the most amazing cocktails at the Palm Bar with again excellent service from the staff and always a joke.
We can see why people return to this adults only hotel year on year. If your looking for a relaxing break in stunning surroundings, this is the place.
We will certainly return again.
One small criticism, when we were here before it was a Thompson Gold hotel with a fantastic entertainments team. This time, it’s a platinum hotel, no entertainment team, simply solo singers or duets, not terribly inspiring and not very well supported.
The Palm bar closed at 8.00pm as guests were not using it. If perhaps they had kept it open and arranged fir the DJ to attract the guests, we think it would have created for a better atmosphere for the guests. Saturday afternoon he played for two hours, everyone was enjoying the music and there were queues at the bar.
It may just have been due to COVID, which incidentally was being managed very well, but possibly something to think about in the future.
Thank you to everyone at the Falesia Hotel for making our holiday a memorable one, as I said we will return.
The tables were well spread out and there was a one way system for getting food - drinks were ordered at your table as usual. You had to put on hand sanitiser and wear gloves before you could touch anything. Anyone seen not complying with this (there were lots of staff watching) was shown the error of their ways and the item that had been touched (eg, tongs to pick food up with, fresh orange juice bottle) was removed immediately. Hot food was served for you, whilst you selected what you wanted. All worked perfectly.
It was lovely to see all of our friends who work tirelessly at the hotel to make your stay so perfect. So thank you once again to Carlos and his team. You make our holiday so "simply relaxing." Difficult circumstances this year but we enjoyed ourselves as much as ever. You all deserve a mention but special thanks to (and sorry about incorrect spellings or anyone I've missed!) Amelia, our maid, and then in the dining room, Joachim, Phillippe, Carlos, Edsandra (you are so lovely but quite mad!), Joselio, Paula, Celine and Joselia (I am sorry I was not better at remembering my room number in Brazilian for you!!), and reception, Celia, Eduardo, Sofia, Gonçalo and the the lady who used to be in the water polo team but I have forgotten your name - so very sorry!)
The beds are huge and so comfy. I wish I could bring it home with me! Rooms are air conditioned and you can choose your temperature and fan speed.
Sunloungers were more spread out but there is so much room in the large gardens as well as the pool area with everywhere so quiet. It was noticeable that due to Tui cancelling their normal take up of rooms this year, there were a lot of younger Portuguese here rather than British. One very noticeable fact was there were plenty of sunloungers free and the annoying problem of people reserving theirs at some ridiculous time in the morning and then disappearing was gone. So it must be a British problem! Loungers appear to be cleaned regularly and the hotel was kept spotlessly clean as usual.
We look forward to returning next year when hopefully we will be able to see everyone's smiles rather than them being hidden behind masks but please stay safe and thank you so much once again. You make this hotel so very special.
The pool and surrounding gardens was really beautiful and well kept with a little river stocked with Koi Carp.
There is a brilliant Indian restaurant just down the steps near the hotel and lots of other little bars and restaurants close by (try the one on the right down the steps for lunch or a drink). You can walk to the beach, about 30mins or there is a free shuttle bus. The 6 euro shuttle bus to Albufeira is well worth it for a day out as the hotel is nowhere near Albufeira!
The biggest disappointment for us was the loud music at night. Our room was directly above the bar area where they have live music every night from 9pm to 11.30pm. Maybe request to stay the other end of the hotel. We unfortunately couldn’t be moved due to capacity and the only room they could change us to wasn’t the same as the one we had and we wanted a similar room type.
Pet hates about the hotel. We had a large gap under our hotel room door meaning the light from the hall shines through, we rolled up a towel every night and put it along the bottom of the door as it was so bright. The wardrobe has a censored light inside which would go on and off on its own. The shower would run hot and cold and wouldn’t stay a consistent temperature.
Plus points. The food was nice most nights. The gardens and pool area are lovely, we loved the fact we could go and place some sun loungers in the garden and there would be no one around us. Perfect during Covid. Their protocol was really great, everyone was always wearing a mask inside, lots of hand sanitiser around and people always cleaning. There is a super market just over the road. Only a 20 minute walk to the beach, from here you can walk all the way to Villamoura which is lovely but it’s a long walk. There is a free shuttle to the beach but we didn’t use it and the hotel is not too far from Albufeira centre in a taxi, again they do a shuttle at a charge but we didn’t use it.
Overall a great stay!
The lovely restaurant never felt too busy and the food was amongst the best I’ve had in a hotel. It was varied and good quality at all times; plenty to choose from. In the mornings they had pots available for making tea so you didn’t have to keep filling up your cups. The only thing I missed for breakfast was more choice of cereal – they only had cornflakes in a few varieties (chocolate flavour, gluten free). Some muesli or granola would have been great. But there were so many other nice things available it wasn’t really an issue.
We didn’t use the outdoor pool but the area was pleasant and peaceful with plenty of sun loungers. You could also sit on sun loungers in the garden areas. The indoor pool and jacuzzi was lovely and it was never too busy even when the weather wasn’t the nicest. As others have mentioned it’s a shame there isn’t a gym as the hotel seems large enough to accommodate one but not a big deal.
There is a nice living room by the bar with a tv that showed English football for those that don’t want to miss out. There is a small shelf at the back of this room with books that you can swap, very useful. The wifi was reliable throughout the hotel but works best in the rooms.
Our only issue with staying in this hotel was that the guests in the room to our left kept coming back to their room at midnight to continue partying instead of going to a late night bar. Reception were brilliant with trying to ask them to keep the noise down but unfortunately they took no notice after the first night. I understand wanting to stay up late and talk but if it’s accompanied by playing loud music, singing, walking with high heels on the wooden floor the noise disruption does add up. Luckily they didn’t stay up too late every night but it was a bit disappointing they chose this quiet and peaceful hotel that clearly was not a party hotel. I would still very much recommend this hotel and would happily stay again - hopefully with quieter guests next door next time.
The staff were so polite and helpful, as well as friendly.
The grounds of the hotel are pretty and we enjoyed lying out in the gardens very much.
I have to say, the choice and quality of all the food provided was outstanding!
We could walk to the beach in around 15 minutes, courtesy of the resort next door having a lift that took you down the cliffs most of the way, just leaving a veey short walk on the boarded steps. Plenty of space on the beach which made social distancing easy.
We also enjoyed the use of the tennis courts.
This was our first trip to Portugal and what a great experience! I would definitely recommend this hotel.
