The W Algarve is often celebrated for its immaculate cleanliness and chic, welcoming atmosphere, with many guests lauding the stylish and spacious accommodations. Its amenities, including a luxurious pool and well-equipped rooms, along with a diverse breakfast buffet, frequently receive praise.
Some guests, however, have mixed feelings about the hotel's value, pointing out the high costs versus the quality of certain amenities and events. While the service is generally regarded as attentive and friendly, a handful of travelers have noted room for improvement in both housekeeping and accessibility.

Detailed Reviews
I had wanted to stay at the W, Algarve since I found out it was opening and it didn’t disappoint. This is a relatively new hotel and everything is in top condition!
Let me start with the rooms, they were amazing. Huge inside! Equipped with fabulous decor, a double sink, big beds, robes, slippers, toiletries, large terrace area over looking the pool, hair dryer, massive screen TV, sofa area and so much more. They added so many nice extra touches like sensors in the lights that turn on when you walk past and curtains that open at the touch of a button. We’ve stayed in hotels all over the world and this room rivalled the quality of those in Dubai.
The food and drink in the hotel was also very high quality. We ate at the pool bar and Market Kitchen whilst we were there and both were lovely. Id like to add that I am gluten free and there were plenty of options to choose from. The food and drink was also reasonably priced which was refreshing as a lot of 5 star hotels over charge and I felt the pricing here was fair. We had breakfast in with the room rate and it was fantastic, it was buffet style and they even made me fresh gluten free pancakes.
After dinner there was live music at the bar and seats outside where you could take in the stars and watch the colourful fountains.
The pool area was really nice. There was a DJ playing from midday which was a cool extra and it added atmosphere. The pool got the sun all day and there were plenty of loungers. There were also fresh towels provided when ever you needed them.
My ONLY criticism of the whole stay was that on the day we arrived there were some older kids running havoc in the pool. They were splashing people, hitting each other with inflatables, screaming and jumping between the two levels. Whilst I appreciate this is a hotel that accommodates kids, it is also a 5 star hotel and this does not reflect that atmosphere. Although there were staff stood around watching at the time, it wasn’t until multiple people complained / moved sun loungers that someone spoke to them and told them to stop. I think if this happens again in the future the staff should kindly ask the kids to tone it down before people get to the point of complaining. A more long term suggestion for the hotel would be an adults only pool or sunbathing area as I think this may be the only thing the hotel is missing.
That being said I wouldn’t want that one unfortunate incident to affect my over all rating of the hotel because we did have an excellent experience and will be back to stay next year.

We have been to the Algarve on many an occasion and stayed at some fantastic hotels; the W is right up there with them.
We were greeted with upbeat energy, fantastic smiles and a welcome drink which instantly eased the exhaustion of travelling. On arrival it was hard not to note that the W boasts cleanliness with everything being well aligned, pristine and in an orderly fashion, this was to be true during our entire stay.
We stayed at the Wonderful 2 bedroom Residence which was modern in terms of being paperless, having the latest mod cons and classic Villeroy & Boch bathroom features etc. It was spacious enough to accommodate a family of 5; we were always pleased to return to our ‘home away from home’ after trips out.
We opted for half board which meant we sampled delicious cuisine at Market Kitchen and Paper Moon. The food was fresh, a feast for the eyes and as rich in flavour as it was in appearance. The desserts were very much devoured by us all with tiramisu at Paper Moon being a firm favourite of mine.
The variety of breakfast at The W was incredibly inviting, from fresh fruit, hot breakfast, continental to pancakes and pastries (especially the Pasteis de Natas) meant that we all left feeling content and ready to embrace the day.
Alongside the hotel transfers to Castello Beach (highly recommended) we enjoyed walks down to the two private beaches that can be accessed via the hotel, Evaristo is easy to navigate to, Balbino is a little trickier to find as the pathway is still somewhat under construction. The staff however gave clear guidance on how to get there successfully.
Finally the strength of The W lies in its young staff who are dynamic whilst full of vigour and enthusiasm. The whatever whenever concept sits true to its name, from the restaurant staff to room service and everything in between, nothing was too much trouble. Special mentions to Nadia who greeted us wholeheartedly on arrival, Avaraaj who helped the children around the pool to ensure comfort or Lily who organised an excursion to see the Benagil caves.
A special warm thank you to Cajetan Araujo who seemingly made time frequently to greet and converse with guests as well as offer some pearls of wisdom regarding the local area. Cajetan’s passion will be the driving force behind the success of this hotel, that I don’t doubt.
Many thanks
The Hansra Family.

Hello Hansra Family, First and foremost thank you for taking the time to write such a positive and detailed review about your stay with us! We are static to know that we are on your top fantastic hotels list! Our energy always allied with a smile is really one of our main characteristics and it only means that is always an absolute pleasure to welcome you into our brand new “home”. From a food and beverage perspective it seems that you had the opportunity to immerse yourselves into all the delicacies and freshness we have to offer throughout all our venues (and i am with you on the tiramisu addiction ) We see that you also went to the 3 closest beaches we have and took full advantage of them as well, as we all should! It is with great pleasure that we see the acknowledgement of all the heart and soul our staff put in every interaction we have with our dear guests. It is our moto and in our core values, to be able to provide memorable stays to our guests and that they feel they are “home”! A huge Thank you from all the team! Needless to say, that our Captain Cajetan Araujo is the primary source of that passion we all share in being the best professionals and human being we can possibly be for each other and especially for our beloved guests! We truly hope to see your family again soon and, until then, wish you all a wonderful life!

Firstly the staff at the hotel are excellent. They are highly trained, very efficient and helpful. They all smile and seem to speak multiple languages. We found them knowledgeable as well. Our waiter one day was the lovely Christiano and he used to be a sommelier so when our wine wasn’t available he was able to suggest an alternative that was delicious. Secondly it is worth paying for a spectacular room with sea views. These rooms are beautiful and cool with super comfortable beds and great decor. The housekeeping staff are very good and ours left us notes and thanked us for the tips we left them. Thirdly the pool area is relaxed and comfortable with plenty of beds and a cool vibe. The pools are warm and never too busy. Fourthly the managers are walking about asking for feedback which is a good sign. So why the 4 stars? Sesmarias, where the hotel is based is residential and very quiet for the last week in August. We walked around looking for bars and restaurants and apart from one of two the choice is poor. We ended up taking an Uber into Albufeira for dinner where the choice is plentiful. Only €8 each way and clean and efficient. The quiet area wouldn’t have been an issue if the choice of food at the hotel was better. Paper Moon (the Italian) is a very average Italian restaurant. Again great staff but the food was disappointing. The Wet deck at the pool for lunch was either sushi or poke bowls or a burger or tacos with a miserly portion of chicken. The Market Place for lunch was good enough but we were the only couple in it so it lacked atmosphere. A better variety of food would make this hotel 5/5. Interestingly the room service menu looked great but we prefer to have lunch and dinner out when on holiday so we didn’t order from it. It would also come quite a distance to our room so every chance it would be cold. I think the hotel will evolve and when it opens more restaurants then we would certainly return as it is beautiful and the staff are exemplary. Shout out to the friendly Joal in the main bar who made us so welcome and the cocktails at the hotel are different and brilliant.

Dear Shelleyb15, First of all, thank you for taking the time to share the feedback of your stay with us. We always endeavor to deliver the best service and experience possible to our guests and it is heartwarming to receive your acknowledgement of the hard work and heart our talent shows on a daily basis, which I will share with the team. Another one of our focal points was indeed the design and décor of the hotel throughout. We are glad that you were also able to enjoy our pools and get that extra relaxation time. The area itself were we are located is calmer but, as you also mention, we are a quick drive by car to busier villages like Albufeira. Regarding your experience in some of our venues, it is unfortunate that we didn’t meet your expectations. As a new hotel, it’s always important for us to continually improve and understand feedback from our guests and adjust accordingly while they are on property, thereby allowing us a unique opportunity to make it up to them should there have been lack of satisfaction, and it saddens us to know that we were not able to do so upon your stay with us. That being said, we would love the opportunity to welcome you again and turn around this past experience into a memorable one. Until then, wish you a wonderful life!

We stayed for 5 days as two couples recently and really enjoyed the experience. It is definitely a resort hotel with enough to do on site for a few days. Great staff, great food and drink, especially the Italian influenced restaurant, and breakfast. Ultra modern style with great rooms mostly fitted with showers instead of baths. The music was young and loud , not to my taste but probably designed for the wealthy young clientele. Small beach with beach bar 5 minutes walk down manicured paths, there is a larger beach starting about 1km from the hotel. Very relaxing stay overall and everything was of great quality.

We had a lovely stay at the W Algarve. The staff were great and really made the hotel feel special. I would like to give a shout out to the staff who provided excellent customer service and went above and beyond for my family and I: Fathima H (restaurant), Henrique (reception), Tindra (reception), Fatima (reception), Frost (attendant/bellman), Anna (pool), Emily (pool).
We stayed in the Wonderful King Room which had a great view of the pool. As there were 3 of us which consisted of myself, my Mom and elderly grandmother, we had requested an additional bed. The décor was lovely, and the room was spacious. The hotel décor overall is stunning, and Henrique explained the meaning behind the pieces and how it links to Portugal.
We booked on a half board basis (breakfast and dinner). Breakfast was nice with a variety of hot and cold choices. We did purchase lunch a few times on our pool days which was nice but a little overpriced, but we paid for the convenience of eating poolside. Guests are required to make reservations for the evening meals which was slightly restrictive at times but understandable as the menu is a la carte. We didn’t enjoy the food at Paper Moon, however the food at the Market Kitchen was good with large portions.
The entertainment is very limited – no specific daytime entertainment other than a DJ playing music on Wednesdays and some background music on the other days. They also have a live singer perform 2 nights a week. It would have been nice to have had more entertainment, but this didn’t bother us that much. There are nearby bars and clubs if you are seeking nighttime entertainment. We always managed to find a pool lounger albeit further back on the grass however it was trickier to find one in the afternoon. The staff were always willing to find you a spot and take up towels off the loungers that had been unoccupied for a long period of time.
We booked a private transfer which took around 40 minutes from the airport. The hotel isn’t that far from the Old Town (around 15-20mins in a taxi), and close to some lovely restaurants.
When we booked our stay, I emailed the hotel to ask if they had a wheelchair we could use, to which they said no but sent me the name of a company we could rent from. Around 2 weeks prior to arriving I asked the hotel if they were able to pay the wheelchair company when they delivered the chair and charge this to our room. After a few times of chasing, I was told the day before arrival that they couldn’t do this and that they had a wheelchair that we could use during our stay. This was annoying as I had originally been told that they didn’t have a wheelchair and so had rented another one unnecessarily. However, their wheelchair was comfier than the one we hired so we did end up using theirs. P.S for any wheelchair users staying at this hotel, just be mindful that the roads are quite cobbly.
Overall, we had a lovely stay and would stay here again if we visit Albufeira.

This hotel was truly flawless on our recent stay.I can't say enough about the beautiful design and attention to detail everywhere. We had a fantastic king room overlooking poll area with a large balcony equipped with a small sofa, table and chairs and brilliantly a drying rack for your swimwear. The bed was so comfortable w/ lighting and curtain controls next to the bed. There was also a sofa, table and a large wicker chair. The bathroom area had double sinks, a dressing table, makeup mirror, large shower w/ a handheld and a rain head. There was a separate doored toilet area w/ bidet. There was a separate very large storage and dressing area that had automatic lights as you walked in. This room was perfect!
The pool was two levels with a restaurant at the top that served great food and drinks. Pool attendants were so kind and helpful.
We ate at both Paper Moon and the Vino and both were exceptional in every way. Beautiful spaces with delicious food, views and incredible service.
Incredible service is what truly set this property apart. EVERY single person we encountered from the valets, front desk, concierge, wait staff, room attendants, bartenders. Every person was so friendly and so helpful.
They could not have been kinder. Style. Service. Substance. This was a five star experience and we couldn't have been happier.

First of all, the location was chosen perfectly and it stays quite far from touristic places, which gives you an opportunity to have a non crowded beaches and calm vacation. Although if you want to have some fun time, the team is there for you and the music is following you everywhere on the territory.
We had really pleasant dinner on the rooftop restaurant which also has a lounge area with a DJ and great choice of music, which can be suitable for all type of guests and all the ages.
The stuff is still learning of course, but they are really trying hard and ready to fulfil all the requests as fast as possible.
Very friendly and young place to be, would be glad to come back.

Came here as part of a Jet 2 Indulgent Escapes package.
The whole place was completed only a few months ago, so everything was pretty spotless / new.
Although check-in took a bit of time, the remainder of the stay was great.
The 2 bed apartment was very spacious and wonderful. Both bedrooms had their own private bathrooms (very large). All toiletries were provided, as were washing machine and dishwasher tablets. There was complimentary bottled water in the apartment upon arrival and tea / coffee.
Full kitchenware and cooking utensils were provided. All the kitchen appliances were Smeg.
Curtains and nets were operated electronically, as were all the lighting.
Lovely table and chairs for outdoor sitting. Garden was long and private
Breakfast was amazing, with a vast choice of hot and cold options.
Staff at breakfast were super friendly and helpful.
The dining was a little expensive, but then it is a 5-star establishment.
There is a small (rocky) beach area that is about a 10 minute walk from the Hotel.
There are 2 large swimming pools
The gym was fully equiped with a large outdoor area where we saw an amazing sunset.
Had such a comfortable stay here.
Would highly recommend.

We visited mid January 2023. This is low season for the Algarve, so only one of the restaurants on-site was open, PaperMoon. Breakfast buffet and ala carte were excellent. We also had one dinner that was also quite good.
The staff went out of there way to be very hospitable. We had an early 7am departure on our last day and they prepared a to go bag of breakfast items for us.
The pool is outdoors and not heated, so it was too cold to swim.
There is a well lit paved pathway to a small beach, about a 5-10 minute walk. Great place for sunset photos, playing in the sand and relaxing.

Dear WadeHongKong, Thank you for sharing some feedback of your stay with us. It is always amazing to "hear" such endearing words of appreciation about our hardworking team. Our outdoors pools are heated up to 28º, however considering the cold that we may experience throughout the winter time it doesn't feel enough to compensate. Our proximity to the beaches (Evaristo, Balbina & Castelo) is without a doubt a plus if you are looking for some well deserved relaxation and fun (as well as some perfect photos, as you mentioned). We hope you visit us again soon.

We stayed at the hotel for 5 days and 4 nights across New Year 2022-2023. We had a “fabulous” category room and it was indeed fabulous! The room was spotless, beautifully decorated and had a fantastic selection of amenities. The room also had a very secluded and beautiful enclosed garden area which was thought was such a nice touch. The cleaning staff were great, particularly one young man who I phoned reception to compliment.
We used the spa once during our stay. The facilities are great and we really enjoyed using the spa. It does get a little chilly at times as it is open air but we just jumped in the hot tub too warm up!
The W lounge is the main area for drinks and snacks. The decor is beautiful and the bartenders were really helpful.
We are in paper moon once and the food was delicious.
The breakfast buffet is very high quality. The food was plentiful and there was definitely something for everyone. There is one particular member of staff who serves in the buffet restaurant who was so kind and thoughtful. She had the most wonderful energy, so much so I even told the general manager.
We had room service dinner three times, and the food was amazing and great value.
The secluded beach is really cute and we spent quite a bit of time relaxing down there.
We really enjoyed our stay at the W Algarve so much so I have booked a girls long weekend with my adult daughter in a few months. Thank you W Algarve for making our trip very special and I look forward to seeing you again soon.

Small shop right next door with the basics. Main bars and restaurants only 15 minute Uber which are super cheap and very available. Some small restaurants and bars very close by.
Thanks
Not complimentary. However, if you stay at the W Residences instead of the W Hotel there, there is a washer/dryer in the flat.
