At Grand Muthu Forte Do Vale, guests have called out the clean and spacious rooms, though many suggest they could benefit from modernization. The hotel's location earns praise for its proximity to local attractions, and the cleanliness is consistently highlighted. While the variety of amenities, including pools and dining options, are appreciated, some travelers find the all-inclusive experience lacking.
The friendly staff often receives accolades, yet there have been instances of service inconsistency. Critics argue that the value falls short of the hotel's 5-star claim, particularly due to additional charges and the need for an atmosphere refresh.

Detailed Reviews
This hotel is in a very good location close to the strip, old town, restaurants and shops. Very large apartment with a small terrace. Well-equipped kitchen including washing machine, microwave, dishwasher and large fridge freezer. In the bathroom are available toothbrushes, soap, shower gel and shampoo. If you want to have a tidy room, you must issue a card on your door. Indoor pool is small but has good water temperature (for the pool only the swimming hat is required). Jacuzzi and sauna are a bonus and is free of charge for the hotel guests. The Uzoj restaurant located next to the hotel has excellent home-made food at very good prices.

Dear Guest, Thank you so much for your feedback on Trip Advisor. We are happy to know that you enjoyed your stay with us. We thank you for your positive comments about the rooms and the facilities offered at the hotel. With one of the best location in the town, indoor & outdoor pools, near the strip and close the beach it really becomes a great value proposition for our guests. We hope we have an opportunity to serve you again soon. Warm regards, Pankaj Sachdev

After a few hiccups (with our travel agent not this hotel) we enjoyed the remaining 8 days of our holiday here and absolutely loved every minute of it. The location is perfect for those wanting to be closer to the Old Town (one stop on tram or a 15 minute walk which can be along the beach or road). The strip is only about 5 minutes further so just as easy. The staff here were absolutely tremendous and really couldn’t do enough for us all. They knew the issues we had with travel agent prior and really went out of their way to make us enjoy our holiday. They were so personal towards us and really made us feel super welcome here. We stayed on a bed and breakfast basis because due to the pandemic the hotel couldn’t really accommodate all inclusive well so advised us at the time bed and breakfast would be more suitable. We were very happy with this and the breakfast had plenty of choice and good food ranging from hot buffet selection, continental, yoghurts, loads of fruit and further fruit for you to take away if you wanted (only criticism that there were no hash brown or fried egg which hubby and daughter loves, and fresh orange had a funky taste, although I am certain if we had asked at the time they would’ve sorted that too!) You could have your dinner at the restaurant but we never did as mainly went out and about, we did have 2 takeaway dinners (on the days we visited the water park and wanted to come back and crash) and they were lovely, just pizzas and toasties etc… but very nice all the same. We had booked a one bedroom apartment and the hotel upgraded us to a junior suite to give us the pool view that we were hoping for and the apartment was stunning. Lots of personal touches to make it feel like home. (We did view the one bed apartments though and I can honestly say they were also gorgeous - no bigger just less frills but just as lovely). Lovely to have coffee machine and washing machine too! Thank you so much for the upgrade! The cleaning service was superb as well, they came in everyday and did a lovely job placing our little girls teddy’s and dolls in her bed for her and making her feel special. We usually always book directly with hotels but due to pandemic wanted the insurance safety so booked through a travel agent. (I won’t mention who) this was the only thing that went wrong on the holiday as they put us in the wrong hotel initially when we should’ve been staying here. However once we arrived here we had the most wonderful holiday, in a beautiful hotel with a brilliant location and super welcoming, friendly staff. We really couldn’t have asked for more, so thank you to everyone at this hotel from Carlos who we first met and gave us the time to show us around to everyone else who made our stay here brilliant, sorry I didn’t get all of your names but you have been amazing! My only complaint is that we had to leave and come home, but we will most certainly be back as soon as we can. X

We have just returned from a weeks stay here, this is our fourth time but hadn’t visited in seven years. The hotel has got even better. It is in a fabulous location between the old and new town so not noisy, perfect for families and couples alike. Short walk either way to the towns and the tourist train stops outside if you don’t fancy a walk. Taxis from the old town are €5. We had an apartment at the back that got the sun in the morning. They are very big, one bedroom with a safe, large lounge with sofa bed, kitchen with washing machine and dishwasher and a bathroom with a bath. Lots of storage space and a big balcony. The staff on reception are very courteous, polite and helpful, special mention to Carlos who was so patient with my requests. The pool is adequate size, I didn’t go in but the rest of my family did, but cold for this time of year, I can imagine it would get very busy in the summer. Pool towels can be hired with a returnable deposit. There is a good games arcade for the children and a decent bar. We didn’t try the food but the restaurant was always full so that’s a good sign. Small supermarket yards away, very handy. Must mention the hotel is spotless. Rooms cleaned every day, the maids work so hard. We will definitely stay again.

Best hotel I’ve been to! Great facilities, 3 pools outside and an indoor pool with a Turkish bath and sauna. Pool is lovely but as it’s Easter it’s a little cold so the indoor pool is very handy! The staff were lovely, the man who checked us in was so nice and helpful. The room had everything you could need, even a washing machine, coffee machine and dishwasher. The room was massive, we had a huge bedroom, a living room, a kitchen, bathroom and 2 balconies ! There’s also a pool bar and gym, location was 10/15 min walk from old town square/beach & Aldi and approx 5-10 min walk to new town. Highly recommend and I’ll be booking again !

We arrived at about 12.30pm we were told our room was ready and after a quick check in went to our deluxe apartment. We got what we requested a top floor room with pool view.
On first inspection everything looked fine, some new furniture and fittings, good sized lounge, bedroom, bathroom and balcony, 2 tv's, free safety box and air conditioning. However, although the kitchen had everything you need the washing machine had rust on it, the bathroom had dirty grout, holes and chips in tiles, stained plug hole in bath and rust stains at bottom of shower screen. The balcony had 2 cheap plastic chairs and the table was probably from when it opened.
The lady that "cleaned" our apartment was nice but only did a basic clean, fresh towels every day although these were a bit rough and hard, beds made and bathroom cleaned and bins emptied. No tables or units were cleaned for 2 weeks and the balcony not cleaned at all either. The balcony screen not cleaned for weeks.
The pool area is quite spacious and there were always plenty of sunloungers available even at mid afternoon and it was well cleaned every day, they operate a no reservation of sunloungers which all hotels should do. There is a pool bar and a bbq and music playing in the background.
We were self catering so cannot comment on food and we did not use the bar either because it was usually quite quiet everytime we passed it.
The hotel has a cake shop, health club and gym and overall the hotel looks clean and well maintained.
The hotel is in a good location although you do hear quite a lot of traffic noise even through the night as it is next to a busy road, and unfortunately you can hear 4 dogs barking at all hours from a villa across the road (Not the hotels fault).
Reception staff were friendly and polite other staff never spoke.
We have stayed here many times both before and with the new owners and it is time the kitchen and bathroom are updated as these are from when it was first opened.
My review may seem to be quite negative but if the hotel updates and clean the rooms better then yes it would be 5 star.
We would definitely stay again, more for the location, because it's within easy reach of the beach, old town and strip, bars and a few shops.
To recap, spend some money on updating MGM and it will be a 5 star hotel like you claim it is.

This is my second time staying in Forte do Vale, last time 2016 with my family. I wanted to come back due to great location, nice pool and nice rooms.
We arrived at the hotel early and had to wait about 4 hours for our room to be ready, although this was our fault getting here early, its always uncomfortable having to wait around.
The apartment is spacious, great equipment, seating and nice aircon in both areas. There were some minor issues around cleanliness, but due to them being minor we did not alert reception.
Overall, the apartment was a really nice space to have as a base, with comfortable bed, well equipped kitchen with pans, fridge, freezer, cutlery, dishwasher and washing machine. The location to the old town and main strip of restaurants is really good, one of the reasons why I chose to book again.
The pool area on the first day was filled with so many beds taken up, but after that there was always space all day.. which was really nice! Pool area was really clean.
We didn't use the restaurant or bar so cant comment on that.
The staff were so friendly and helped with anything we asked. We only booked 6 nights and decided to stay an extra 2 nights instead of travel away. The hotel staff were so helpful with this and let us stay in the apartment although we booked for a room price, the process was so easy and really nice of them to let us remain.
Overall, we would have no worries about staying again, although possibly try some new hotels/apartments and different locations in albufeira. I gave 4 stars only due to believing that it is a little on the expensive side, but not 100% perfect.
If youre looking for a room/apartment with comfy beds, fully equipped kitchen, pool, all within a 10-15 minute walk to anything then this is great!

Booked direct with MGM Hotels central reservation office. On arrival, a very splendid reception area and a helpful receptionist greeted us and asked full payment IN ADVANCE before we were allowed to check in. Five star ? He also wanted a €100 damage deposit for the room. Five star ? He explained that all services had to be paid for and NOTHING could be charged to the room. Five star ? We had asked for the best room available when booking and paid accordingly. A Deluxe Junior Suite, the latest rooms to be refurbished . The room was huge, massively furnished and ...tatty. See the photographs of the bathroom - a disgrace ! Five star? We immediately complained and the charming general manager, Mr Cabrita, began his task of desperately polishing the turd that is this hotel. He offered to switch rooms and could we be patient. We could and we soon found out why. He had pressed his handyman into regrouting the bathroom in an adjacent room! Yes - really. When we moved in, the grout was still wet and it was NEVER cleaned during the remainder of our stay, He offered us lunch and evening meal as compensation. We had already paid for buffet breakfast, which was very good. Fine selection of hot and cold dishes and fruit. Machine coffee was very good but not so the "juices" which were concentrates. The few times we bothered with lunch and dinner, the buffet was unimpressive with some obvious "recycling" of dishes. One evening we had the lunch desserts "prettied up" with broken biscuits ( see photo) Five star ? Mid way through our week, we asked for a change of bed linen. "Not our policy to refresh the linen unless over 7 nights" Five star ? They reluctantly agreed after some debate. Room was not serviced until 6pm or later. Five star ? The public rooms and facilities are very impressive but this is an average three star at best and should be advertised and priced accordingly. Many of the staff were cheerfully incompetent and obviously lacked training. We just wanted what we had paid for. Disappointing.

We are just back from a short stay at these hotel apartments. We had an excellent stay here. We had a deluxe apartment on the first floor over looking the pool. Although it’s set on a busy road you did not get any bother from the noise. The apartments were huge and had everything you needed for a self catering holiday. There was a large lounge with tv and a separate kitchen with cooker toaster kettle washing machine and dish washer. Lots of kitchen utensils to use and a full size fridge freezer. The bedroom was huge , with a large balcony and plent storage. There was also a tv in the bedroom. The out door pool area was nice but pool was cold . Lots of sun loungers and a small pool bar. The pool area gets the sun all day. It also had a lovely indoor pool with small jacuzzi , Turkish bath and sauna plus gym. We used this pool as it was warmer than our door pool. The hotel was clean and staff all friendly. The location was good. 20 minute walk on one direction to the old town and 10 minute walk to albuferia centre and strip. The train stops right outside the hotel if you don’t fancy walking. The beach is also just a 10 minute walk away. There was a small supermarket with a bakery next door to hotel which was handy. We were very happy with the hotel and location for what we paid for the holiday. Would Definately stay there again.

DO NOT GO ALL INCLUSIVE
Where do I begin, the all inclusive option is terrible there are signs around the hotel which I will put on here, it’s says for €32 you can upgrade to all inclusive and you will be surprised and you will……. Surprised how much money you have wasted on the awful selection of food and drink and to add insult to injury it went up to €45!!! In two days.
The food was nice the first night despite the lack of selection but went down hill from there.
I sat in the bar opposite and watched the set up of the dinner service, the food was sitting out for 45 minutes before the restaurant opened, when I went to eat the food was cold ( granted I went in to eat the minute it was open), the lunch service wasn’t much better, fatty pork chop cold potato’s ect.
The all inclusive drink section & availability is poor compared to the fantastic 5 star Eden Roc resort I said at in Rhodes last year, pool bar closed at 5pm and the downstairs bar opened 5 until 10:30, again compared to other 5 stars that are open till 12pm it’s just not good enough, no cocktails just local beer (which was nice) and local sprits which tasted like water added to coke.
The room was ok but nowhere near 5 stars, beds comfortable and good air conditioning but damaged door, towel rail hanging off the wall and they hold a £100 deposit for damage to the room which clearly is not being used to fix any damage done by other guests.
We raised these concerns with the manager who stated that in regards to the food he was there and temperature was set to 65 degrees, well that may be but when food is sitting out for 45 minutes and is cold when the restaurant is first open clearly something is wrong, on the selection of food he offered us to go to a sister hotel and eat there, I’m sorry that’s not acceptable this is supposed to be a 5 start resort and you want me to go to another hotel?!.
We had a 4 night stay asked for our money back on the last two days of our all inclusive as we would not be using the service and only had one dinner and lunch, due to the quality or options which fell on deaf ears.
The MGM group of which this hotel is apart of has 5 hotels in Albufeira, I’m not sure what the others are like but this is 3 star hotel at best.

Good morning After reading your comments witch i respect i would like to mention about prices. In fact the new prices starting in July. Is not a question of 2 days. On Tuesdays when i meet the gests i had the opportunity to speak with you and asked if everything was alright and you confirm everything is alright and you were very happy. To open the restaurant we must start put all before, starting with the salads and cold plates. The hot food we put near the opening. The selection of drinks we mention are everywhere what we have at clients disposal. We have mentioned in all our programs we have a choice of different cuisines in our sister hotels that clients can use if they are in AI and not to offer to go out as a courtesy, But get the experience of others flavours. Anyway we will keep doing our best to do better everyday and thank you for your comments. From all of us at Forte do Vale João Cabrita GM

Our first impression of the MGM Muthu Forte Do Vale was that it looked really nice…but our stay there was far from perfect. Despite booking a room with a balcony we were given a room with a balcony door, but no access, and when we raised this with reception we were told there were no rooms with a balcony available.
The walls and floors are very thin, and noise travels very easily. The outdoor pools are quite big but were very cold. I used weights area of the hotel gym, which was ok, but there were odd dumbbells missing, there was no aircon and no staff to be seen.
The hotel advertises multiple restaurants that you could eat at, however, only the Italian, La Toscana, was on site. We were a party of 6 and when we all checked in together, we decided to book the Italian. The fact we had booked together was not communicated to the restaurant, and despite there only being about 8 tables in the entire restaurant, the guy “managing?” that evening seemed to be thrown into a stress panic that they had to put 2 tables together to accommodate us (please note the restaurant wasn’t full), and from that point we felt we were being treated like an inconvenience. The portion sizes were tiny, the lasagne I ordered was barely 4 fork fulls. They did prepare some gluten free spaghetti for one member of our party, who subsequently ordered arrabiata sauce, however, when it arrived it was laden with cheese, and certainly didn’t taste like arrabiata sauce, not a difficult recipe.
The all inclusive buffet food was good, they didn’t try to do too much, and the dishes that were available were tasty. The all inclusive wines were good, as well as the draught Sagres beer. The desserts were interesting, and we invented the game Chocolate or Mockolate, where we had to guess which of the delicious looking desserts actually tasted of chocolate or not. There was a good selection of fresh fruit, which was also available at the pool bar during the day along with BBQ’d burgers, kebabs and prawns. The bar staff at the pool and the Piccadilly bar a friendly and helpful.
The pool area does not open until 9am, so there’s no early morning starts to reserve a sun lounger. The hotel is also in a nice location in between the strip and the old town, approximately 10-15 minute walk to each.
Would I stay there again?....Probably not, unless we got a very deal.
