A special mention for the receptionist, who was charming and spoke perfect English making Check-in and check-out seamless.
The property is surrounded by miles of olive trees and grape vines as far as the eye can see.
The location of the hotel is superb.
Pre-dinner appetisers and free wine were taken by a roaring fire before moving to the restaurant for the main event.
The main course and homemade dessert were again accompanied by free wine. Dinner was eaten in traditional Portuguese style, sharing a long table with other guests.
Chatting with the other guests made dinner a perfect evening.
Our room was spotlessly clean, and the ensuite had free toiletries and a good supply of hot water.
We had a good night's sleep on comfy beds and an excellent breakfast served at 9am with panoramic views of countryside.
The wine was so good we ended up purchasing 12 bottles.
We are so glad we chose to stay at Herdade du Vau instead of a miserable corporate hotel.

Wasn't sure what to expect after a 3-4km approach on a dirt track, especially as we had booked it months earlier and couldn't remember why! But after all that we absolutely loved this place and can't wait to return. Rustic charm and a chic ambience delightfully supported by relaxed, friendly staff all in a stunning vineyard location in the middle of nowhere. A set dinner supper is available if you book (30 euro with wine) - no choice but good home cooked Portuguese fare. Breakfast is vibrantly fresh and carries on through the sense of wellbeing. A honesty bar, a beautifully designed infinity pool and walks through the vineyard down to the river complete the package. Superb.

Let alone the setting is magnificent but the hospitality was amazing. The scenery surrounding is beautiful. We started with wine tasting with approximately with six other people. We then went onto pre dinner wine with nibbles and finally dinner where the gorgeous wine flowed. The other six people were good company and a great evening was had by all. Our host was extremely attentive and well organized.

Very nice hotel in a wonderful location. Very spacious rooms. Feels very welcome. The right place to relax. Dinner and breakfast are eaten at the same table as the other guests. Tip: register for dinner the day before by email. Has a pool in a great location. Access is on a dirt road. Unfortunately we were only there for one night as we were passing through, but we would book a week to relax.

Me and my family stayed there for one night and it was amazing. The drive there helps build up the feeling you are going to place to relax and simply enjoy it! The rooms are beautiful and the all property is very well kept. The views are spectacular and spending the afternoon at the pool was really good, how not to enjoy a pool with those views?! We had dinner and breakfast outdoors, the food and service were really good, local products, attention to detail, and social distancing measures in place. A wine tasting session was gifted from a friend and definitely recommend it, it helps to know a bit more about their passion for winemaking and to know about the story behind Herdade do Vau, needless to say, how gorgeous the wines are. Definitely recommend it and looking forward to staying there again soon! Thank you so much for such an amazing weekend!

Excellent place for those who want to have some tranquility. The absence of TV and internet access is essential. Leisure spaces and rooms decorated with great taste. Very pleasant outdoor space to be in, including a swimming pool. Wonderful views of the olive groves, vineyards and the Guadiana. Friendly staff that is hard to find, especially Mafalda and Mrs.Teresa, always present without being intrusive. It coincided with our stay, the presence of the owners who were also very friendly and with whom we had the opportunity to talk (Eng. Miguel and son Martim). Well done to everyone. Experience to repeat.

This has been the single best place I’ve been to in a long time.
The location is breathtaking, picturesque and very tranquil.
An amazing place to get lost in the beauty of nature and we also found it to be an amazing place to reflect and just appreciate a peaceful moment..
We dinned with the owners of the Herdade and other guests, which we thought it to be a lovely personal touch.
Our apartment was beautiful, spacious, clean and well equipped.
We cannot wait to returned and highly recommend this fantastic little g of a place.

Very nice place! Well integrated in the landscape, this house will show you how it is to live in Deep ancient Alentejo, but in a modern way! The people are very friendly, and atencious... Must try the pic-nic with river view, a pic-nic to remember for ever!
