The French like their smokes like Americans like their guns. They smoke like it's their fundamental right and it makes the world a better place. There isn't a single no smoking sign in the whole of Polynesia. Sure, there are designated areas but the ocean wind will blow every bit of it directly into the pace between your face and the mask you've been wearing since LAX. But I digress, there is a nice assortment of boutiques, and the patrons seem to be younger french folks who just want to smoke and chill out by the pool. The food is kind of Miracle Whipp-y. There's a nice black sand beach 20 yards away, and you can see the ruins of the abandoned Hyatt Tahiti on a nearby cliff.

We spent 2 nights here. The room was comfortable. We were on the 3rd level but we surprised that we had a limited view of the beach due to all of trees on the property. They offered high floor rooms which we would recommend if you want the best views. It was very nice to leave a window open and hear the surf. The property was pleasant and we sat out by the beach and the pool. The public beach was easily accessible and pleasant to walk on. You could swim but not really for snorkeling. The restaurant food was good but typically expensive. We had a rental car which made the location good for exploring the area. A few areas for improvement. Our section elevator did not work but it was not a big deal to us. The sliding door to the bathroom didn’t slide very well. The bed while comfortable was well used. There were limited outlets by the bed and one was controlled by the light switch limiting its usage.

My expectations of Tahiti hotels are low, because like most people I prefer other Polynesian islands. However, this hotel really is in a beautiful setting, with the softest black sand I have ever felt, and with a beautiful view of Moorea as a bonus. This is more low key and less crowded than other hotels I've stayed at in Tahiti. Definitely the best place I've stayed in Tahiti by far. And the folks at the front desk were wonderfully helpful.

My husband and I truly enjoyed this hotel and wished we would have spent more than 2 nights here! We have always seen Tahiti as more of a stepping stone to get to the more exotic islands of French Polynesia. However, this resort was so beautiful and should be a highlight to your trip. We stayed in the Premium Ocean View Room with Jacuzzi. These rooms are on higher floors so you are guaranteed a great view! The jacuzzi in the room is a romantic touch and some of the fun things that came with the room when you first arrive is aromatherapy scents for the jacuzzi, a soap spa gift, and fun welcome display on the bed. The main reason we stayed here was for the black sand beach. The black sand is so soft and beautiful, I couldn’t get enough of it! I thought this sand was even more exotic than the pink sand beaches of Tikehau. And this hotel is in a fantastic location that has great access to walk the beach quite a long ways if you wanted. Both days in this hotel we were able to see the humpback whales about ½ mile off shore from our room balcony! One of the days we could even hear their songs when snorkeling the beach! Super cool! We visited this resort in late September 2020 which is the peak of whale season. When it comes to snorkeling, this beach doesn’t have much fish or coral to look at, but it is still cool to snorkel over the black sand since the water is super clear.

This is a great city / resort hotel property. It is located 10 to 15 minutes from the center of town and yet is totally separate from the city and is located on the most perfect black sand beach. This is not black sand like other islands, the sand is POWDER. The water is warm and clear with small surf. This is one of the prime beaches in all of Tahiti. The restaurant/bar area seating is on the deck overlooking this beach - the rooms face the beach - a very unique view. The staff is happy and helpful - great service - with a special thank you to Mathis for extra help and care. The restaurant has a variety of delicious food for breakfast and lunch. Right now (due to the reopening - covid) dinner is the repeat of the lunch menu, but this will change. There are many great restaurants in Pape’ete to enjoy and the front desk staff will arrange reservations and taxis service. One must try Le Souffle restaurant for wonderful food and service and for really high-end dining Le Grillardin. The hotel with the quick taxi ride to downtown - is a must for shopping. The central market is always a first stop - the ground floor with lots of food and gift stalls and the second floor has great shops with Cafe Maeva (great for lunch). The are all kinds of shops in downtown, it is worth the walk around. Don’t forget to enjoy the food shops and sidewalk cafe - La Marquisienne or Les Reves De Lucia are a must stop. We used Le Tahiti as a first stop and last stop in our travels of the islands. Arriving at 5:00am after an 8 hour flight, great hotel for room, pool and refresh before traveling to another island. Same on the the way home, a day or two to repack, one last dip in the ocean and prepare for the flight home. We recommend Le Tahiti.
