Great hotel in waterside location in the heart of town. Lots of qwerky features, comfortable and clean. Hotel staff where lovely and the breakfast first class Unfortunately the site is shared with a restaurant whose management find the hotel guests an irritation so expect to be blanked during your stay and have them start laying up for lunch whilst you are having breakfast. Without them this would have rated 5 star but still a great hotel in a fabulous building

This is a hotel with a perfect location in Bruges, not too expensive either. We have always chosen the small doubles on the second floor, some of them have a wonderful view of the canal and the old houses on the other side. It’s clean, staff is helpful, and breakfast is very good. Parking is fairly easy, a couple of parking houses in the neighborhood.

This hotel is located in the downtown (i.e. old town) area of Bruges, right on the water where two canals join. Really fantastic views and an authentic experience. The hotel is old enough to where when you walk in most areas you hear the wood creaking beneath you - I actually like this as it adds to the experience. I thought the hotel overall was rather tired but again this added to the "old" charm of the hotel. I stayed in one of the suites, which was rather large and had several windows, perfect for enjoying the views. Bed was comfortable, bathroom was huge for European standards, and the room overall cozy. Perhaps a little bit noisy at night given the location, but not much of a problem. It's also likely due to the location you'll pay more than the average hotel, but I found the price to be cheap relative to other hotels on the water. Breakfast was average, but you eat in the large room of their restaurant, with big windows and nice views of the water. Breakfast is buffet style (though with COVID, you state what you want and it's brought to you). Staff was courteous, though I didn't get the impression they were very personable. I think this is because they were rather busy attending restaurant clients when I checked in and so they were pretty occupied. Overall recommended. Great location, authentic and charming hotel rooms with wonderful views, and reasonably priced relative to other hotels in the area.

Average food, terrible service. We had dinner here in July 2021. Three years ago I gave it a 5, but today I'm sad to say it has slipped dramatically. I would not advise anyone to eat here, although the setting is beautiful. The food is LCD, lowest common denominator. Tourist fare, sad.

Response from Arnaud Broes, Overig at Duc de Bourgogne

Hi Randy, Thank you for your feedback. First of all, I wanted to say that we most definitely are not a tourist trap. The majority of guests that visit us are from Bruges and its surrounding areas and will agree that our prices are very reasonable. In fact, why would you return if we'd charge unfair prices? Our prices have barely changed in the last three years so something does not add up there. Also, you first mentioned the food was OK, next you say it's horrible, which makes me believe you are salty because of a bad experience you had. Unfortunately you did not mention any details of your experience so I can't address it any further, but generally our staff are friendly and welcoming. Kind regards,

We recently stayed at Duc de Bourgogne in Bruges, it was an exceptional experience. We got a chance to stay in a canal view room which was the most stunning room we have ever stayed at. The views and location cannot be beat. We happened to be the only guests staying that night which made the complimentary breakfast the next morning a very unique experience. We learned that the hotel has been undergoing extensive renovation throughout the past number of years with plans to further update all rooms in the near term. We had a chance to speak with the owner and he shared the amazing story of the hotel, definitely recommend connecting with the staff when you are there. We look forward to our next stay here and hope to enjoy dinner as well.
