We very much enjoyed our stay at Bed in Gent! Half the fun is getting to know the host and Tom is a great conversationalist. We had the very comfortable room upstairs and we enjoyed rocking out to some Stones and Bowie with the vast collection of vinyl LPs in the room. The stairs are a little steep for people...

Staying with Tom is like visiting with an old friend. He makes you feel so welcome and comfortable that I echo other reviewers comments that he makes it so hard to leave. We stayed in the upper room and it's fantastic (unless you have a problem with steep stairs). Tom won't let you carry your bags up or down though....

This was my third stay at Bed in Gent .. so I guess that in itself gives a good indication of what type of place it is. This time I stayed for 5 nights during Genste Feesten. See my other reviews for more detail about this B&B - but in short: good location, friendly and helpful owner, and possibly the...

Tom made us extremely welcome and made our stay in Gent a very pleasant one. His knowledge of his city's attractions was as good if not better than the best of guide books. Steps to the bedroom were a challenge but provided good exercise for us in our seventies after the enjoyable breakfasts. Location is ideal for strolling round Gent...

Tom made our stay in Ghent such a unique and relaxed experience. Very impressive attention to detail, including the carefully selected selection of vinyl records to play in the room. The room and bathroom (2nd floor) were impeccably clean and beautifully designed. This B&B and the beautiful quiet city of Ghent make for a perfect relaxing getaway. Just be careful...

Tom was super helpful and we really enjoyed our stay. Clean with a good breakfast. The stairs are very steep and if you have mobility issues may be too difficult, but hubby and I thought they added to the character of the place. First place we stayed on our European vacation that had heaters that worked. Yay!

Tom runs a great place! We felt like home at Bed in Gent. Room was very clean and cosy, and we could listen to a lot of Lps. Very good brazilian bossa nova for breakfat in our endless chats! Location is very close to on of the train stations.

We visited Gent during a holiday weekend in late April. After arriving by Eurolines bus, we walked all of five minutes to Bed in Gent, where Tom welcomed us warmly and showed us to our spacious room on the second floor. The bed was delightful, the ambiance cheerful and the neighborhood perfect. Breakfast was a fun multinational conversational affair featuring...

My wife and I stayed at Bed in Gent for a weekend break. Tom was an excellent host who looked after us from the moment we arrived to the time we left. We had the top room, which is a bit of a climb up some steep stairs, but well worth the effort... clean, comfortable and complimentary Miles Davis (see...

We stayed one weekend at Tom's lovely B&B in Ghent and it couldn't have been better. Our room was clean, spacious and quiet, breakfast was delicious and Tom is passionate about Ghent and has plenty of good tips off the beaten track. Location is ideal in a quiet neighbourhood a short walk away from the city centre.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
A roomy guest-house, the bright south-oriented bathrooms and the shared dining room with a dash of modern retro - really, do not skip breakfast in that dining room. Also a friendly neighborhood, very much alive (without the rush). A fashionable quarter, if you like, with the marina nearby. It takes a five-minute walk to the railway station. Only ten minutes to my favorite coffee shop or the library. ... more   less

“Both rooms excellent. Stairs steepish which might give some a preference for 1st over 2nd floor although Tom helps with the luggage.”

“Two rooms to choose from both with different decor. If you like modern take the top floor; if you like older then the middle floor. The stairs to either room might make it hard for those having difficulty in climbing a tight steepish staircase.”
