My stay at this hotel was a nightmarish experience from start to finish. The level of cleanliness and hygiene was shockingly subpar. The sheets on my bed were clearly not washed, the room hadn't seen the likes of a vacuum cleaner in ages, and to top it off, there were no basic toiletries provided in the bathroom. Instead, I found remnants of someone else's body wash, a truly repulsive discovery that added to the overall sense of neglect.
As if the state of the room itself wasn't bad enough, there wasn't even a bin in the room, and the stench that hung in the air was nothing short of atrocious. In our desperate attempt to salvage the situation, we made our way downstairs to seek assistance from the front desk, but our wait for the receptionist to show up only added to the frustration.
Upon finally receiving another room, my hopes were quickly dashed, as it turned out to be in even worse condition than the first. The disappointment was palpable, and it was abundantly clear that the hotel's staff lacked the basic courtesy and professionalism that one would expect from any accommodation provider.
To make matters even more disheartening, it appears that a significant number of the positive reviews I'd seen before booking this hotel are likely fake, which only deepens my sense of betrayal.
In the end, we were left with no other choice but to cut our losses and abandon our reservation. It was an utterly repulsive experience that deserves nothing less than a 0 out of 10 rating, and I would strongly caution anyone considering a stay here to think twice and explore alternative lodging options.

The staff were friendly and they had a cat which was a positive, there was also AC which was nice. Although the beds were comfy the room wasn’t in the best condition. The door handle was pretty much falling off the bathroom door, there was mould on the roof of the bathroom, there was no toilet paper and we had to ask for it and they also left the previous visitors bathroom belongings in the room. The pictures online are misleading vs what you get in person. There was a weird smell during the day sometimes that was like hard boiled eggs. There were little bars of soap but the hand soap dispenser was empty.

This unfortunately was my worst experience in a hotel. When we arrived there wasn't anyone to greet us, we had to wait for someone to come in (they had obviously been outside), to check us in.
Then our room wasn't clean to say the least. There was lipstick on the mirror, stains on the duvet, the curtains and the walls. We were only provided with 1 towel each for a 4 night stay. There wasn't any toiletries included, just an old dove shower gel that looked like it was left by the previous visitor. The bottle was 3/4 empty.
There wasn't any shampoo, conditioner or hand wash and we ran out of toilet paper quickly and has to ask for more.
The room wasn't cleaned whilst we were there either, which you might think is fine. But it wasn't in the best condition to begin with, we even found an old used vape underneath the bed along with a small list of room numbers on a scrap of paper.
The remotes for the AC and TV only had 1 set of batteries in so you had to switch between both to use either. The bed sheet didn't fit the bed so would come off in the night as it was too small.
The shower drain was displaced, the shower was right next to the toilet separated only by a thin cheap shower curtain that stuck to you when you showered.
No breakfast was included in our stay, as I suspect they don't have a kitchen and certainly no where to eat at the hotel. But worse yet, was the fact that they had no means to make yourself a tea or coffee in your room as is custom for hotels. No kettle with a small selection of teas or coffees.
When we were checking out there wasn't anyone to see us off, we instead had to just leave our key card on the front desk and leave.
I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone, not even someone I disliked. They have a lot of areas for improvement. Being at least an hour away from the city and the main hubbub, means they really ought to be trying much much harder to be a nice hotel to attract and impress people to stay there.
The things I've mentioned above are such basic things for a hotel. Do better.

The room was incredibly dirty, old food everywhere & a fridge that smelled like something had died in it. the shower room was that dirty that we decided we were cleaner without going in it. the hand soap contained what smelt like bleach or toilet cleaner and there was bugs and mould inside the shower room. the water seemed to seep out onto the carpet outside the bathroom door 24/7- so prepare for wet socks. we also could not lock the door from the inside and the bolts holding the handle were partially unscrewed. the beds were comfortable but they had burn marks into the mattress and were filthy. on our last night two of us were awoken to a figure of a man standing in the hallway between two rooms, we are unsure on wether this was a staff member but due to the lack of security it is very much a possibility. do NOT stay here. if we could give it 0 stars, we would.

Nice staff but the hotel was not clean. And tip if you suffer from migraine or astma don’t come to this hotel. Hotel had this very strong unpleasent smell that gave me headache. Toilets unclean, mold in the walls. And dust everywhere

Terrible, stay away.
For the grand prix of Zandvoort we had booked with 3 people a room of 4 people a year in advance. We check in and the three of us are cheerfully sent to a double room. When we return to reception, the manager does not even want to speak to us and is not actively helped in finding solutions. Eventually creaky mattress laid out as a solution. Mold was everywhere. Including in the mattress. You practically have to shower in the toilet. Musty air. Everything is worn and the wallpaper is already peeling off the walls.

We are screwed, stuff is absolutely not in order at this ‘hotel’, had booked a 4-room and got a 2-room, we had already booked 13 months in advance and even checked in between because on Google it says that the hotel is closed (wrs because then no negative reviews can be posted?), room was dirty, poorly maintained, mattress with mold bah!

I booked a stay at the Golden Zaan Hotel, expecting a relaxing weekend getaway. Instead, I was greeted with a BEDBUG INFESTATION that turned my trip into an absolute nightmare
From the moment I checked in, things seemed off. The room looked clean, but looks can be deceiving. By the time night fell, I was covered in bedbug bites. As someone with a severe allergy to insect bites, this was a DISASTER. My skin broke out in painful welts, and I was forced to flee the hotel after just one night.
I had planned to stay for the entire booked period and had even paid the tourist tax for the full duration. Instead, I had to cut my trip short, purchase emergency tickets, and return home immediately. My weekend plans were completely destroyed, and I spent the next few days recovering from the bites. 😫✈️
The fact that a hotel can allow such a severe infestation is beyond unacceptable🕷️
