First we arrived at 12:30 instead of 1 Pm for the check in . the owner was anfry and told us to came At 1 Pm not earlier , not later !
The room was clean , but no window , so you have the feeling that you are in a cell , modern and clean but in a cell .
Even that the location is ok ( 100 meter from the see ) , even that we are used to go often in Vollendam very nice by the way. we will never sleep again at this place .

The hotel was a bit difficult to find, even using a sat nav. We found it after ringing the hotel and parking the car to walk to it. The hotel is situated above a pizza restaurant and only 2 minutes walk from the harbour. After a chat with the owner we dropped the bags off and parked the the car again. The car park is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel but is free. We had room 5 which was on the front side above the pizza restaurant entrance. The room was basic, it's an on suite bathroom that although dark in colour was clean.
The room was very hot even with both widows open, although we did find out they could be opened wider. (It was about 20 degrees outside). It was a bit noisy during the night from motor bikes and people walking home.
My only complaint would be that the towels were only changed once in our 3 night stay and the bin was was not emptied at all.
We had one meal in the restaurant and it was one of the best pizzas I have tasted.
The staff were all friendly and helpful.
Volendam is a lovely place to visit with some great bars and restaurants to try.

We decided to visit Amsterdam and Waterland area in North Holland (NL) with our daughter Alice (14). As the hotels in Amsterdam were very expansive, I decided to book the appartment (2 rooms for 3 people) in DV Groep B&B after reading bad comments on Trip Advisor...

I have to say that the hotel was a very good surprise for all of us :
Cleanliness, very good bed, and convenient bathroom.
A very simple but convenient design.
A tenant very helpful, loving to joke with the customers ("May we see the room ? Yes, of course, and also you will be allowed to sleep in !" ;-)
A so cute village (marvellous sunsets on a huge landscape)

Easy to find : go simply to the Dolce Vita restaurant (the room are at the 1st floor).
If you have said accurately your name and the period of arrival, the tenant will welcome you with warmness

Price for Money :
Excellent, considering you are next to Amsterdam (a capital) and in a very popular region (Edam, Marken, Waterland, Zuidersee...)

What could be improved
Easily :
Lamp for reading (none)
Glass to drink in the bathroom (none)
Curtains to have less light in the morning (we knew that the curtains were bad, and it doesn't disturb us)

More difficult, depending on the situation of the hotel which is downtown in a touristic area
Insonorisation (some people comes out of the bar next to the restaurant and discuss a bit loud...) : Ask for a room in the back of the house.

We didn't eat at the restaurant Dolce Vita and didn't try the breakfast.
We went to Cathrien Brasserie (good seafood, but a bit expensive).
You can also find a typical fishery near Cathrien : sandwiches with herings for only 2€.

Enjoy your stay, it's valuable :

My colleague and I arrived at this hotel recently having booked a room for a one-night stay (with a confirmation of the booking) to discover they had overbooked and we had travelled from England and had no-where to stay!! This is the most appalling service I have evr had travelling extensively across Europe for many years.
We were very lucky that a nearby hotel was able to offer us a small twin room (at a high price) which ensured we had a bed to sleep in that night.
Suggestion - DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER USING THIS HOTEL!! You may need to bring a tent just in case!

My rating - ZERO!! in any and all categories!

To start of on a positive note, great location and the room and bathroom seemed clean.

No to the negatives;
- Room had no athmoshpere,
- Only 1 chair for a double room,
- windows could not be opened/closed manually, which closed at 0530 and woke us up.
- Windows had no curtains / coverage so it got bright already early in the day.
- Restaurant was closed (no breakfast possible)
- Shower-head was leaking and no curtain, so the toilet area got flooded.

This is a very convenient place to stay if you are going to Amsterdam by car. Ask the owner about the place where you can park for free and take the boat to Amsterdam.

Volendam is also a very nice town. It is worth a walk around the town and the harbour.

Mind that if you are too fussy about the noise. The rooms are not so well isolated but in any case is much more quiet than anywhere in the centre of Amsterdam.

We had a great stay there.

At first we had difficulty finding the B&B since we didn't know that it was above the restaurant, and coincidentally, the gentleman who offered to help while we were looking up the map turned out to be the owner. Like most dutch, he was also very kind and helpful, as well as other staffs.

We stayed in room 6, which was modernly decorated and comfortable. The TV was not a satellite one but the high speed wifi made amends for the lack of entertainment.

Strongly recommended.

This place was a great relief after the hole we were staying in in Amsterdam. Owner very welcoming and accommodating. Luckily we got rooms with windows- first night overlooking the street and the second with view of roof tops. Loved the spaciousness and large bathrooms. Beware of noise of stairs and wet bathroom floor after showering that makes it slippery. Also the breakfast in an extra charge which was odd. Maybe it is called a b and extra charge b.

I like the cleanliness and the brightness of the room, and altho it is only a B&B room, it gave me a comfortable feeling. It is about 50m from the waterfront, which is one of the key attractions of Volendam. Wi-fi is free, and they are not stingy on the heater, unlike another nearby hotel which turns on the central heating only when it gets cold. The best piece is the friendliness of the staff who makes you feel very welcomed. Kemo and his friends certainly made my trip a memorable one - I came as a solo traveller, and I left Volendam having made 4 friends.

If your idea of a weekend away is a relaxing break, with a good night's sleep followed by a nice shower - then this place is NOT for you. The room was a windowless, hot and stuffy box. Daylight came in from a skylight in the roof which had no blind, so that at 5am we were woken by the bright light. The shower head did not attach to the wall and when we spoke to the manager he told us that they do this on purpose to save money, since it stops people having long showers! The place is run on a shoestring budget and it shows. In the Italian restaurant downstairs run by the same 2 guys the menu is as un-interesting as the food itself. They don't have enough staff, it was 30 minutes before we were brought a drink and over an hour for a pizza, which was soggy and undercooked when it did eventually arrive. The 'mixed salad' was disgusting - nothing more than tasteless yellowing iceberg lettuce and some tomato - and you are paying restaurant prices for this! The owners seem highly strung and they react to criticism aggressively, their priority is simply to take your money, not to ensure you have an enjoyable stay. One positive comment is that this is in a good central location, but has no parking. Luckily we were only booked in for one night and we were glad to leave. There are better value options in this town. Verdict: To be avoided!
