Its a very atmospheric hostel. Many places to sit, lots of possible activities. Room was okay and quite clean. Nice employees that are very helpfull and caring . Three points of improvement: 1. Window: I had one window in my room I could not open. It would have been really nice to air out my room. 2. Guest kitchen: its old and not clean. A little bit more design, clean towels you can use and a washbasket for the dirty ones, a very specific order where you have to put things. These three things would help a lot to keep te kitchen clean. 3. No water boiler: so at night I could not get some hot water or I had to pay 1,50 a cup. I think it is very hospitable to make sure people can always get some hot water for there own tea our soup.
It's the 3rd time i stay in this Hostel. I like the atmosphere, friendliness of the staff and location, but this is the second time the room is dirty. Last time i stayed there was an open lube container right on top of the bed. This time there was dry urin on the toilet seat, a gum stuck by the mirror, deied toothpaste on the sink and hair onthe bed. It makes me wonder if they even change the sheets. I really don't think I'll be staying there again
Location is convenient, easily accessible from Amsterdam Centraal via the ferry across the river. Lots of great open spaces for socializing inside. The room with a double bed is the perfect size and contains everything that is needed of expectations.
Booked a room just prior to the pandemic starting and wasnt not able to make our original booking. Clink wouldnt refund us and was poor to commuincate until we issued a chargeback through our card provider. Eventually we were offered credit which we had to extend as the Netherlands wasn't allowing foreign travel. We were finally able to rebook when the Netherlands were allowing foreign travel just in time before our credit expired, and travel restrictions then tightened again shortly after. Non essential shops in Amsterdam would be closing at 5pm each day making a trip quite undesirable and the cost of testing has risen dramtically and self isolation would have been nessesary. I contacted Clink to see if they could once again extend the credit until travel was deemed safe, but they outright refused to. They also said that if the Nethereland were to stop allowing travel all together, they would still not extend the credit. It has now been 671 days since I booked the hotel, and clink still have my money for a service that I have not, and now will not, be using. They are extremely unresonable and have now left us 305 euro out of pocket. Our airline have allowed us to change our flights free of charge to a different destination next year so we will now no longer be visiting Amsterdam at all. Thanks a lot Clink! Book somewhere else.…
I’ve heard a lot about this hostel, so I’ve decided to give a try. I’ve booked for one night, in a girls dorm (4 beds) and it was good. You have big lockers in the room, you can store easily your stuffs. You can also buy food there (cakes, sandwiches, burgers..) which it helped me a lot because I was really hungry and everything was closed (I’ve came during partial lockdown…) Staff is helpful and friendly (special mention to Valentina and Pedro ☺️) and you have plenty of space to chill out, meet others guests, whatever you prefer. Unfortunately, I didn’t have the opportunity to try the Zinc Bar but I hope I could do it next time I’m coming. The breakfast buffet is worthy and good, you have plenty of choice, sweet or salty. The hostel is also well located, you can take the free ferry (about 5-10 min crossing) to reach city center easily. I recommend this place if you are coming to Amsterdam ;)…
