A perfect location to explore Amsterdam, situated on the busy Red Light Area, with a fantastic selections of cafe's, bars, restaurants, coffee shops, pastry shops and supermarkets close by. All major attractions within walking distance. Check in was smooth with the offer of assistance with my luggage to my single/twin room. I was up 4 lots of stairs, which were...

We booked this hotel for New Year, The price was definitely reasonable for the location (right in the middle of Red Light District). I had requested we have a room with a private bathroom and also if possible a view on to the red light district as we are just a young couple and weren't bothered about thew noise etc....

If you want a taste of the nightlife in the Red Light District of Amsterdam and the comfort of just heading directly to your bed, this is the place to be. For the price you pay, the hotel room is decent. There is a bar located on the ground floor which also serves as the reception. You can just chill...

Nice hotel. Clean rooms. Well equipped mini bar. Friendly stuff in the hotel bar. The bar is also the reception of the hotel and give you access to the rooms. The prices in the bar are not cheap. 5,50€ for a beer. 2,50€ for a Coffee. They don't have a sep. locker for baggage in the reception. Next door are...

Advertised as 'retro'! Our room wasn't retro, just not been decorated in years!! Clean, very basic, good location. Our room was facing the canal which was lovely, just v noisy at night which was fine by us.

I stayed here last weekend within a group of seven friends (including Charlotte B). Upon arrival we checked in via the bar area and made our way to our rooms. There are quite a lot of stairs in this hotel so I wouldn't recommend staying here if you or anyone in your party have mobility issues. Myself and two others...

I've never written a bad review for a hotel in my life, but this is literally THE worst hotel I've ever stayed at. You're basically paying for a really crappy and really expensive Hostel. The rooms are dirty, the hotel reception is a dive bar. The WiFi doesn't work. The manager at the hotel is extremely rude and ignorant of...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
