My first trip to Amsterdam was one where we will be back. The hotel was clean, comfortable and small enough where you get to meet other guests. We had room 17 on top floor away from street. Very quiet and restful. I loved the narrow...More
Clean, comfortable and location, location, location!! Near all the gay hot spots and (for Amsterdam!) it's still pretty inexpensive. The breakfast is nothing to write home about but it's a great way to meet other people staying at the hotel! We love the Golden Bear!
Really clean and comfortable hotel with friendly staff and good breakfast. Yes the stairs are steep, but this is common with all original Amsterdam Town Houses.

This UNESCO World Heritage Site is as historically significant as it is perennially popular. Whether you’re a history buff, architecture enthusiast, shutterbug, or fashionista, odds are you’ll find the Amsterdam you're looking for while roaming around the Grachtengordel (Canal Ring). A brilliant place to get lost in a moody meander and a key component to any sightseeing trip to Amsterdam, this area's major draws
include the Anne Frank House, the Bloemenmarkt floating flower market, an enviable assortment of independent boutiques along De Negen Straatjes, and of course all of Grachtengordel’s lovely canals and bridges.

We spent a few nights at this hotel and never saw any rats. We were on the top floor so not sure if this had anything to do with not seeing any. The only problem we had was the smell of the toilet which constantly smelled of urine. Hope this helps your decision.
