Good budget option. Good price for the location, but very basic room. A guy came in our room at 9am without knocking to get our bin which hadn't been used, which I found very weird. We were located on the top floor of hotel Ben and the stairs alone would stop me from returning, they were incredibly steep and dangerous.

It is very centric, I would recommend if you are travelling with friends (but not with partner). I think it is cheap and clean compared to other places in Amsterdam, but still it is quite terrible. There is no elevator and you have to climb these terrible small stairs, you can check out at 10:30 but almost one hour before...

Stayed here for 2 nights 30th January. This is not the Hilton, if you want the Hilton then pay for the Hilton! Stayed as a party of 9 in a 4 and a 5 bedded room. Yes the rooms are basic but bed was comfortable and sheets were spotless, don't know about the fleece blanket but we didn't use them...

Booked a room here 5 months before arriving. Then got regular updates before arriving as a 'countdown'. On arrival we discovered that the hotel had elected to cancel our booking, with absolutely no notice and no apologies. Disgraceful. The hotel is now under investigation by our booking agency. Would seriously recommend everyone to stay well away.

Staff were very friendly. Location was great. Felt the price was quite costly for the facilities on offer but the price probably reflects higher costs in central Amsterdam and due to the prime location. Didn't like the stairs but these steep staircases were prevalent in other similar businesses in the area.

This is the WORSE "hotel" I've ever been!! 100 steep steps to get into the room. The room was absolutely DIRTY, in the floor, in the wall (😂😂) in the bathroom, holed towels and a very strong cigarette smell. Bad experience. Don't book this Hostel for no reason! 😰

The room was not nice at all, wouldn't recommend staying there ,too many steps for one ,really dirty carpet, bad cigarette odour and it was more like a hostel than a hotel really nice staff though there's one guy call (Hursh) he was very pleasant and welcoming he tried to assist in every possible way so thumbs up to him...

For a week end with friends, this hotel is way more the enough. Just a spot to sleep and to have a shower that's the minimum for amstedam. For the smokers, it's allowed in the rooms. For couples... Think of somewhere else. Not that it is a bad hotel, but you will not find the magical little thing for a...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
