This is a very cheap hostel and the location is very good because is near the Museum Square. There are music festivals over there. Also you could get walking to Amsterdam downtown maybe in 25 min. If you don't mind about anything else then this will be good for you. I was in a 10 people room which was probably...

I am generally not that fussy but this hostel has very poor standards. Firstly, don't bother with the free bereakfast, its not worth walking down the stairs for. The bathrooms are a disgrace. The toilets do not flush, the showers flood, the showerheads are broken and on top of that they are constantly filthy. Also, there is only one bathroom...

This was by far the worst place I have ever visited. Where to start... Firstly we arrived and had to wait over an hour for the manager to get there so we could pay. In the meantime we had to just wait, and after 5 hours of traveling this was quite frustrating as we just wanted to get into our...

Bedbugs in two beds, owner lied that we had not pre-booked and charged us again. He accused us of losing a bike lock and then charging £30 for a non-lost bike lock. The price for the location looks too good to be true and that's because it is. Stay elsewhere if you want to Enjoy Amsterdam. This is a hotel...

We (my best friend and I) stayed here from Jul 12-15 to kick off our 2 1/2 month Euro trip and though the location was good and the bunk comfortable, everything else about this place was absolutely feral. Check-in was fast easy. We were given our room key and made our way up then three very narrow, harrowing flights of...

I stayed for three nights in August 2015. One night I came back quite late to find that the managers had double booked my bed out. All they could do was put a mattress on the floor for me. The staff are all a bit moronic and seem confused all the time. The manager is very friendly at first but...

There was 10 of us staying in this hostel while we was interailing, we had a very tight squeeze in to the room but we wasn't too upset about it as it was in a good place, it is about 30/40 minutes walking from the train station but it is very easy to get a tram there. The staff were...

Staying in Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)

Neighbourhood Profile
Museum Quarter (Museumkwartier)
Top sites to see in this attractive and affluent part of town include the Rijksmuseum and the Van Gogh Museum, to name but two of the highly acclaimed museums of the aptly named Museum Quarter. And if you need a break from all the fantastic art, there’s the Neoclassical Concertgebouw music hall and Vondelpark, the city’s largest park. Shopaholics and luxury brand connoisseurs will love exploring the high-end shopping destinations of PC Hooftstraat, Van Baerlestraat, Cornelis Schuytstraat, and Jacob Obrechtstraat, where even the shop window displays are of museum quality. In the evenings, when the museums close and the daytrippers head home, the area becomes a quiet oasis of calm with a sophisticated and urbane tone.
