Reviews summary
This summary was created by AI, based on recent reviews.
Powered by AI
Room Mate Aitana has garnered appreciation for its service, with many guests commending the friendly staff and thoughtful gestures for special events. While some travelers have questioned the professionalism and value, finding certain services overpriced, others feel the pricing is fair, especially given the hotel's convenient location near central attractions—albeit some guests would prefer an even closer proximity for weary feet after a day of exploration. The cleanliness of the modern rooms is often highlighted, although a few have noted inconsistencies with housekeeping.
Room experiences vary, with many finding comfort in the spacious and well-maintained surroundings, yet others report issues with upkeep and noise. The hotel's amenities, including the striking views, contribute to its stylish and contemporary atmosphere, which is generally well-received despite occasional disruptions from construction.

Hotel's Favourite
Very convenient and safe location, within a 15 minutes romantic walk along the quay to reach the central station and the heart of the city, delicious and filling breakfast, beautiful restaurant with a great view, spectacular bedrooms with all the comforts you can dream about and above all an incomparable staff, from the Director - who can see right through you and anticipate your needs - going through the concierges all the way down to the housekeepers, everyone is dedicated, kind and very helpful. They are always ready to help with a smile ( even in very busy situation) and they try to provide or search all the information you need, anytime. They really know how to make you feel at home!
(And the red fruity water offered in the lobby as a welcome is a must!)
I warmly suggest this place!
POSITION AND SAFETY
The hotel is in a very convenient position, within a 15 minutes romantic walk along the quay to reach the central station and the heart of the city.
It is placed between the Palace of Justice and a Ministry, so I can guess the area is very safe. The reception is open h24, and you can access the floor only scanning your personal key and that make you feel very safe , above all if you are a woman who is travelling alone
FOOD
Delicious and filling breakfast, with a great variety of food. Actually you can cover a full board with 3 meals with the stuff that are served in the morning:-). Also the dinner was tasty. And the chance to consume your meal in front of a full glass wall from which you can enjoy the view of the water and the boats is definitely a plus.
BEDROOMS
I stayed in a suite, which was spectacular, in every details, from the designer forniture going through the bath tube in the middle of the room to the very comfy bed and all the comforts and kits you can dream about. But my colleagues stayed in more standard rooms and they were happy too. Good taste in the coloured forniture , spacious showers and good quality bathroom kit.
NOTEWORTHY:

We’ve just returned from a long weekend in Amsterdam at Room Mate Aitana. It was our first time in Amsterdam & we found it really hard to know where to chose as we didn’t know where anything was or where we wanted to be! I’ll try to give the info I was looking for when booking somewhere, so...
1. Location - this hotel is in a great location to see everything. It’s not directly in the (busy) centre but perfectly placed a short walk from central station & central station is basically the start of seeing everything. We far preferred being able to walk into the centre then back to the hotel for peace. We easily walked everywhere from the hotel & saw everything we wanted. (Canal rings, museum quarter, the centre). There’s also a bike hire place directly opposite the hotel if you want it & trams etc. once you’re at station if you don’t want to walk. It’s also really well placed if you book a trip to see the windmills, the one we were on collected you from opposite central station. You take a (free) boat ferry to the other side of the river which was really easy to understand. There’s also a small supermarket & chemist at the station which is handy.
The hotel - excellent! Really beautiful looking hotel. We were instantly given a warm welcome & efficiently checked in. If you’re offered a room on a high floor take it, you get the view! We were then given a handy map (& endless replacements when we lost them) & talked through the highlights of what to see. I cannot praise the staff at this hotel enough they were a shining example of customer service. It’s also in a lovely location with a marina you look out on, and views of the tower & eye, so pretty at night.
The hotel bar is also really nice (& reasonably priced) comfortable to relax in with an amazing view & the chap running it was lovely & really helpful in recommending drinks. We didn’t eat in the restaurant so can’t comment, we were too busy out seeing the sights!
The room - so comfortable, the bed was the best I’ve had in a hotel, huge & so comfortable! Everything was spotlessly clean, the cleaning team do an amazing job. Great bathroom with a lovely shower. There’s also the touches of shower gel, shampoo, conditioner & body lotion etc.
Overall I would stay here again in a heartbeat it made our Amsterdam trip perfect. I’m really pleased we chose this hotel, it was relaxing & we knew if we had any questions there was always someone to help.
We’ll be back!

Wow. That’s all I can say. I cannot explain how beautiful this hotel was. I booked a stay in this hotel as a surprise for my boyfriend for 3 nights from the 25th-28th February 2020. We were so impressed. The staff made us feel very welcome and were all very good at speaking English which was very appreciated. The hotel had a gorgeous atmosphere and looked stunning. We went to our room and it was spotless. I booked the standard room which was extremely spacious. The bathroom again was spotless and the shower was very big which was lovely. The hotel leaves you shower gels, conditioner, shampoo etc and replenishes them every day which again was a lovely gesture.
My favourite thing about this hotel was the bed. It was the comfiest bed and the comfiest pillows I have ever slept on. Every single night I had an incredible sleep. I’m going to miss the bed!
They have a mini bar full of drinks and a snack bar full of food which is perfect when you fancy a drink.
Our maid was Patricia who was lovely and did a fantastic job every day. Thank you!
The hotel bar and area around this was absolutely gorgeous and so relaxing.
The location was very close to Amsterdam Centraal train station and so for us, we found the location perfect and it was also in a quieter area!
Overall, this hotel was absolutely incredible and it was a pleasure to stay. Thank you so much for such a lovely time.

My girlfriend and I stayed at the Aitana for three nights on a weekend trip to Amsterdam and were more than pleased with our stay. Friendly staff let us check in advance following our early morning flight which allowed us to refresh ourselves and head out to comfortably enjoy our first day in the city. The location is pretty good - only a short walk to the western edge of the city and only 10 mins from Amsterdam Central Station.
It’s useful to note that staff were happy to advise on city travel and book travel passes for trains and trams etc from reception so you can avoid the queues at the station.
Our room was clean, modern, and spacious. The bed was very comfortable and the view of the city was great. The bathroom was clean and the shower was excellent.
The bar on level one was good but a little overpriced. Not a bad option if you don’t fancy venturing far or for a drink before going out for the evening but it’d be an expensive night if you chose to stay in. Similarly the menu at the restaurant seemed expensive and lacking in options.
All in all I’d recommend staying at the Hotel Aitana if you’re looking for a new, clean and contemporary hotel a short walk from the railway station and the city - away from the disorder of the old town.

We enjoyed this hotel because of its location and proximity to Central Station and the great customer service we enjoyed. The hotel also has a wonderful breakfast selection. It surpassed my expectations.
The only issue we did have was not enough lighting for the size of the room. They rely on a bunch of little light fixtures positioned throughout the room to provide light. It is not adequate. Otherwise, everything else was great.

Stayed here for 2 nights while visiting Amsterdam.
Our room was right next door to the lifts so we were initially worried it may be loud but you couldn’t hear a thing.
The rooms are really big and modern. The bathroom was clean and a great size shower.
Room had shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, a hairdryer and a safety deposit box.
The staff were also really friendly and happy to help.

I booked this hotel as part of my wife's birthday surprise . When we arrived, check in was done easily and we went up to room. When we opened the door, I couldn't believe what the hotel had done. They had decorated the bedroom with confetti, a beautiful written card wishing my wife a happy birthday, a message written on the main bedroom mirror, not to mention a few Dutch goodies and a free drink voucher at the hotel bar. My wife loved the surprise :)
Our room, it was very comfortable, modern and very well presented. The room had excellent views across the city The hotel was within walking distance to the city center and was only a few minutes walk from central station and we will most definitely book again.
We also had dinner in the restaurant (I dock) on the evening of arrival and it also was very nice
Thank you Room Mate Aitana and staff for being so attentive and for making our stay so special!
Regards
Patrick and Pauline

I've always wanted to visit Amsterdam's beautiful canals without the annoyance of the usual crowd of wild tourist, and i figured out that the global Covid fear was the best time to do so successfully.
I took the opporturnity of using the current Room Mate Hotels amazing "friend" tariffs to enjoy the town from a very amazing location, parking, bike rental, local pub, and bike bridge all in front of the hotel located on a beatifully desigen artificial peninsula right next to the beginning of Haarlemmerstraat, the main road for cute bars and restaurants, squeezed between vintage hip Jordaan district and the riverside. (The same road that will transform into more touristy and bring you directly to Dam Square as soon as it enters the central island, 8 minutes by walk away)
But apart from the comfy but away from the touristic mess location, the incredible wiew from my room on the 10th floor, windows everywhere, I was really impressed by the staff!
I am a proud city explorer and the guest relations & reception team helped me out a lot on getting a true local understanding of the different city districts, they were super patient with me even if i bothered them for about 45 minutes on the first day I arrived.
I would like to point out the names of all the staff that impressed me, but they all did, you can see truly nice people, beneath their staff uniforms. People that will be able to offer you the best service naturally, without pushing to do so.
The breakfast room/restaurant was great with beautiful view on the canal boat docks, and possibility to eat out on a floating pier.
Definitely the best location if you want to visit central Amsterdaam in the comfort of being outside tourist hell.
Best memory: The amazing shower power, the view, the staff recomendations!

We stayed here as part of a little mini break to see family. As it was my wife’s birthday, we decided to spend a little more and upgraded to a full suite. Considering the total price was 370 Euros for a single night, it seemed somewhat stingy that it didn’t include breakfast! Our suite was huge and very clean indeed but was dimly lit which detracted from the overall experience as we had to keep getting our smartphones out and switching on the torch to see anything in detail. The staff at reception were very friendly, but they were clearly understaffed as we regularly had to wait 5 or 10 minutes before seeing them. The restaurant was also closed due to staff shortages, which wasn’t mentioned to us when we booked, hence overall only a 3* rating.

This hotel is excellent. I was kindly welcomed by Christian who gave me all the information that I needed as a tourist. I was happy with the quality of the room and also the view. I ordered a burger from room service and it was excellent. Also the location of this hotel is the best because it's next to the Amsterdam central station and you can be downtown in 15min.

Hi, the rooms don’t have a smart TV unfortunately.
I think so, I cannot remember but I think I do remember seeing some.
I am not sure but I don't think so
My room had 1 queen bed, but I think there was a room type of a King Suite as an option when I booked my stay.
Red Light District is probably a 15 -20 min walk, depending on your pace.
