Reviews summary

The Fletcher Hotel Amsterdam offers a sophisticated atmosphere with its modern aesthetics, which some guests find appealing. However, concerns about cleanliness and misleading room descriptions have been raised by several travelers. The hotel's amenities receive mixed reviews, and while the location is praised by some for its transport convenience, others find it too remote and not cost-effective for city visits.
Service experiences vary, with reports of both friendly and unhelpful staff. Additionally, the value for money is questioned due to high prices and hidden fees.

Detailed Reviews
Myself and my partner stayed here at hotel fletcher for 3 nights whilst having a short trip away to Amsterdam for the first time.
The hotel is located a fair distance from the centre of Amsterdam but is on a short bus route to the closest train station which takes you straight there (all tickets cheap and only needs to tap for contactless- does not take money).
When arriving to the hotel we was greeted by staff and reminded we had to pay a tourist tax fee which was done there and then. We went to our room which was located on the 9th floor.
Upon entering the room it smelt clean and looked tidy, the view had potential being 9 stories high but sadly this hotel is located on a motorway and next to a prison so there was not much nice scenery but was completely silent so the motorway was not an issue.
The facilities were basic (tea bags, sugar, 2 shower gel minis, hair dryer and a safe) there was a coffee machine in the room as well which I found a nice touch.
Originally at a first glance the room looked fresh but when looking up close it was worn, there was a few stains on the wall, the fabric cloth on the bed frame ripped and marks over the mirror but all in all was clean just obvious wear and tear.
The bed was our biggest issue in this hotel. It was 2 single mattresses and frames put together but the mattress was thin and tiny (it didn’t fit the frame) the sleep here was not a comfortable one and at times we was woken to half the mattress hanging over the bed.
We didn’t have food here but all looked and smelt nice when walking past but cannot comment.
Lastly the smoking lounge was a nice touch located on the 19th floor/balcony (no views from here as it is caged in for safety) small but had a few tables and ask trays (there was a sign to say no drugs to be in this hotel so I’m not sure if cannabis smoke is allowed up there) but normal cigarettes definitely.
Overall me and my partner had a lovely time and managed to get to where we wanted from this hotel location. Would recommend if wanted simple but not if you want a more luxury feel.

The pandemic was the reason why this hotel was not busy at all. Good thing: The restaurant was open to eat there and the bar to consume also alcoholic drinks was open late at night too. Overall clean and ok. Not so good: The rooms looked better on the pictures and the shower idea is great but when you actually take a shower, your partner can’t see much due to the steam of the water... And the toilet is a bit odd. Looks like a toilet in a cold poorly decorated cuboid. The hotel room was also poorly decorated.

Very pretty hotel with a rather atypical design, which also has a bar, a restaurant and a roof top for smokers.
Stay in a “deluxe” room on the 15th floor, with queen size bed, coffee machine, safe, hairdryer..
Little extras are offered such as a toothbrush, a razor, slippers...
The shower is right in the middle of the room.
Negative points :
There is only cold water coming out of the shower, we only had hot water from the sink..
There is nothing to hang the towels up to dry.
Paid parking, €15 per night.
Good to know :
The hotel is located around twenty minutes by car from the city center of Amsterdam.
Allow €25 for an Uber ride from the hotel to the city center and vice versa.
Fast food (KFC, Burger King) just 5 minutes walk from the hotel.

I can’t rate this hotel more than one star due to the shocking customer service, and the beds. I booked a couples stay and the hotel knew this as I had requested petals and balloons however we had single beds pushed together, each morning when I woke up I’d find myself hanging off the bed as the mattress had fallen off the bed !!! Our room only got cleaned once out of 3 nights so we had no fresh water or towels! I had to call reception 5 times to get a bottle of water !! Though the shower in the middle of the room was the best part of the hotel, the shower door kept falling off so we had to be really careful . We stayed in room 907- we will not return! Fletcher hotel sort your service out !!!!!

After a horrible 2020, I booked the hotel for a few days for the Christmas - New year period, however my city went into Lockdown and I could not travel. On their website, the hotel claims you can cancel for free up to 24hours before, and even though I cancelled days in advance, the hotel charged me the full amount which is over £700. their excuse was that I booked through booking.com so free cancellation does not apply to me. I called booking.com who tried to persuade them to refund my money but they refused, I also called the hotel on numerous occasions to plead with them as this was my hard earned saving and after loosing so much in 2020 I needed this money, but they absolutely refused. The hotel staff were dismissive, unsympathetic, no refund, no voucher, nothing for a booking which cost the property nothing but money which meant the world to me.

I don’t even know where to start. I booked this as a birthday gift for my husband, I paid for breakfast and when it came to breakfast time it was absolutely disgusting! Had me feeling ill all day! The rooms are not clean, the “deluxe double room” is not a double and it’s no where near deluxe either! It’s 2 single beds pushed together with what I can only describe as prison mattresses with toppers on. Very unsteady and very easy to fall out of bed! 1 small pillow each with no spare in the cupboard.
All you get is paper cups and when the cleaner comes round she doesn’t replace them or even clean up she makes the beds and that’s it. The doors are caked in dust at the top! The shower is constantly hot and cold, it looks nice but it’s not worth the price you pay!
Toilet roll is like sandpaper and there is no soap or shampoo to use, not helpful if you travel hand luggage!
Restaurant closes at 10, if you’re hungry they hate you going over the road for some food and bringing it back. I also witnessed a giant rat in the car park which also made me feel uneasy.
To make it all better, the heating is stuck! The room keeps getting hotter and hotter and all the staff said is “we will get an engineer to fix this”…. We are still waiting :/
I could say a lot about this place, this hotel has ruined my holiday and I will not be returning in the future. 100% recommend staying in the centre even if it does cost a little more - it’ll be worth it!

Beware when booking a “double deluxe room” in this hotel. Their “double deluxe” rooms are between the 3-12th floors. I booked a double deluxe room with 1 bed and got 2 single twin beds. They have stated that only the 12th floor has king size beds! Unbelievably they have stated all the rest 3-11th floors despite being double deluxe rooms have twin single beds. So despite booking and paying for a double deluxe room with 1 bed we received twin single beds. The hotel advised that if you want a “king size bed” which most people associate with a double deluxe room you actually have to book an “executive room” and these are only located on the 14th and 15th floor! So despite booking a 1 bed double deluxe room we received twin single beds and were told that is a double deluxe room as it sleeps 2 people! I’m sure most people would agree that is something quite different that would be classed in my opinion as a twin bedroom not a double deluxe 1 bedroom that we booked!
Also beware the Sky bar restaurant in the hotel has no English food menus. They do not have an English menu for that restaurant in the whole of the hotel! Despite being open for 10 years they are apparently still waiting for them! The barcode on the back of the menu that intimates you can read the menu in English simply takes you to a website with every single hotel in the fletcher chain with no way of getting to see an English menu. So anyone with a food allergy I suggest unless you can read Dutch beware. In a world of international travel especially in the hotel business I would have thought an English food menu is a basic requirement especially for food when food ingredients could literally be life or death for some people. So manager beware this is an accident waiting to happen and needs to be addressed as a matter of urgency before someone gets ill or worse. You have been warned!!

I stayed at the hotel in one of the executive bedroom, and during the night the fire alarm went off at 1am on 31/01, a recored message asked everyone to evacuate the hotel immediately! I took the stairs down from the 14th floor and as there was not information and no staff to guide us, I stayed outside for a while, and then decided to stay in the car since there was no further reaction from anyone of the staff. I was surprised and disappointed by the lack of organisation, support and communication from the staff during and after the incident. I could finally go back to my room at 2.30am, but I could obviously not sleep until the morning because of the stress and the fear that something will happen again...nobody told the customers about what happened.
The hotel has an orginal design, but it looked more like a 'party' hotel, with a DJ at the bar, and mainly young couples being noisy at night, so if you look for quietness, i would not recommend it. The king size bed were actually two matrasses put together...!

Really awful experience. First hotel is really far from city center of Amsterdam. The parking is not included and is charged per day. The shuttle service well really bad too - you need to schedule in advance at the reception, it works every hour to drive the 2-3 km to the metro station, you need to pay per trip and per person 3 euros extra and it works up to 10 pm. If you wanna come back you also need to call. Surroundings are highways so its pretty dark and dangerous to walk from station to hotel. Toilets are not the most clean. Airco is old, not clean and extremely loud. You cannot turn off or regulate temperature, so it can get cold in the eve. Doors are thin and you can hear corridor easily. Worse and not even a cheap backpack hostel can beat that, was just to have an ice cold shower, no hot shower available. And even worse was to be told that can happen, that they were fully booked (as this was a justification). If you ask if you can borrow a charger you are asked to buy it. Windows are not mirrrowed, so you def can be seen from the street level. Carpets are poorly cleaned and really lot of dust. Just breakfast in which you pay extra 14 euros is good. But you can only breakfast up to 10 am and check out 11 am. I couldnt sleep. So, nah never again.

+1
Stunning hotel and rooms. very clean and tidy, roof top is amazing to sit with a drink or coffee and relax. downfall is price is tiny bit steep for the location, closest shop is roughly 18 min walk away, but has a Burger King kfc and other food places right across the road. Good security meaning that your room card can only access your own floor, but a bit of a hassle when with friends/ family on different floors, had to then meet at reception or roof top. I would recommend

18 is fine.
It is a 20 minute ride by car and 50 minutes by public transport.
Taxi/Uber will cost you around €20-30 depending on the time and traffic. But I suggest that you use the free hotel shuttle to the train station and get to the center in about 30 minutes.
