Our first time in Amsterdam and we booked this hotel half way through the holiday as the last hotel we stayed in had mice and we couldn't stay there. The reception was clean which is why we picked the hotel. We paid 200 euros for 2 nights and we're given a key. When we went up to the bedroom in...

This is by far the worst hotel i have ever stayed in, the first night one of us had to sleep on the floor and despite this we were all still charged full price to stay in this room which had no windows and the weakest of fans. Safe to say i had a sleepless night. Furthermore to this the...

Not very clean. Quite expensive cost €140 and a €20 deposit. The bathroom was filthy and very small. Couldn't stand when going to toilet as there was no room to stand. Shower curtain hanging and wrapped round pipes to keep up. The carpet in the room was a red and a green on that overlapped in the middle. The security...

We booked ahead online, late arrival, had to pay before getting the room, so no options; the only plus... location close to train station Cluttered lobby, bad metallic smell in room; poor lighting, decrepit furniture; poor water pressure, only one small towel for each, soap containers broken/empty; room outlets didn't work to recharge devices Amsterdam is expensive. Advice? arrive earlier...

Accommodation in Amsterdam is really expensive and I knew this was a cheap option. We had a 4 bed, but there weren't any bunkbeds, it was 4 single beds in a row, bit weird. We did have an ensuite bathroom though (not that any of us showered it was only for a night) and it was a bit dingy. The...

You dont really stop at this place as so much as experience it . On arrival a talkative lady will extract cash out of you without the inconvenience of seeing the room before hand . Theres a good reason for that given you most likely leg it if you knew what your in store for . So onwards and upwards...

This hotel was a great location, close to the Centraal Train station, close to restaurants, red light district etc. However, I have stayed in nicer backpackers than this and paid a quarter of the price. We stayed 2 nights. It was €90 per night which was very expensive considering the condition of the hotel. The carpets and curtains were dirty,...

Not so clean hotel and small room. good thing is it is located in the heart of the city and near with many shopping malls and restaurants and also close to the central station which takes you anywhere in the country easily.

Just got home yesterday 9th November 2014. Wow, this hotel is awful. The hotel me and my friend booked was over booked so we had to find elsewhere! Everywhere was booked up except this one. It's not even a 1star. Seriously I have stayed in better hostels. This is shabby, dirty and not worth paying €30 a night. We payed...

Staying in Centrum

Neighbourhood Profile
Centrum
Amsterdam’s buzzing hub, with its sprawling network of tram rails and a seemingly constant flow of tourists and commuters, yields convenient access to some of the best sightseeing, shopping, and street life in Europe. Closest at hand are the Royal Palace, the quaint shops of Haalremmerdijk, the pedestrianized zones Kalverstraat and Dam Square with popular neighborhoods such as the Red Light District, and the Canal Ring hardly more than a moment’s stroll away. With the well-connected Centraal Station as Centrum’s base, it's easy to travel farther afield via one of the city’s iconic trams.
