Very competitive prices, small rooms with limited soundproofing from both traffic and neighbours, the placement gives it the edge. Staff friendly and competent. Breakfast was fine, with cold meats, cheese and fruit all available, and fresh orange juice!

You get what you pay for here. Rooms are tiny but work just fine for a solo traveller travelling light. Fast, reliable wifi. Very nice staff. Fantastic location to the sights, but in a bit of a noisy street. The window would not close properly in my room but this wasn't a huge issue to me.

we choose this hotel because of it's location and indeed it was very convenient, it is just few meters from the Dam square - minutes walk from Madam tuso Museum and other attractions. It is located above a pizza restaurant which is owned by the hotel. Advantages: - Location Disadvantages: - Noise from the street till 2-3AM - Pizza smell...

Great hotel right in centre. Clean and recently updated. Helpful friendly staff. Big choices at breakfast. It is above an Italian restaurant and pizzeria that gives discount if staying in hotel. Would definitely go back and recommend.

What a fantastic location. The rooms were very small and basic but clean and everything needed was available at reception i.e hairdryers, iron and ironing boards. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Continental breakfast was great and served from 7.30am-10.45am which was good if you need a lie in! Would definitely recommend and certainly use again.

The hotel is at great location. Few minutes of walking from all the major attractions. However the hotel rooms are very small. They have very few king size beds so be careful while you book twin rooms. They will provide you Twin best or completely separate beds. This time they provided us completely separate beds. But when we wanted to...

Location can't be beat. Literally a stones throw away from Dam Square, the royal palace, Madame Tussaud's, etc Great launching point for a day of exploring Amsterdam. We came early in the morning via taxi and the hotel was able to store all our suitcases for a family of four at 8:30AM well before check in at 1PM. After a...

We have just returned from staying at Hotel Doria. I had initially booked a hotel near the centre of Amsterdam for my boyfriends birthday, that place however turned out to be a hostel for students! So we decided to venture out and find something more suited, we visited many hotels and this one definitely stood out the most!! Pleasant staff,...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
