Booked this place because it was super cheap and available at the time thru booking.com. On reading the reviews here I thought, 'Oh my god, what have we done'. The reality could not have been more different. We arrived late on Friday to a warm and comprehensive welcome. There was no city tax, this was all included in our booking....

It's well located, since it's walking distance from the Tam stop. You can also get to the Heineken Experience and/or Van Gogh Mesuem walking, as well(it takes about 15 mins.). Staff was really polite and helpful. Rooms are pretty small, there's barely any space for your luggage and to walk around, but the beds are amazingly comfortable. Rooms are cleaned...

This hostel is great if your not lazy or expecting more for your money than you pay. We booked 3 nights for £116. This included breakfast and a private bathroom in our room. Our room was on the 4th floor meaning we had to climb 3 sets of spiral stairs (stairs is part of Amsterdam you will be none stop...

Last minute booking somewhere close to the city centre with a group of friends. Mostly clean hotel, very steep stairs though, friendly staff. Couldnt rate the breakfast as we were never up for it. 15 minute tram ride from the hotel to Centraal Station. Would probably stay at this hotel again for the price we paid.

This to me is more of a hotel than hostel as its rooms and breakfast and dining area is very good. The stairs to the rooms are a little scary/fun but ok if you take your time staff are very friendly and kind with excellent English. If you love to walk like we did you can get to central and...

The hostel is just 2 min walk from a tram station, and the tram is just 3 stops (5-10 min) from the center. On the outside it looks like a standard nice building in Amsterdam, but inside is pretty basic. The staff was really kind - they helped us with directions, provided with maps and ordered the taxi for the...

Cheap"ish" booking on the outskirts but around a 20/30 + minutes walk to the centre or any other attractions. The hotel was on the tram routes, which was handy but the hotel itself was pretty grim. The receptions and breakfast area are all very clean and pleasant but the rest is pretty grim. Filthy stairs and hallways (only for the...

I knew what we were getting into at about £40 a night to be honest, but I can't really rate the Sphinx any more than a 2 star. It was clean enough, the location wasn't too far out, and the area was safe (next to the Heineken brewery.) however the room was Spartan, a bit tatty (curtains were nearly see...

The hotel was a few tram stations away from Amsterdam Centraal and we were happy to pick this location. It was still conveniently located, within walking distance to restaurants and supermarkets, within tram rides to other major attractions, and yet it was not so crowded. Finding the hotel was not easy for the first time from the Weteringschans roundabout. But...

My son and girlfriend had to find a last minute place to stay, after having lost the keys to their rented studio. I called up the hotel at 23.15, and the nightshift hotel attendant was very helpful and the two had a roof over their head for the night. It was not luxurious, but everything they needed was available. The...
