This hotel is situated in an ideal location in the centre of Amsterdam 10 minuets from Amsterdam central station and even less from the hustle and bustle of central Amsterdam. If you are looking for frills then do not look here, this hotel offers reasonable prices with a continental breakfast included The Hotel is dated and rustic but being a...

Reading some of the reviews I think a lot of the people who stayed here have not experienced amsterdam's many narrow staircases and of course difference in standard of accommodation versus the average holiday. All in all our room was mostly clean, fairly quiet for Warmoestraat as it's at the end (previous hotels all you hear is bottle banks being...

Just returned from our trip in Amsterdam. We were 5 and we spent two nights in Hotel de Koopermoolen. We had a good time. Amsterdam is amazing and it's worth visiting it. What about hotel? Location was excellent. The hotel is in the center, close to the train station, so very comfortable if you arrive by train and you prefer...

There was pee left in the toilet of the room and it was not flushed. The washstand was clogged and some frizzy hair was floating on the water. After I told this issue to the hotel manager, she turned to be very defensive, and I got scared. I left the hotel. I think, regardless of the number of stars, the...

We apologise again for this very unusual oversight, however we called the housekeeping department right back to clean everything and the situation was quickly rectified. I'm sorry that you didn't give us more opportunity to resolve the situation at the desk.

We stayed for 3 nights in this small hotel. The reception staff were very good and helpful. The room we had was small but had everything we needed. Always plenty of hot water in bathroom. Our room was at the front of the hotel and Friday and Saturday nights were very noisy, street noise. But the location was great for seeing...

Well if you like sleeping in a dark and extremely noisy ashtray, look no further, this place is perfect! 😷 Otherwise, this place is grossly overpriced for what it is. Very in need of refurbishing, and stop allowing smoking in the bedrooms, it is disgusting! We wanted to move, but of course there is a 24 hour cancellation policy, and...

Group of friends staying in the 6 person apartment. When we arrived at the hotel we we're very politely greeted by a man who went over everything with us and let us store our luggage there whilst we waited for the apartment to be ready. We first entered the apartment and were shocked. We knew the stairs would be steep...

I only stayed here one night, so my experience may not be typical, but the worst thing about it for me was that the room stank of stale cigarette smoke, even though the window was open. OK, the hotel's a cheapish 2 star, so I wasn't expecting luxury, but I really didn't expect this - it was like sleeping in...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
