This hotel was such a unique experience. The architectural integrity of the rooms are what set this hotel apart from anything I have ever seen before. Each room depicts a particular trade…the watchmaker, the airplane builder, etc. The Airplane Builder was where we stayed… a stunning loft which consists of actual recycled airplane parts. The breakfasts were soooo good and the customer service was over the top. Thank you!
We stayed at the Artist suite, which is a corner room with a private entrance from the canal. There were just a few photos of the room in Booking com, which is why the full layout of the room and the level of attention to details were eventually quite a surprise, and the most pleasant one :). A 150+ year old chest, hu-u-uge windows, a tailor-made vintage sofa, a fireplace (although only decorative), a bath with a view over the canal, ... - all this made our stay most memorable. The staff were very welcoming and helpful. And the breakfast was great as well. Even though the expectations were high, they were exceeded.
I stayed in the "Boat Builder" it had a great bathtub! The layout is slightly cramped to move around, but once in the main room, its fairly spacious and you can relax. It located very close to central station and awesome proximity to food places, coffee shops and beautiful canal strolls. If you're planning to chill in bed and watch TV, there was no smart Tv, so English channels and choice are limited. There was a light breakfast it was well present(fruit, croissants, granola, yoghurt, cheese, ham, chocolate sprinkles (hagelslag), peanut butter). . . you get the idea! The pillows in the room were harder than I would prefer, but the staff were great and changed it for a softer pillow on request. The work space/ coffee area has a great view of the canal and was really well designed and decorated, unfortunately due to covid we were not able to use it. in the morning you can hear the hustle and bustle of people waking up and moving around, however that is to be generally expected in this location. Overall my favourite feature was the bathtub in this room and the view of the canal while you soak up as well as the amazing service from the staff from the start throughout the stay.…
The interior of the rooms is lovely, as well as the fact that breakfast is served in your room. Every room has a certain theme, but done very well. Really enjoyed our stay and will definitely come back!
Now I know why this hotel is rated so highly. The team are very responsive and very facilitating. Thank you so much to Puck and Madelein for your help with my booking amendments. That’s why I stay here. If you’re in Amsterdam & want a great place … stay here.
