First time staying in a hostel and I can see why many people opt in. You won't be breaking the bank, you have a place to come back to sleep and shower etc. Personally, I will not stay in a hostel again as it is not for me, but if you are a hostel vibe kinda person, solo travelling or whatever the reason, then I would recommend lightly... Some reasons it's a No for me: hygiene (the bathroom did smell & it's quite dark as the room is black), privacy (I am quite private so this experience was me getting out of my comfort zone as you are essentially sharing the space with strangers. There's no curfew so good luck sleeping!), noisy (it is called the Heart of Amsterdam for a reason as it is situated in De Wallen so it's very noisy with people shouting, screaming, partying etc. So for light sleepers, look elsewhere or invest in some really good ear plugs).…
We booked it because of the location, right in the red light district- able to walk anywhere really! I was so positively surprised! The rooms looked fairly new, with the bathroom connected to each dorm👍. Every single staff we’ve encountered was lovely. Be aware there is no full kitchen to use, I think the breakfast room had a microwave tho. I’d be back!
If you're looking for somewhere to lay your head, then this is the place for you. But if you're seeking a communal experience, look elsewhere. For us, we enjoyed our stay here! The beds were comfortable, the staff friendly, and the breakfast fine! We had trouble finding our lockers, our room didn't seem to have one (?)...but aside from this, we would recommend!
Me and 5 friends stayed here as a weekend trip away and really enjoyed. The place was very accessible and easy to find. Right on the Red light district so perfect for people looking to have a lively weekend! We walked everywhere over great location. Room was bigger than expected. Was handy for a group who just wanted to have fun! Always someone on 24 hour reception which was very handy too.
We stayed 3 night in private en-suite room , all was good and quiet. The staff is kind and available for any request . Our room was on the third floor so too many stairs to do :) The location is amazing and you have everything just outside the hostel. I recommend it for a trip between friends and young people.
We had an excellent time in Heart of Amsterdam, the position is perfect to discover the city, very central, few minutes walking from Central Station, Dam Square, Bloemenmarkt, Anne Frank Huis, etc. The room was clean, big enough, with private toilet. All receptionists we met were very kind, helpful and always smiling. Recommended!!
Absolutely didn’t like our stay here. We slept in a room on the highest floor, but there wasn’t an elevator so we had to literally climb upstairs. The room was small, dark and old. Because of the place of the hotel, there was so much noise outside. Even when the windows were closed, we could hear everything. I wouldn’t stay here again in the future.
I got disgusted since I came in this hostel the receptionist was sitting on the sofa with a friend eating burger and chips with all his greasy hands he took the chips and at the same time he got into the computer eating chips and talking with me at the same time. I booked on booking website a room with one bunk bed and it was really specific it had even more options if I wanted to be in a dormitory of 6 or 8 beds, I’ve choosed this one and I even paid a little more for that room. I had a waiting time of 15 minutes cause he said he was finding on the system and that it would take time. Something that never happened to me in any hostel to be waiting more than 5 mints. He said I was in a 8 bed dormitory and to get worst he had no interest at all to solve my problem and to put me togheter in a room with my husband he separeted us in different rooms and still was making fun of the situation asking me which was my nationality to search on google how to say it in my language when I understand perfectly English his completely offensive attitude I was chocked how can a person like this can be dealing with the Custumer service that is above 0% he was so disrespectful it ruined hundred percent all my experience and I got disgusted at his person to get worst when I came back in the end of the day he went to chase me and got my backpack of the room I will not recommend this hostel to any one. The room had the lights that didn’t worked to get even worst. Becarefull with this disrespectable, possessive and disgusting guy it shouldn’t be working over there and no where else with customers. This is an Asian guy, with a black hair, be aware. NOT RECOMMENDABLE.…
We stayed here for 2 nights. It was a private room for the three of us. The location like every one mentioned is 10/10. The room was clean with a private toilet/shower. Everything was clean. Now the negatives. Our room was on the top floor so 4 set of stairs. At first it was ok but soon became really difficult. The room had large posters of Harry Potter that was plain weird. Someone (another guest) knocked on our door in the middle of the night and asked for a lighter but when we refused he starting accusing us of smoking in the room. Later his smoke alarm went off middle of the night and that woke us up. The room was extremely cold and the beds were the most uncomfortable beds I’ve ever slept on. The breakfast was so basic and coffee was rubbish.
