the apartment is so cosy and beautiful that we almost felt at home :-) Angela and her staff are wonderful - very friendly, informative, laid back and people-loving. the B&B location is very good - it's less then 10 min' from the central station and close to everything. we'll defiantly come back!

We stayed at the shared bathroom accommodation on Spuistraat. Angela was a very kind and generous host. Breakfast was available to make on your own, which is great since everyone gets up at different times. The breakfast was generous, and I think more places should do it in this manner. Rooms were clean and spacious. The two twin beds for...

Stayed her for a weekend and couldn't ask for more! Very close to the central station and our room was tidy and clean. We had our own bathroom which was great. Angela was so friendly and I was able to email her before our stay to ask her any questions. I recommend this b&b, it ticks all the boxes! Thanks...

This cosy B&B is only a short stroll from the central station, close to trams, food, drink & shops which is the best thing. Angela & her team were super helpful & accommodating also which was the pleasant side of the experience. Unfortunately the beds & pillows were old & gave me a crick in the neck & the workshop...

I'd like to thank Angela and her team for our excellent recent stay at Bethany's. Cautionary note - she is not joking about the stairs! The position of this b&b is brilliant - everything you need is within walking distance but if you want to explore further afield all modes of transport are close at hand. We stayed right at...

Bethany is located less than 10 min from the train station, and 5 from the Dam square, shopping and many other sites. The owner, Angela, was very friendly. You have access to a small fridge, where cheese, lunch meat, milk and juice, eggs and butter are stored for your breakfast, which you make yourself. Some jam, coffee, tea and cookies...

This B&B is much better than what I expected. It is very centrally located, 10 minutes from the train station and very close to all the attractions as well. It seems like a house more than a hotel from outside. There is no reception, but they make sure to give you a friendly welcome when you arrive. Our room on...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
