I was in the flying pig for only 1 night, I had a buisiness meeting here and enjoyed the atmosphere, but foremost I enjoyed the company of the lovely staff. Everyone is extremely friendly and open. Howev when I came back Matheus treated me so good I felt at home. He helped me with all the questions of the city and had a good laugh. You feel like you are at home when you are in a different place with staff like him. A perfect visit due to the perfect hotel and staff.
Absolutely no complaints, everything appears exactly as presented on their website! Even though we stayed here during a quiet period, there was still a great communal atmosphere. The venue is safe and secure and each bed comes with a huge safety deposit box for storing luggage and valuables. The staff here are friendly and helpful and are always on hand with a comical pair of boltcutters in case you happen to drunkenly lock everything, including your key, in your lockbox, (which I definitely didn't do). We look forward to returning here soon! We really enjoyed
We booked to come here pre COVID, obviously our trip had to be delayed as the hostel was closed, all seemed well at first and the hostel asked us to rearrange our trip with added credit if we accepted a voucher rather than being refunded. We still intended to visit when we could and understood that they probably needed the help financially during this period so we agreed to do so. A year passed and due to personal circumstances we now are unable to visit for the foreseeable future and unfortunately, the same kindness we extended to the hostel during their time of need has not been given to us. The hostel have refused to refund our money until our voucher runs out in December 2022, almost 3 years after we were initially supposed to visit. Absolutely disgusting.
Great location, friendly staff. The rooms are sparse but that is to be expected. The place is generally clean. Beds are comfortable. Breakfast is ok, basic but hey it's 5 Euros. However, the coffee served with breakfast is impressively bad.
Myself and two of my friends stayed here for a long weekend. The staff is very accommodating and helpful, I checked out early in the morning and the 24hr reception was great and the employee went above and beyond to meet my needs. The rooms themselves are clean-we stayed in a 14-bed dorm on floor one. The street can be quite noisy at night so I recommend bringing earplugs and you will be just fine. There are large lockers in the rooms, plugs & light at each bunk, and mattresses were comfortable enough for a few nights' stay. I recommend using the bathrooms and showers on the lowest floor because they're bigger and more spacious (and newer too). The bar is fabulous as well, perfect size and good happy hour deals. If you're worried about constant marijuana/tobacco smell....don't be. There is an indoor smoking lounge but it's very contained. Everyone respects the no smoking in rooms/other common areas rule. Only a faint smell coming from outside when windows open...no big deal and doesn't last long anyway. No one in our group smoked and the smell did not bother us at all. Good vibes too: definitely a "party" hostel but it's not overly rowdy. There are definitely groups that go out and club at night so if that's your thing, you can join right in. If you want to relax and chill, the downstairs lounge area and kitchen are great for that. The reception/bar area is a great social area! You cannot beat the location: it's great: safe enough but still among Amsterdam's many attractions, bars, and restaurants. I really cannot stress enough how great the staff is. Treat others how you would like to be treated is used throughout the hostel by staff and guests. They're great to just talk to and hang out with at the bar as well. We can't wait to come back!…
