We arrived early on friday morning, there were 12 of us and the staff couldn't have been nicer. The hotel is situated cenral to everything, pretty mad for those who want to go for a mad weekend, it's the perfect place. The hotel has a nice position close to the Central Station but was very noisy during the night. One must be very tired in order to be able to fall to sleep, especially in the weekends. Otherwise, quite expensive room but very little, with a stare case that you must avoid if you are drunk :) But that's old Amsterdam's...

This hotel is in a great location, right on the Warmoeestraat which is always buzzing. So do expect some noise late into the night (ear plugs are provided in rooms though!). It is also a five minute walk from the central station, so in regards to transfers from the airport you couldnt pick a more perfect destination. Within 40 minutes...

Location is uber easy to find, stone throw away from Central Station. Reception was good and polite. Rooms are clean and cosy, bed is comfy. Bathroom and toilets are clean too. Oh remember to bring a pair of slippers for bathing purposes! Our room is just above the street, so do expect streets noises at night, part of Amsterdam i...

A real gem of a hotel. It is right in the heart of Amsterdam. Within walking distance from the station. I went with a friend and we loved our room. Small but perfect and we had the best view, overlooking the city. It was cleaned everyday and the staff were so friendly and very helpful. The lady who I believe...

This hotel is so much in the thick of it you become the thick of it! Having always stayed in 4 or 5 star hotels I was dreading what this hotel could be like, I needn't have worried. Location is perfect, right on the edge of the red-light district, above its own pub/cafe full of character. The room was more...

Staying in Red Light District (De Wallen)

Neighbourhood Profile
Red Light District (De Wallen)
To visit Amsterdam and not explore De Wallen (the Dutch name for this area) or to go only to gawk at its saucier aspects would mean missing the opportunity to view some of the city’s most picturesque canals, historic landmarks, and impeccably presented examples of traditional local architecture – not to mention Amsterdam’s own Chinatown, Europe’s largest Buddhist temple and more local treasures. Sure, there are some less salubrious activities drawing the curious to this age-old part of time. Nevertheless, the Red Light District is still a very safe and incredibly fascinating area where at the turn of a corner you can be transported from the dingy glow of modern day neon red to a glorious 16th century Delft blue dreamscape.
